This Retro Clip Of Weezer Explaining ‘The Sweater Song’ Is Really Weezer-y

by 05/10/14

I have a vivid memory of skipping out to FYE at the Crystal Mall in Waterford, Connecticut, to pick up Weezer‘s self-titled debut record, which dropped 20 years ago today. A lot of singing-in-the-car followed said purchase, as well as vigorous mirror-dancing.

This memory invoked two thoughts within my weekend-addled brain: 1). I am an old person who is old. 2). I still don’t really understand what “Undone (The Sweater Song)” means.

The below clip — which we dug from the MTV vaults — does little to illuminate.

Check out the Weezer dudes unraveling our collective mind sweaters below.

Watch Harry Styles Whip Out His … New Crotch Tattoo

by 05/09/14

Well, Harry “Hazza” Styles said he loves getting naked — and often. We were forewarned. Still, that knowledge didn’t prevent fans from going insane the other night when Styles unzipped his pants on stage in Brazil to reveal a tiny new tattoo honoring the locale.

Yup, Styles’ quest to become the most-tatted teen idol rages on — watch out Bieber and (fellow bro) Sheeran!

First, those lower-belly fern tattoos made an appearance while the boy bander was splashin’ and relaxin’ poolside. Now, it seems dude is playing “how low can you go?” with the tattoo needle — that “Brasil!” piece is pret-ty DL.

It’s still uncertain whether the tat is the real deal or not — a Vine of the big reveal states that it’s temporary — but, either way, I’m sure 1D fans appreciate the peepshow.

Watch again and again and again and again below:

This Claymation Video Of The Orwells Destroying ‘Letterman’ Melted Our Faces

by 05/09/14

The Internet is a highly subjective and toothy place, but I don’t care. I’m going to go ahead and say it: This claymation video of The Orwells destroying “Late Night with David Letterman” is the best thing on the Web (that has been posted within the last few hours or so).

The detail in this video is incredible — from the pained expression on Mario’s face when he slumps in the hallowed guest chair to Paul Shaffer’s unrestrained glee when he shouts, “One more time! One more time!”

All that’s missing is Mario’s borderline-obscene prone-on-the-floor hip thrusts. Maybe they ran out of clay.

Paranormal Investigator Debunks Demi Lovato Ghost Snap

by 05/08/14

Remember “Demi Lovato And The Case Of The Creepy Floating Ghost Head” (a.k.a. what is sure to be the next “Nancy Drew” smash)?

Well, we’ve got some more fuel to add to the ghostly fire in the form of expert analysis — courtesy of Timothy Davis, director of Center for Paranormal Investigation Association.

To back up for those not familiar with the tale: A photo has been making the round on Twitter featuring Demi Lovato sporting a lovely, shiny jacket — which a creepy-eyed ghost appears to be checking out covetously.

Lovato has had her share of ghostly encounters in the past — her house is haunted by a child-ghost (a.k.a. the scariest brand of ghost) named Emily — so the fact that one could be following her around didn’t seem that far-fetched. (Well, depending on how you feel about ghosts).

One expert we spoke to — although skeptical of the validity of the photo — even speculated that Lovato’s messing with the dead could have prompted them to follow her.

Still, when Davis took a look at the snap, he wasn’t wholly convinced. “My opinion is that it is very a compelling photo, but without a better quality photo or more evidence, it doesn’t appear to be supernatural to me,” he told MTV News, adding, “I am leaning toward thinking that the face could be caused by the ‘perfect’ combination of a few random factors.”

“Which random factors?” you may ask. Allow him to explicate:

Sensor Noise: “This photo looks like it was ...

Lana Del Rey Promises More Sadness And Vice In Ultraviolence Track List

by 05/08/14

Is it just me, or were you all expecting Lana Del Rey’s upcoming Ultraviolence to reference Anthony Burgess’ “A Clockwork Orange” — since, you know, the term comes from that book? The track list, which dropped Thursday (May 8), however, mentions nary an Alex nor a droog.

So far we’ve only heard one track from the record — at least officially — the moody “West Coast,” for which Del Rey dropped a dreamy black and white video Wednesday.

Judging by the track list, she’ll also be hitting up the East Coast; one of the tracks is called “Brooklyn Baby.”

