Are 8 Kanye Songs Enough For The Next Album?

Kanye West championed Yeezus for its minimalist sound and even linked with producer Rick Rubin, who helped strip down the tracks even further. For his next LP, Yeezy has revealed he’ll continue with that less-is-more ideology.

“I think my next album is going to be eight songs. It’s just reducing down the amount of information that you need,” Kanye said on Wednesday night during an Art Basel panel in Miami. “People say a design is the point where you can’t take anything else away. [Yeezus] was very, very designed. I took a departure from radio and popular music in order to get this seat here,” he was quoted as saying, on Rollingstone.com. “If I hadn’t made Yeezus, I wouldn’t be sitting here with this cool font at Basel right here.”

For his next release, ‘Ye will once again team up with Rubin and his G.O.O.D. Music cohort Q-Tip.

“I’m producing Kanye’s new album with Rick Rubin,” the Queens, New York rap vet confirmed to journalist Elliott Wilson during an interview for RapRadar.com earlier this week.

West recently revealed that he is already working on the LP, and he aims to drop it in 2014. “I haven’t named my next album, but I have started on it,” he said during a Power 99 radio interview last month in Philadelphia. “I write down philosophies all the time, so I’ll just have some thoughts and I just constantly, every time I think of it, I write it. I’m just collecting. I’m just constantly working.”

‘Ye also hasn’t ruled out putting out a follow-up to Cruel Summer, which would be his second G.O.O.D. Music compilation.

“I go back and forth on it, but we keep on missing the winter. That’s the only problem,” Kanye said about the album. “We’re thinking about dropping a Cruel Winter. I’d like to put out more product; I’d like to have another album out next summer.”
