How Did Chris Rock Get Kanye West To Co-Produce ‘Top Five’? ‘I Send All My Scripts To Kanye’

by 12 mins ago

Kanye West is a busy man who chooses his artistic endeavors carefully, so he’s not just signing on to co-produce any movie. But did he did co-produce “Top Five,” the new film starring, written and directed by Chris Rock, out next week. So how’d he end up on board?

“I send all my scripts to Kanye,” Rock told MTV News on the red carpet for the New York premiere of the movie on Wednesday night.

I wanted to believe him (and would have), but the comedic great then broke into laughter, and let us in on how both Yeezy and Jay Z ended up with co-producer roles.

“I mean, if you doing anything that has hip-hop involved in it, you better call up Kanye, you better call up Jay,” he said. “And they were great. When you see the movie, you’ll see.”

One of the reasons the legendary comedian can call ‘Ye so easily is that they already have an established relationship. He appeared on “Blame Game,” off of 2010′s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, where he performs a now-iconic two-minute skit at the end of the song. In a recent appearance on the “Juan Epstein” podcast, Rock said Yeezy had him in the booth for hours.

“Kanye knows what he wants,” he said, thinking back to the session. “And he makes sure he’s gonna get it. Anybody else would have probably had me in there for 20 minutes. He had me in there for a couple of ...

A$AP Rocky And Chanel Iman Have Called It Quits

by 9 mins ago

We’ve seen our fair share of celebrity couple splits in the last month, and on Tuesday (October 28), we got news of another: A$AP Rocky and Chanel Iman.

The “Pretend” rapper and the supermodel have broken up, according to E! News. “It was just not working out with both of their busy travel schedules,” a source told the site, adding that it happened a few weeks ago. “Time away from each other played a big part in the breakup.”

Rocky and Iman kept mostly private for the year-plus that they dated, but they did have a few standout moments that we got to see — like on the red carpet at the 2013 VMAs, when the two shared a sweet, spontaneous kiss.

That night, in true New York City fashion, they took the train home.

The source told E! News that neither is harboring negativity following the split.

“They don’t have any hard feelings. [They] only want the best for each other in the long run.”

T-Pain On Kanye West’s Auto-Tune: ‘He Doesn’t Use It Correctly’

by 27 mins ago

Many may feel that T-Pain is the King of Auto-Tune, having worked with it throughout his career and helped to popularize its use. But there’s another Auto-Tune favorite who Pain himself doesn’t think qualifies for Auto-Tune royalty: Kanye West.

“Kanye uses it, but he doesn’t use it correctly,” the singer told “HuffPost Live.” “He makes great music with it, but the way that I use it and the way that I’ve shown Chris [Brown] and Jamie [Foxx] to use it, he doesn’t use it that way.”

And what’s the issue, exactly? The order of operations.

“[Kanye] sings without it first and then he puts [Auto-Tune] on after he’s done with the vocals,” the “Up Down” singer added. “You don’t know how it’s going to come out. You can’t catch your mistakes before they happen. So sometimes it gets a little bit wobbly and things like that…[808s & Heartbreak] was actually good, but I had a lot to do with that album.”

These two have been at odds over Auto-Tune in the past. Just check out the video below for proof.

This Woman Was Catcalled Over 100 Times In One Day In New York City — And Filmed Everything

by 1 min ago

Is this Taylor Swift’s New York?

Unfortunately, it seems so.

On Tuesday (October 28), Hollaback!, a “movement to end street harassment,” teamed with filmmaker Rob Bliss to release “10 Hours of Walking in NYC as a Woman.” The video splices together a day’s worth of footage into a less-than-two-minute clip, which features actress Shoshana B. Roberts walking around the city and experiencing “100+ instances of street harassment.”

Bliss walked in front of Roberts for the entire day, while she held two microphones, and the pair captured interactions with varying degrees of inappropriateness. Some men said things like, “How are you this morning,” and “Have a nice evening,” while others offered shouts of “Damn!” One man even walked silently beside her for five minutes.

If that’s not uncomfortable, I’m not sure what is.

Hollaback! said that upon posting the video, Roberts was on the receiving end of rape threats in the YouTube comments.

“The rape threats indicate that we are hitting a nerve,” Hollaback! director Emily May told Newsday. “We want to do more than just hit a nerve though, we want New Yorkers to realize — once and for all — that street harassment isn’t OK, and that as a city we refuse to tolerate it.”

Bliss said that he wanted to bring to light what women experience everyday.

“I think a lot of men don’t understand the collective weight that this harassment causes,” he said. “They see it as just an innocent ‘compliment’ but are missing the forest for the ...

14 Times The Sexual Tension Between Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj And Drake Was Too Much To Handle

by 8 mins ago

I didn’t know what to expect from Nicki Minaj’s new single, “Only,” featuring Lil Wayne, Drake, and Chris Brown, when she first announced it over the weekend. I expected it to be a great song, sure, but wasn’t too certain about much else.

One thing I didn’t expect: Lil Wayne and Drake getting explicit about what they’d like to do to Nicki, and her doing the same.

But I probably should have known better. The breadwinners of the Young Money family have a history of flirting and straight up talking dirty to each other.

Nicki Grinds On Wayne During “Knockout” Video (2009)

He looks happy.

Nicki Has Wayne In Mind On Her Verse On “Bedrock” (2009)

Remember Nicki’s “put this p—y on your sideburns” line? Turns out it was directed at Weezy.

“As soon as I said that he smiled because I was talking to him,” she told VIBE in 2010. “Wayne has those infamous sideburns, and I knew that would make him laugh.”

