Kanye West Accused Of Anti-Semitism For Comments About Obama

Kanye West speaks his mind freely, and now that he has completely lifted his media blackout, Yeezy has been making headline after headline based on his comments. Problem is, not everyone is a fan. The Anti-Defamation League is accusing the rap star of fueling an anti-Semitic stereotype.

During a November 26 interview with New York’s Power 105 morning show Kanye went off on a political tangent where he attempted to explain President Obama’s difficulties with pushing policies in Washington.

“Man, let me tell you about George Bush and oil money and Obama and no money. People want to say Obama can’t make these moves or he’s not executing. That’s because he ain’t got those connections,” he said. “Black people don’t have the same level of connections as Jewish people. Black people don’t have the same connection as oil people.”

On Monday the ADL published a statement on their website denouncing Kanye’s comments and asking for an apology. “This is classic anti-Semitism,” said ADL National Director Abraham H. Foxman in the statement. “There it goes again, the age-old canard that Jews are all-powerful and control the levers of power in government. As a celebrity with a wide following, Kanye West should know better. We hope that he will take responsibility for his words, understand why they are so offensive, and apologize to those he has offended.”

While on his current Yeezus Tour, Kanye takes time out during each show to address the crowd about his hopes, dreams and frustrations. During a New York tour stop on November 20 ‘Ye took a shot at Nike CEO Mark Parker after he grew disenchanted with the company surrounding the deal he struck to release his Yeezy sneakers. “They tried to make it as small as possible. Mark Parker even talked sh–, talking about, ‘We don’t even know why people like the Yeezys,’ ” he shouted.

On November 26, the same day that West’s interview with Power 105 aired, Kanye got into a blow-up with MTV News correspondent Sway Calloway on his Shade 45 radio show after Calloway asked the musician why he does he rely on support from corporate America instead of empowering himself.

“How Sway?” Kanye barked. “You ain’t got the answers, man; you ain’t got the answers. I’ve been doing this more than you; you ain’t got the answers.”
