Ready to run rambunctiously around a red raceway with Rihanna after riding a rowdy roller coaster like a reckless Ruff Ryder? OK, that made absolutely no sense, but we wanted to express our excitement for R5′s new EP Heart Made Up On You — which drops July 22 and is available for preorder tonight at midnight ET — and overusing words that begin with the letter “R” felt the most appropriate.

While little is known about the new record, when MTV News caught up with the fivesome earlier this summer, we peer-pressured them into giving us some info on their full-length album, out September 30 (and playing a ridiculous game, which you can watch by clicking on the video below).

“The new record, we’re still finishing it, it’s coming along really, really nicely,” Ross Lynch from the group explained. “It’s sort of a natural evolution of R5 and we’re just letting it all happen naturally, we’re letting it do it’s thing.”

“There was nothing really set in stone, the songs just started coming and writing and stuff like that, the sound of it totally happened on its own, and we’re really, really stoked about it,” brother and bandmate Riker Lynch chimed in. “I’m super pumped.”

With a “darker,” more “in your face” sound, the band say their sophomore LP will have a more mature sound than their debut.

DOVER, Delaware — Whether he’s kicking it with the Biebs or getting his karaoke on with Psy, there’s no question about it: Ed Sheeran knows how to party.

So when MTV News caught up with Dutch DJ/producer Martin Garrix after his set at the Firefly Music Festival, we weren’t surprised to learn he too experienced a wild night with the singer/songwriter after a recording session in the Netherlands.

The duo teamed up for a track entitled “Rewind Repeated,” after meeting in Los Angeles. Upon expressing interest in working together, Garrix shared a chord progression he’d been working on during an earlier flight, and Sheeran took it from there.

“Like, one or two days later he sent me a WhatsApp message with a voice note, like, ‘Do you like this?’ and I was like, ‘Oh, this is amazing.’ And before I knew it he wrote the complete top line on it and, yeah, right now I’m working on the track around the top line,” the 18-year-old explained.

So when can we finally hear this collaboration? According to Garrix, it will be available for your listening pleasure very soon.

“Almost finished, we’re just tweaking, I’m tweaking the little things right now, he already delivered an amazing vocal and there are plans to work on a lot more tracks as well,” he said. “I’m thinking about making two versions, one more sweet, and one really for the festivals, like, it’s going to be fun, I’m excited.”

From the outside, Chris Colfer’s life might seem like a fairytale. He stars in the hit show “Glee,” has a best-selling book trilogy and is beloved by an army of adoring fans. But when MTV News caught up with the 24-year-old while he was promoting the third installment from his Land of Stories series, he explained his world is far from picture perfect.

“I remember when ‘Glee’ first started I would state the facts that I was a kid in Clovis, [California] who went to an audition and got this job and I was painted as this Cinderella person and, you know, of course, what they didn’t see was the years of cyber bullying I went through and the people that are really just viscous online because someone else has an opportunity and that wasn’t fun at all,” he said. “And I was like, this is such good material for Cinderella to kind of take a spin on it.”

The star describes his third book, A Grimm Warning, as “an action-packed mystery historical thriller” in which he begs fans not to read a single page out of order.

“There are so many twists and turns I wouldn’t want anything to be ruined,” Colfer exclaimed. “It’s a story about an army from the past coming to the present and trying to conquer the fairytale world in the name of the French empire so it has a lot of twists.”

From her MTV Movie Award-nominated kiss with Miles Teller in “The Spectacular Now,” to her steamy smooch sesh with Theo James in “Divergent,” Shailene Woodley‘s had her fair share of onscreen lip-locks.

But when MTV News recently caught up with John Green on the TIME 100 red carpet in New York, “The Fault in Our Stars” author didn’t have much to say about his leading lady’s “X’s” but quite a bit to say about her “O’s.”

“The first time we met, we hugged the regular way and then she looked very, very deeply into my eyes from like two inches away — it’s pretty intense — and then she said, ‘I need some heart to heart,’ and then we hugged the other way so that our hearts touched,” Green said. “And now every time I see Shailene, we hug heart to heart — it’s great. I’m such a huge fan of hers; she’s awesome.”

In the film adaptation of Green’s young adult bestseller, Woodley plays 16-year-old cancer patient Hazel Grace Lancaster. And while he was thrilled to see his story played out on the silver screen — “I’ve seen the movie twice!” — he seemed even more excited for fans to see his hug buddy in action.

Whether she’s by her husband’s side on a red carpet or being dubbed one-third of Rihanna’s #FamCrush, Pharrell’s wife, Helen Lasichanh, has gotten quite a bit of media attention of late. And though the model/fashion designer tied the knot with the 41-year-old super-producer in October, the video for his new single, “Marilyn Monroe,” gives us reason to believe she might need to keep her man on a short leash.

When MTV News caught up with Pharrell Tuesday night at the TIME 100 Gala in New York City, however, the “Happy” singer admitted that, yes, he likes “all kinds of girls,” but his admiration for the ladies isn’t the only message to be taken away from the vid.

“You don’t have to live your life trying to fit into a box or a category or a classification that this statuesque standard of what beauty is in America, and around the world essentially; [it] needs to be addressed,” he said. “Beauty comes in all shapes and sizes. There’s a parallel in nature with, like, snowflakes and humans: Both can be cool but there’s none that are the same. Even identical twins, you know [aren't the same], so the beauty, to me, is the difference in people.”

Pharrell went from “Happy” to “Hot In Herre” Tuesday night at the 2014 TIME 100 Gala in New York City. The hip-pop heavyweight, who was being recognized as one of TIME‘s Most Influential People, attended the event rocking his trademark hat, but maybe even more noteworthy, a Mickey Mouse Band-Aid on his chin.

Although the 41-year-old honoree told MTV News the bandage was to cover a scratch, we couldn’t help but wonder if he was taking style cues from his good pal Nelly.

It would be no surprise since the Neptunes producer helped pen a number of the St. Louis rapper’s hit songs and recently invited him to join forces onstage during Pharrell’s set at Coachella earlier this month.

While we assume Pharrell just sported the Disney dressing as a fun way to disguise his blemish, Nelly’s signature was actually in support of an incarcerated family member — he has no plan to bring back the retro look.

“I would hope I wouldn’t have to because when I was doing it at the time, my little brother was locked up,” Nelly told MTV News’ Sway during an episode of “RapFix Live” in October. “I’m hoping I ain’t going to have to put no Band-Aids back on. All is well right now.”

After a series of shows in the U.K. and U.S., Australian boy band 5 Seconds of Summer have returned to their motherland and couldn’t be more pumped. In celebration of their return, Calum’s mom dressed his bed with a new set of “really girly” sheets (insert thoughts of yourself rolling in them here), but even more exciting, the guys released the album artwork for their new single “Don’t Stop.” And it’s adorable – eek!
