Let’s Start An ‘Idris Elba For James Bond’ Campaign

by 1 min ago

Listen, we’re not saying it’s time for Daniel Craig to put down his martini just yet, but when he does we’ve got the perfect replacement: Idris Elba.

The gruff and tough moody man actor took part in a Reddit AMA (short for Ask Me Anything) Q&A on Saturday in support of his latest film, “No Good Deed,” where he addressed a long-speculated fan rumor about whether or not he’d tackle MI5′s most notorious agent were the job offered up to him.

In short? “Yes, if it was offered to me, absolutely,” the actor stated, causing fans of “Luther” himself to go all atwitter with adoration at the mere thought.

Which got us thinking — why stop there with obsessive love alone? Why not ask — nay, demand! — that Elba be given the role once Craig has decided to put an end to his 007 days? After all, he’s more than prepared to take on the part.

He Can Kick Ass Like No Other

Even in a silly hat!

He’s Brooding and Mysterious

He’s Totally the Most Handsomest

HELLO, SIR.

He Looks Damn Good in a Suit

I mean…

He’s Super Fit

…As Josh Horowitz already learned long ago: the man is IN SHAPE, a very important part of being Bond.

This Son Granted His Mother’s Last Wish 3 Days Before Her Death

by 3 mins ago

Feel like crying? Well then you’ve clicked on the right post because this one is an emotional doozy. Meet Ryan Manning and his mother Mary Ann Manning — the mother/son duo dancing in the video below. A wedding dance that would in turn be Mary Ann’s last, as she lost her long battle with cancer a mere three days after the event.

See? We told you this one had all of the feels.

Mary Ann’s managing of the feat was impressive not simply because of her diagnosis, but because she’d been confined to a wheelchair in the months leading up to the wedding.

At the reception Ryan and Mary Ann danced to Israel Ka’ano’i Kamakawiwo’ole’s ukulele-based rendition of “Somewhere Over The Rainbow” — is anyone reading this NOT at least tearing up at this point? — the one thing she’d told family and friends she’d been living for these past few months.

Exactly 72 hours after the ceremony started, Mary Ann had passed away.

Now everyone go hug your mom and tell them you love them.

Social Media Is Changing Your Brain In 5 Terrifying Ways

by 1 hour ago

Okay so this one has officially terrified us: the brave, intrepid, and intelligent folks over at asapSCIENCE have done it again. It’s no secret that social media and technological advances have had a huge effect on our society and the world at large. But did you know that it’s also changing us on a biological level? And not necessarily in the best ways?

It’s true and here’s the video proof to terrify you into never wanting to tweet an embarrassing #TBT selfie ever again (or will it?).

1. It’s As Addictive As Drugs To Our Brains

AsapSCIENCE

Though it’s mostly a psychological issue, it’s still a fascinating one: 5 – 10 percent of Internet and social media users are physical unable to control how much time they spend online. Why? Because the Internet is as addictive as drugs, and alter the brain in identical ways to drug use in the parts of our brain that control emotional processing, attention spans, and decision-making. Um, scary much?

2. Your Brain Cannot Block Out Distractions and Interferences

AsapSCIENCE

Forget the old adage that says social media users are better multi-taskers. Turns out frequent social media use actually makes people worse at it, unable to filter out distractions and white noise compared to those who use it less, making it harder to commit things to memory.

3. It’s Re-Wiring Our Nervous Systems

AsapSCIENCE

This might be the scariest of all. In the study, the participants’ brains essentially reacted to stimuli as a ...

Reddit Bans Stolen Celeb Nude Subreddit, But It’s Not What You Think

by 12 mins ago

Well that certainly took awhile. Reddit, the Internet’s favorite proverbial watering hole for all the weird, gross, fascinating, and terrible that humanity can conjure, has put an end to “The Fappening” and “Fappening” — the mega-sized subreddits that were created for, and contained, the 1,000s of stolen, personal photos of stars such as Jennifer Lawrence, Kate Upton, Jill Scott, Victoria Justice, and others. But don’t get all congratulatory towards the site just yet.

