David Beckham Loved This Jay Z Line So Much He Got It Tattooed

by 7 mins ago

When Beyonce and Jay Z took their On The Run tour to the Los Angeles Rose Bowl, they probably didn’t realize they would change the life of David Beckham forever. During the concert on August 2, Jay Z reportedly ad-libbed an encouraging line to the crowd: “Dream big, be unrealistic.”

Now, this might sound like a rather mundane line to the average concert-goer, but the adage seems to have hit home for both David and his wife Victoria, who tweeted the line shortly after, along with her admiration for the royal couple of music.

But David Beckham did more than post the lines on his personal micro-blogging account. Instead, he had them tattooed on his hand; the black, scripted letters will now serve as a constant reminder for the former soccer player whenever he glances down.

You can get a glimpse of it here, on the top of his right hand:

And here it is a little closer:

(The words are indecipherable at this range but you get the idea, placement-wise)

Considering Beckham already has an extensive collection of ink, what’s a little more? Especially in the name of dreaming big. Inking an uplifting phrase on your knuckles is one thing, but the words are facing away from his body, so they’re clearly meant for others to read. Anyone close enough to decipher a phrase on David Beckham’s hand, that is.

Personally, I’m waiting on Victoria to get ***FLAWLESS across ...

What Does Kristen Wiig Have To Say About The ‘Ghostbusters’ Rumors?

by 21 mins ago

When the news broke that Paul Feig might have been tapped to direct an all-female reboot of the cult classic “Ghosbusters” franchise, a brief and sudden storm of fan-fervor erupted.

And while no further information has really been released, the speculation continued during this week’s Toronto International Film Festival, “Ghosbuster” alum Bill Murray told the Toronto Star who he thought the ideal cast for a female remake would be.

Melissa [McCarthy] would be a spectacular Ghostbuster. And Kristen Wiig is so funny — God, she’s funny!” Murray said. “I like this girl Linda Cardellini (who played Sylvia on “Mad Men”) a lot. And Emma Stone is funny. There are some funny girls out there.”

Of course, with Feig involved, most “Bridesmaid” fans were already hoping for McCarthy and Wiig to be included in the project, but there’s also talk of Tina Fey and Amy Poehler getting involved.

So what did Kristen Wiig have to say about her Murray-approved nomination?

“I will do whatever Bill Murray tells me to,” she dead-panned to Yahoo Moviest when they brought up the topic at another TIFF press junket today (September 10).

While it’s definitely not a confirmation, it’s certainly not a no. When posed the same question by the Star, McCarthy expressed interest but admitted that so far, she hadn’t been approached.

As for Wiig’s former “Saturday Night Live” and current “The Skeleton Twins” co-star Bill ...

RIP iPod Classic: A Look Back At The Many Faces Of The First iPod

by 30 mins ago

With all the fanfare that accompanied Apple’s introduction of the new, bigger iPhone 6 and the brand spanking new Apple Watch, the company tried to quietly close the door on an old favorite: the iPod classic. As of yesterday, the product is no longer listed on Apple’s site, and it appears that they have discontinued this first version of the iPod entirely.

For a lot of people, this was the first Apple product they owned, and the iPod classic helped redefine the way we consumed and listened to music. It replaced the walkman and pretty much every other portable music player with relative ease. But, the classic was our first look at the way Apple would improve and polish their products in such innovative ways that we needed the newer model every time an update came out.

So let’s take a look back at the seven different generations of our first favorite iPod.

The First Generation

ipodhistory.com

Released October 2001, this was the first ever iPod. It could hold between 5-10 GB of music, and Apple achieved its small size by using a 1.8″ hard drive while competitors were still using 2.5″ ones. The mechanical scrolling wheel was a huge deal—and remained a key feature for the classic all the way through design—with the four other function buttons around the sides.

The Second Generation

Nearly identical to the first generation, this one came out in 2002 and could hold 10-20 GB. It used the same body ...

The Atlanta Hawks Are The Latest NBA Team For Sale Due To Racism

by 8 mins ago

In the wake of the scandal caused by the racist comments that Los Angeles Clippers’ owner Donald Sterling made, Atlanta Hawks owner Bruce Levenson has decided to sell his shares in the team after self-reporting a racist email from two years ago.

According to AP News Levenson sent the email in question approximately two years ago in August 2012 to the team’s co-owners and manager Danny Ferry. In the email he outlined his concerns about the team’s predominantly black fanbase and commented that the crowds were 70 percent black, the cheerleaders were black and the music choices were hip-hop, among other concerns.

An excerpt from the email touches on these things:

“My theory is that the black crowd scared away the whites and there are simply not enough affluent black fans to build a signficant season ticket base. Please don’t get me wrong. There was nothing threatening going on in the arean [sic] back then. I never felt uncomfortable, but I think southern whites simply were not comfortable being in an arena or at a bar where they were in the minority.”