Drake Admits His Love On “Miss Me” (2010)

Still perhaps one of Drake’s most infamous lines to this day, Aubrey holds nothing back: “I love Nicki Minaj, I told her I’d admit it/ I hope one day we get married just to say we f–kin’ did it.”

Drake Talks About Marrying Nicki — And Acts It Out In The Video — On “Moment 4 Life” (2010)

“F–k it, me and Nicki Nick gettin’ married today,” Drizzy raps. Then, in the video, he and his ...

What Should We Expect From Drake And Chris Brown On Nicki Minaj’s ‘Only’?

by 9 mins ago

We found out on Monday (October 28) that tomorrow won’t bring us the release of Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter V, as scheduled, but we will get a different kind of major moment for Young Money: Not only will Nicki Minaj be dropping her new single, “Only,” featuring Lil Wayne, Drake and Chris Brown, but it’ll be the first time we’ve heard Drizzy and Breezy on the same song since they publicly made up over the summer.

So, what should we expect from one of the year’s biggest collabs?

Right now, we’ve got more questions than answers. But here’s what comes to mind.

Will They Be Singing Or Rapping?
All of the artists on the song waver between singing and rapping. Breezy sings far more than he raps, but he’s been kicking some rhymes here and there of late. Nicki and Drake both go back and forth — often within one song — and Minaj has dropped both rap-heavy and sing-heavy singles for her upcoming album. Heck, even Tunechi has been known to carry a tune every once and a while.

My guess is that Nicki, Wayne and Drake will all be rhyming, with Brown delivering some sort of catchy hook that’ll stay stuck in your head. Even though all these MCs can create a winning hook, how do you get Chris Brown on your single and not let him man the chorus? Plus, the single art highlights Nick, ...

When Their Principal Forbid Cross-Dressing During Spirit Week, These Students Revolted

by 25 mins ago

When two male students came dressed up as women to their Washington high school earlier this month—one, as Nicki Minaj, and the other, as Miss America—they were told they had two options: Change outfits, or go home.

They were surprised, since they were following the protocol of the White Pass Jr. Sr. High School Spirit Week, which, on this day, called for students to “dress like a celebrity,” according to KING5 News in Washington. That didn’t stop the principal—whom the boys said told them they needed to change—from trying to lay down the law.

“I asked him why,” Mudge said. “He said, ‘No reason.’”

So given that choice, Chandler Krueger and Mason Mudge decided to leave.

In an inspiring show of solidarity, fellow students came to school the following day dressed in outfits generally associated with the opposite sex.

“I think it’s really awesome that all the kids support me and support the decisions that I made,” Mudge said. “I walked into school this morning and everyone was wearing dress[es] and pink and all that.”

Superintendent Chuck Wyborney seems to agree that the way the two high schoolers were treated was unjust. “If it happens again, we’ll handle it differently,” he said.

What do you think? Was the principal out of line? Would you have protested his decision too? Let us know in the comments.

Justin Bieber And Khalil Are Done Playing Games In The ‘Playtime’ Video

by 2 mins ago

I bet you weren’t expecting this to start your weekend: A new video from Justin Bieber.

The Biebs joins Khalil in the visuals for “Playtime,” off of Khalil’s A Long Story Short mixtape, which dropped back in August. The video is pretty low key, as the two friends are mostly hanging out, bouncing around outdoors, and are eventually surrounded by a crowd (which, all things considered, was relatively reasonably sized). JB also busts out some dance moves.

Unfortunately, the video caused some tears.

OK, they were tears of joy. Still.

We should probably start getting used to hearing new music from Justin. Last week, he remixed Meghan Trainor’s “All About That Bass” and told manager Scooter Braun that it’s “time to go back to work.”

Here we go.

King Los Signs With RCA And Drops A New Single: Listen

by 17 mins ago

King Los has signed with Bad Boy twice, but the situation has stalled each time, which left him as an indie artist in recent months. That changed on Thursday (October 23), when the Baltimore native announced a new deal with RCA Records.

In addition to the deal, which he talked a bit about on “Ebro in the Morning,” Los dropped a new track, called “Only One Of Me,” which proves — in case you had never listened to his music in the past — that any label issues he’s had aren’t because dude can’t spit.

Seriously, listen — he’s a monster.

That’s probably why Lupe Fiasco called him one of the best lyricists out. And probably why he absolutely ripped his freestyle on “RapFix Live” earlier this year.

While he’s no longer signed to Bad Boy, Los did say that Diddy will be executive producing his album — though there’s no timetable on when we can expect that just yet.

ILOVEMAKONNEN Gets Attacked On Stage: Watch

by 30 mins ago

ILOVEMAKONNEN had the club goin’ up on a Tuesday. And then he went down.

During a show at SOBs in New York last night, Rae Sremmurd brought out the Cali native to perform his Drake-remixed hit “Tuesday,” when he was attacked by someone in the crowd.

Early on in the video above, which captured the incident, a fan — though, maybe that’s not the proper way to describe him given what happens next — taps Makonnen to get his attention, and appears to extend his hand to dap him up. Only, when the OVO-signed singer extends his hand in return, the assailant in the crowd grabs him, pulls him to the ground, and lands a few blows as the 25-year-old lays on the stage.

Though someone jumps off the stage an appears to go after the culprit, he seems to scurry away untouched, into the abyss of the crowd and the night.

Not one to give up, though, Makonnen rises to his feet, finishes his song, and has the club goin’ up on a Tuesday once again.

Glad to see he’s alright.