In a blog post from CEO Yishan Wong, it was explained that the website would not be changing any policies on its frequently dicey material, let alone banning wide swaths of content uploaded onto the site because “reddit’s platform is structurally based on the ability for people to distribute, promote, and highlight textual materials as well as links to images and other media.”

“We understand the harm that misusing our site does to the victims of this theft, and we deeply sympathize,” he explained, but insisted that reddit was “unlikely to make changes to our existing site content policies in response to this specific event.”

Moments later, the subreddits /r/TheFappening and /r/Fappening were banned, causing a slew of confusion amongst the site’s users, declaring it “a disservice by censoring content,” while most of the rest of the Internet cheered.

How A Horrific Ice Bucket Prank On Autistic Teen United A Town

by 13 mins ago

People in Bay Village, Ohio and folks around the country are rallying to support the victim of a truly terrible prank. On Thursday (September 4), a boy with Autism was conned into believing he was participating in an ALS Ice Bucket Challenge video only to have urine and fecal matter dropped on him by several bullying teens: a truly reprehensible act.

Now, a nationwide network of support for the teen has developed and his community has come together to reject this act of intolerance.

On Friday evening, a rally was held to show support, with WKYC.com reporting that people were chanting “No Hate in Bay” and “No room for hate” while wearing blue: the color brandished by many an Autism awareness group and also one of the colors of Bay Village High School.

“To me, it’s reprehensible… that these kids would take advantage of a vulnerable teenager,” explained Bay Village police chief Mark Spaetzel. He went on to say the video of the incident was one of the more disturbing things he’s ever seen in the entirety of his career in law enforcement.

Elsewhere, in the comments of a Cleveland.com story, many commenters echoed the sentiments of disgust for the prank and support for the bullied teen. User Davey Doodle wrote “As the father of two children on the Autism spectrum, this video underlines one of my many fears for my children. I can easily see my child in this video. He is ...

Joan Rivers’ Funeral Would’ve Delighted Joan Rivers

by 17 mins ago

For a woman like Joan Rivers, excess and extravagance were the only answer — and adoration was the key. In that case there’s no doubt the star would have approved of her funeral on Sunday morning (September 7) in New York City, filled with a litany of flowers, pomp, circumstance, and celebrity friends to honor the iconic comedian after her death last week at 81.

Rivers had famously stated during her life — via her 2012 book I Hate Everyone . . . Starting with Meexactly what she wanted her funeral to be like, and though it wasn’t word-for-word, she would’ve been delighted by the elaborate ceremony today.

Plenty of Hollywood stars came to pay their respects — including Sarah Jessica Parker, Michael Kors, Kelly Osbourne, Whoopi Goldberg, Barbara Walters, Kathy Griffin, Howard Stern, Giuliana Rancic, and more.

In fact hundreds of people gathered at Temple Emanu-El in Manhattan on Sunday to pay their respects to the late icon. Naturally, many were dressed to the nines, as would befit a respectful homage to the “Fashion Police” star.

According to The New York Times, the synagogue was peppered with white gardenias at the front while an organist played. Other musical accompaniments included the New York City Gay Men’s Chorus who were on hand to perform their renditions of “What a ...

This Insane Batman Rollercoaster Will Be Next Summer’s Main Attraction

by 2 hours ago

If anything makes me wish it was summer forever, it’s theme parks. And this looks like the rollercoaster to rule them all. A 4D Batman theme park ride that spins all of the ways while you’re doing all of the drops? This looks too scary to be real. It literally takes you 360 degrees.

This thing has got to be an April Fools’ joke come early. Like, there’s no way any living human with half a shred of sanity would get on this thing, right?

Six Flags San Antonio — the coaster’s home — is just kidding, certainly, yeah? The only time of year that anyone would ever carefree and YOLO enough try this is summer. Then again, it comes out in 2015 so we can’t be too nostalgic can we?

Seriously, this thing looks like a fight sequence that the Dark Knight himself might take pause to try it.

Nah, he’d probably still be fine. Take a look at a full run of this monstrosity and begin planning your trip to Texas immediately. This is going to be next summer’s main attraction.

Yup: Six Flags San Antonio just solidified its place in history as home of the scariest, most-superheroic rollercoaster ever. Will you have the guts to try it?
