One Direction Make Paul Rudd Squeal In These New ‘SNL’ Promos For ‘Fangirls’

Let’s put it this way: This week’s is “so excited” to be back on the show. That just might have something to do with musical guest One Direction.

The “Anchorman 2” actor appears alongside “SNL” castmember Vanessa Bayer for this week’s promos. And while One Direction don’t appear in the clips, they are certainly mentioned enough times to get “fangirls” like Rudd and Bayer squealing with delight. In fact, the only way Rudd can really contain his joy is by yelling into a pillow. But someone might want to tell him he’s pronouncing Louis Tomlinson’s name incorrectly. You don’t pronounce the “s,” Paul! Duh!

This marks Rudd’s third time hosting the show and 1D’s second appearance on the late-night comedy staple. They first performed on “SNL” in April 2012.

“This is our kind of show,” Niall Horan noted at the time, when MTV News caught up with the guys on set last year. “This is our perfect kind of show [and] we get involved as much as we can.” No word on how involved the fivesome will be this time around, but we know we wouldn’t mind some kind of “Clueless” skit starring the 1D guys and Rudd.

One Direction’s “SNL” performance this Saturday (December 7) caps off an impressive week for the five heartthrobs. Their latest album, Midnight Memories, which dropped last week, just debuted at the top of the charts.

Need more 1D? They will release the DVD for on December 17, just one day before Rudd’s hits theaters on December 18.