Now, he has called the correspondence “inappropriate and offensive” and decided today (September 7) that he will sell his share in the Hawks.

“I have said repeatedly that the NBA should have zero tolerance for racism, and I strongly believe that to be true,” Levenson said in the statement. “That is why I voluntarily reported my inappropriate email to the NBA. After much long and difficult contemplation, I ...

by 22 mins ago

Anyone who has been keeping tabs on Miley Cyrus‘ colorful, eccentric Instagram account knows that the singer has been diving head first into a whole new world of creativity: visual art. Now, Billboard reveals what Miley has really been up—she’s premiering an art collection.

The collection is entitled “Dirty Hippie” and it will premiere this Wednesday (September 10) during Jeremy Scott’s New York Fashion Week show. Starting the day after the show (September 11), it will be on display in the V Magazine offices gallery at 11 Mercer Street in New York. No word yet on how long it will be on display.

Miley appears on the cover of this month’s V Magazine, which is out the same day that her art show premieres. So what inspired her to create this art? When things in her life took a turn for the worse this year.

“This seems so f—ing lame to say but I feel like my art became kind of a metaphor— an example of my life,” Miley said. “Because a bunch of sh—y things kept happening. I’ve always been so f—ing lucky. Everything has always just been easy for me. And at the beginning of this year, I hated 2014 because everything that could go wrong kept going wrong. Being in the hospital, my dog dying…Everything just kept sh—ing on me and sh—ing on me. So then I started taking ...

The ‘How I Met Your Mother’ Ending We All Wanted Is Finally Here

by 22 mins ago

When “How I Met Your Mother” bowed out this past March, many fans of the show could barely contain their outrage. It was not the ending that people were looking for, and it wasn’t really the reaction that the creators of the show were looking for either. After the backlash, the show’s creator Carter Bays tweeted as much:

Yeah, those don’t seem like the words of someone who is pleased with the fan reaction. It’s got to be tough to put that much work into something and see everyone hate it, right? Maybe that’s why he also wanted to let people know that there was still hope.

The promise of an alternate, happier ending for the show also began to circulate after this set of tweets:

And it looks like this version is now online.

Well, now the other ending is here. It features a mini-recap of the whole show, a little bit of courage and, well… I’ll let you bask in the romance yourself:

Gisele Bündchen Sends A Powerful Message In This New Under Armour Commercial

by 7 mins ago

When Under Armour announced that supermodel Gisele Bündchen would be one of the faces for their new ad campaign, some people didn’t think she was up to the job. Detractors took to social media posting comments about how she was just a model and modeling isn’t a sport and on and on—haters gonna hate, right?

Well, after this backlash, Gisele and Under Armour decided to respond to the negativity by turning it into powerful motivation.

“This incredibly inspirational initiative serves as a powerful reminder of all the amazing things women can do despite the pressures and criticisms we may encounter,” Bündchen said in a statement. “Having the strength to tune out negativity and remain focused on what I want gives me the will and confidence to achieve my goals.”

So in the clip, we see the model kick boxing and hitting a punching bag with force while the insults and derogatory words, along with encouragement flash behind her.

The ad’s final message appears on the screen at the end: “I Will What I Want.” It’s a statement that encourages women to choose for themselves, and one that sums up an even bigger reality of judgement that women constantly face from the media and from society. Plus it’s great to watch the generally cool, calm and collected Gisele kick some serious ass.

You may remember the first entry into this series—the incredible ballerina Misty Copeland, who we spoke to for part of our “Look Different” series.

It’s great to see Under Armour ...

Blake Lively Celebrated Beyonce’s Birthday With ‘Beyhive’ Cake

by 21 mins ago

September 4 was a special day for all of us who look up to Queen Bey, but Blake Lively has probably secured her spot as Beyoncé‘s number one fan by making an insane ‘Beyhive’ cake.

Lively posted a video of her ambitious dessert on her lifestyle blog Preserve‘s Instagram account, writing a special note for her friend and collaborator: “In honor of the Queen of all Bs…I had to make this Meyer Lemon Honey cake. Happy Birthday Beyoncé!!! Xxo Blake.”

The 27-year-old actress worked with Beyoncé earlier this year, appearing in her video entitled “Run”—a fake trailer for a movie that features the Beyonce and Jay Z collaboration “Part II (On The Run)” playing in the background. And they must’ve bonded on set, because in June the two B’s were photographed hanging out together at Gucci’s Chime for Change charity event.

On Thursday, Jay Z honored his wife’s 33rd birthday by posting a 33-second YouTube video on his Life+Times website. His video production might be on point, but apparently his baking skills are a little lacking compared to Lively’s.

Check out footage of Lively’s ‘Beyhive’ cake—complete with bees!!—below.
