‘Anchorman 2’ Set Gets A Little Weird: Check It Out

According to Will Ferrell, synthetic fibers were absolutely essential to the production of .

“It starts with some very tight-fitting polyester pants,” Ferrell, dressed in his full leisure suit splendor on the sequel’s set, told MTV News’ Josh Horowitz earlier this year. “Want to touch them?”

An attempt on Horowitz’s part to go for Ferrell’s thigh was denied, with the mustachioed Ferrell, who co-wrote the film and returns as the iconic Ron Burgundy, claiming that the offer was rhetorical.

This is just one example of the on-set shenanigans Horowitz witnessed. It should come as a surprise to no one that the cast of comedy all-stars goofed off quite a bit.

Castmember Paul Rudd’s declaration that “Anchorman 2” might be a tearjerker is a surprise though.

“It could! It could bring you to some tears,” Rudd insisted. Then the hedging begins: “Good tears or bad tears or laughing tears, I don’t know. I don’t want to put you in a box. You could see it during allergy season. It could be a high pollen count.”

And David Koechner, who returns alongside his cowboy hat as sportscaster Champ Kind for the sequel, revealed that there may (not) be surprising amounts of nudity, calling it “something of an experimental art film.

“I show up, the director says take your clothes off, I take my clothes off,” Koechner said. “We’re saving a lot on wardrobe, I’ll tell you that much.”

We’ll have to wait a few more days to see how much nudity actually made the cut, but until then, we’ll be hunkered down in our glass cases of emotion, eating Scotchy Scotch Scotch.

“Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues” will hit theaters December 18.
