A Baseball Team Blew Up A Bunch Of Justin Bieber And Miley Cyrus Merch

by 18 mins ago

Uh oh Beliebers, you’re not going to like this. Saturday night (July 19) in a baseball stadium in Charleston, South Carolina, the crowd blew up a bunch of Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber merchandise.

For those of you who may be unaware, back in the late ’70s there was this thing called “Disco Demolition Night” that became the stuff of sports history legend.

On Saturday, MiLB team the Charleston RiverDogs attempted to recreate the magic in the name of destroying, not disco, but Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus.

Guess they’re not Beliebers then, huh?

beliebCharleston RiverDogs/Milb.com

“Like so many, we have taken special exception to Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus’s music along with his numerous run-ins with the law and her controversial performances,” said RiverDogs General Manager Dave Echols. “‘Disco Demolition 2′ is dedicated to the eradication of their dread musical disease, like the original Disco Demolition attempted to do.”

The original Disco Demolition was the brainchild of current Charleston RiverDogs president, Mike Veeck, who 35 years ago crafted a promotion so outrageous — to eradicate disco music on July 12, 1979 — that it resulted in the last American League game to ever be forfeited. (The hooligans in attendance got so into the destructive affair that they ruined the field.)

This go-around, the ire of Veeck was geared towards Beebs and professional tongue-wagger, Cyrus. “We are going to take Bieber and Cyrus’s merchandise and memorabilia, put it in a giant box, and blow it ...

Christina Milian Says She’s Not Dating Lil Wayne, Sorry Internet

by 33 mins ago

Despite rumors persisting in the days since their ESPY Awards outing, Christina Milian swears she is not dating Lil Wayne. And she told TMZ as much at a celebrity kickball game, hosted by Chris Brown, so you know she’s totally serious.

For those unaware of the doings amongst you, let us break it down: last week Milian and Weezy were seen gettin’ kinda handsy (read: holding hands) at the ESPY Awards.

But apparently that’s all just business, as Milian recently signed with Young Money Entertainment, putting Wayne in the driver’s seat of her career return and roll-out.

Her reaction to the hypothetical question of whether or not she’d ever date a producer or manager was interesting, though:

You never know, eh?? Don’t stop believin’, Weezy/Milian shippers!

Lindsay Lohan Might Move To London Now, Everyone

by 1 hour ago

It’s far too easy (and frankly, far too overdone) to approach any story about Lindsay Lohan with an eyeroll and a bit of disdain. We’re an idealist sort and always hopeful that people will learn from their past mistakes and/or the chaos of their own lives — which is why we think maybe this move to London that Lohan is contemplating is a great idea.

Yeah, you read that right — Lohan revealed in an interview with BBC in support of her latest bit of work, a production of David Mamet’s Speed-The-Plow on the West End, that she’s a bit enamored with that jolly good home of Kate and Wills better known as foggy Londontowne. Mostly because, well, their celebrity obsession doesn’t drive her anxieties up a wall as much as it does here in the US.

“I don’t understand the crazy fascination with me because it kind of scares me,” the actress stated when asked about her life as a media magnet. But, quite sadly, in fact, the business of reporting on her every move has her more nonplussed these days than in the past. “I’m so numb to it at this point that it doesn’t affect me personally whereas in the past I think it did a little bit.”

“I will hear a flash of an iPhone camera, I’ll hear the shutter from a mile across the room, or I’ll feel it,” she quipped. “I’m so used to thinking that and feeling almost paranoid sometimes.”

As for the allure ...

World Cup + A ‘Doctor Who’ Trailer = The Best Sunday, Ever

by 36 mins ago

OK, we’re going to try to not get all freakishly excited and overly hyperbolic about the new trailer (A non-teaser at last!) for “Doctor Who” season eight but OH MY GOODNESS is that ever a tall order.

Because — Gah! Jeez! Holy Mother of Daleks! — any hypothetical worries one could have had about the BBC franchise after the loss of our beloved Eleven have been squashed with the quickness thanks to the trailer! It debuted on BBC One during Sunday’s World Cup finals, because where else should the biggest show in the universe debut but during the biggest sporting event in this wee galaxy of ours, eh?