I’m going by the titles here, but it looks like the record will also be playing with some of the musician’s tried and true themes: money and its vices, sad-eyed lost Lolita girls, and, of course, an aesthetic kind of violence.

Check out the track list for the Dan Auerbach-produced record below:

1. “Cruel World”
2. “Ultraviolence”
3. “Shades Of Cool”
4. “Brooklyn Baby”
5. “West Coast”
6. “Sad Girl”
7. “Pretty When You Cry”
8. “Money Power Glory”
9. “Fucked My Way Up To The Top”
10. “Old Money”
11. “The Other Woman”
12. “Black Beauty” *
13. “Guns And Roses” *
14. “Florida Kilos” *

Katy Perry, You Need To See This Tiny Hamster Eating Tiny Pizza

by 05/08/14

Dear Katy Perry: You are probably not feeling as down as you were last week, when you posted that amazing video of hamsters munching on burritos to brighten your day (and ours!).

You have that Prismatic Tour and those questionable emojis and whatnot, so you’re probably feeling pretty rad.

Still, sadness lurks in all of our hearts — so, as a preemptive action, I give you this glory of glories: a video of a tiny hamster eating a tiny slice of pizza!

Aw, he eats ‘za the same way we all do — with unrestrained joy and boundness relish!

You’re welcome, Katy. You’re welcome.

Imagine Dragons Get Pranked Hard By Nico Vega — Oh, How We Laughed

by 05/08/14

If you’re down with Imagine Dragons singer Dan Reynolds’ belt-out-like-damn vocals on “Radioactive,” you’ll be way into Nico Vega singer Aja Volkman’s take on the jam. Really, guys, it’s an eardrum-burster — literally.

Nico Vega, who plan to drop their new record Lead To Light this summer, like to mess around while on tour — especially with long-time friends Imagine Dragons.

Many jokes were made, pranks played — but one, executed by Volkman, stood out in particular. It involves one wily monitor guy, a crowd of thousands and some truly terrible-rific vocals courtesy of Volkman who is, by the way, married to Reynolds.

That’s one way to keep the spark alive.

First Nirvana, Now This — All Of St. Vincent’s Dreams Come True

by 05/07/14

Those “severed crossed fingers” have really paid off for Annie Clark — after years of releasing glowing, yet twisted tunes as St. Vincent, a duo of dreams have been manifest.

First, St. Vincent shredded at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction ceremony, busting out a cover of Nirvana’s “Lithium” with the remaining members in honor of their induction.

Now, she’s primed to play “Saturday Night Live”‘s season finale on May 17, an honor she calls a “dream come true.”

Check out the video below for more of Clark’s thoughts on the experiences.

Oh, bonus! She told us what she will be performing on “SNL” — “Birth In Reverse” and “Digital Witness.” Singing about TV ON TV? How meta.

So… A Ghost Is Probably Stalking Demi Lovato

by 05/07/14

So it’s entirely possible that Demi Lovato has a stalker. Not the fleshy kind (although I’m guessing she has those, too): the undead kind. As in a ghost. As in a ghost might be following her around. Yeah, I know.

“What proof do you have?” you might ask, narrowing your eyes and looking at your screen askance. Well, firstly there’s the terrifying image that has been making the rounds on Twitter of Lovato — clad in a kicky military-esque jacket — a creepy, grinning face looming over her shoulder.

Secondly, we know for a fact that Lovato believes in the paranormal and, in fact, lives in a haunted house in Texas. She has enlisted ghost hunters and mediums to interact with the spirit, who is an 11-year-old named Emily who enjoys messing with computers and cellphones (much like your average 11-year-old girl).

Thirdly, I asked an expert — namely, Brandon Alvis, founder of the American Paranormal Research Association.

“From my analysis I can’t 100% say that the ‘ghostly face’ is a spirit,” he told MTV News on Wednesday (May 7). “One thing to note is if Demi Lovato is a ghost hunting enthusiast and claims to have a strong connection with the afterlife, it is very possible that a ghost or spirit could be attached to her because of her previous attempts at communicating with the dead.”

Perhaps Emily has decided to take her show on the road? Maybe she’s a Lovatic!