In 60 seconds, Peter Capaldi has managed to sell us on his iteration. And Clara Oswald’s Doctor-saving self is securely in place at his side. There’s even a wee cameo from The Paternoster Gang who will appear in the premiere episode, “Deep Breath” (yay more Strax)! This is turning into a timey-wimey family affair, now, isn’t it?

Obviously, August 23rd cannot come soon enough. And we’ve got heaps of questions in need of some answers. Anybody have an extra sonic screwdriver handy? River Song? You out there?

Oo-wee-ooooo!

Good Luck Sleeping After Watching This ‘American Horror Story: Freakshow’ Teaser

by 3 mins ago

Those of you out there looking to add a little bit of unsettling spook to your Sunday will surely find that in spades in the creeptastic new teaser for FX’s “American Horror Story: Freakshow.” The latest installment of the Ryan Murphypalooza is short but not so much that it cuts out the terror.

A fallen angel. A sad, old-timey, Sepia-tinged setting. And, of course, a terrifying clown pulling the strings — or, in this case, slapdash-looking levers — behind the scenes.

Hello nightmares, thy name is this.

Honestly we were half-expecting a children’s choir to whisper-sing Radiohead’s “Creep” in the background (which, thank goodness they weren’t or else we might never go to bed ever again).

Ryan Murphy, we are more than a little bit terrified of your mind, dude.

15 GIFs That Prove Christopher Walken Will Be A Great Captain Hook

by 23 mins ago

Christopher Walken, lest you forget, is a goddamn legend. He’s a hero of weirdos and the delightfully strange alike. And on Sunday NBC announced that he would helm the role of Captain Hook in their live broadcast of “Peter Pan,” which may be the best casting decision a network has ever made. (Not that we’re being hyperbolic or anything!)

“He might be the first tap-dancing Hook you’ve ever seen,” NBC chief Bob Greenblatt told TV critics at the Television Critics Association Summer Press tour NBC panel event on Sunday morning, no doubt to the glee and euphoric glow of everyone in attendance. Because — hoo boy — do we ever want to see THAT. Who better to play the baddest baddie in all the land than the weapon of choice himself, eh?

Now, for those of you who somehow grew up without any knowledge of Peter Pan — and if you did what sort of childhood did you have, no judgement but jeez? — it tells the story of a fun-loving and spritely young lad with a penchant for flying and a determination not to grow up. Captain Hook is his arch nemesis, a pirate captain on the good ship Jolly Rodger who was left sans-hand after a fight with Peter resulted in it being cut off — hence the moniker “Hook.” A nearby crocodile nabbed his hand, and now pursues the Captain in hope of finishing the meal. Lucky for Hook he always gets a head ...

Tracy Morgan Heads Home From Rehab And Confirms Wal-Mart Lawsuit

by 30 mins ago

After a bevy of bad news in the days since the accident that critically injured Tracy Morgan, the news that he has been released from rehab is an undeniably exciting and happy one. Tracy Morgan is out of rehab, folks, and the road to recovery inches ever closer to its finish.

According to his spokesman Lewis Kay, Morgan — who suffered a broken leg, nose, and ribs from the 6-car pile-up accident — was released Saturday morning in the wake of the recent announcement that he would sue Wal-Mart for the accident that left four people injured and killed his friend James McNair.

Morgan’s release comes a month after the accident that left him in critical condition in the weeks following and his release is a positive sign for the actor/comedian’s recovery efforts.

The statement from Morgan’s Kay, released Saturday afternoon, confirms his condition and the lawsuit.

“Tracy has been released from the rehabilitation center and will continue his recovery efforts at home with an aggressive outpatient program,” it read. “He asked me to pass along his sincerest gratitude to everyone who has helped him get to this point. He would also appreciate some privacy during this crucial point in his recovery. In regards to the reports of a lawsuit, I can confirm that Tracy, along with the other victims of this horrific accident, have filed suit.”

‘Transformers’ Writer To Tackle Live-Action ‘Dumbo’ Next

by 26 mins ago

Well this is certainly not something this particular writer would’ve expected, but: the scribbling hand tasked with creating the words Michael Bay then uses to bring his “Transformers” franchise to life, Ehren Kruger, has been tapped to pen Disney’s live-action adaptation of its 1941 classic, “Dumbo.”

Who knew flying elephants and autobots had so much in common, eh?

For those of you out there that may have missed out on one of Disney’s more emotional old films, “Dumbo” told the story of a wee circus elephant-to-be that’s ostracized and mocked because of his unusually large ears. After a kerfuffle that results in his mother getting locked up (for protecting her baby! How cruel), Dumbo lands a mouse-y companion who tells him that, with the help of a magical feather, he can actually fly with those big ol’ ears of his. We won’t tell you what happens next.

Does this mean, with Kruger at the helm, that feather will be, say, a feather that transforms into a high-flying device?

In its live-action iteration, the story is said to be more of a family tale that parallels the old “Dumbo” journey. No word yet on who will play the voice of this teeny, ambitious elephant, but we’ve got our fingers crossed for star of the now-departed “Trophy Wife,” Albert Tsai to take the part because he’s just too adorable. What do you think?

Potato Salad Kickstarter Raises Over $50,000, So Here’s How To Spend Those Taters

by 12 mins ago

So we’ve all had a laugh and an eyeroll about that potato salad Kickstarter by now, yes? (Perhaps more of the latter than the former for some of us.) His initial goal of amassing 10 whole dollars has resulted in an Internet frenzy that’s netted Zack “Danger” Brown over $50,000 as of the writing of this post.

…That’s a lot of freaking potatoes.

Fortunately, Brown has a better head on his shoulders than we’d anticipated. While part of us couldn’t help but despair at the fervency the Internet applied to this faux-cause compared to its efforts to help real, honest-to-goodness effective ones, Brown’s commitment to “do[ing] the most good” has instilled in us a bit of hope.

During an interview with ABC’s “Good Morning America,” Brown commented that though Kickstarter’s Terms of Service strictly prohibit him giving the money directly to charity, he’s open to ideas.

And, well, ideas have we got for him! Because that $40,000 can buy a lot of potatoes, sir. In fact, according to our calculations, Brown can buy over 121,212 potatoes. That’s a lot of tater salad, y’all!

Now, if we go by the numbers alone (still can’t believe I did math for this, you guys. MATH!) there’s no way — with all that mayo and creamy, delicious goodness going on — that the potatoes would even last for how long it takes to make 122,000 servings of salad. In fact it feels egregious to make $40,000 worth of the stuff.

So we’ve devised ...

Meet ‘Star Wars Episode VII”s Newest Stars: Pip Andersen And Crystal Clarke

by 7 mins ago

After an open casting call that spanned 11 US and UK cities and resulted in 67,000 imperial hopefuls auditioning for a role that would take them to a galaxy far, far away, “Star Wars: Episode VII” has added two total newbies to its impressively stacked cast. Meet Pip Anderson and Crystal Clarke!

“The Star Wars universe has always been about discovering and nurturing young talent and in casting Episode VII we wanted to remain absolutely faithful to this tradition,” said Lucasfilm president and producer of the film, Kathleen Kennedy. “We are delighted that so many travelled to see us at the open casting calls and that we have been able to make Crystal and Pip a part of the film.”

According to StarWars.com, the film is also taking a wee bit of a break in production — but don’t worry, it won’t affect the release date. “In August, the team will take a brief two-week hiatus while adjustments to the current production schedule are made as actor Harrison Ford recovers from a leg injury. Harrison is doing well and is looking forward to returning to the set soon. Shooting remains on track to wrap in the fall with the film scheduled for release on December 18, 2015.”

Now let’s get back to the newbies!

Of the two newcomers, Crystal Clarke is the latest American to join the force, though she has been studying acting in Glasgow, Scotland. In addition to Episode VII, Clarke has been a regular on the ...
