Jacquie Lee Sends Inspo Your Way With ‘Broken Ones’ Video

by 6 mins ago

Jacquie Lee knows a thing or two about baring down until reaching greatness. The 17-year-old started off as a normal girl but slowly made her way through TV singing competition “The Voice.” And although she finished as runner-up, she now has a record deal with Atlantic — and an inspirational video for “Broken Ones” to help others realize their talents.

“We all’ve been broken once/ so let’s love the broken ones,” the singer belts on the chorus of “Broken Ones,” a track off her EP of the same name, out today on Atlantic.

“I would describe it as real, raw music,” Jacquie told MTV News when we asked her about her EP last week. “It’s very honest, in my opinion. It’s totally real ‘cause that’s my biggest concern. I wanted people to listen to real music and real lyrics so that they could relate to it. Everything came from the heart.”

The video follows various down-on-their-luck teenage girls as they struggle to find their creative identity in an abandoned building. But out of the depression, a ballerina sprouts up, a painter transforms old walls, a writer finds her words and a pianist gets the courage to play. If you’re looking for motivation, this is it.

Nick Jonas’ ‘Wilderness’ Is Your Prehistoric Sex Anthem: Listen

by 2 mins ago

Nick Jonas wants to get you naked in the woods… but not in a scary murdery way, I swear. On his new song, “Wilderness,” Nick strips away distractions to deal with basic human desire — and that is, uh, reproduction?

The song, which dropped early Tuesday morning (October 21), takes listeners back to caveman days — sexual caveman days. That said, it’s not hard to imagine Nick grabbing his loin-clothed crotch (just sayin’).

“Before the fire/ We discovered desire/ There’s no use so you can just let me hear you breathing/ Or I’ll overheat it,” Jonas croons on the track, a Bruno-esque sex jam off his upcoming self-titled album, out November 10.

With “Wilderness,” we get a staccato piano beat, falsetto goodness and whole lot of hollering from men in the background — perhaps they’re hungry for gazelle?

Nick continues to distance himself from his Jonas Brother past. “Wilderness” follows solo jams “Jealous,” “Chains” and “Numb,” featuring Angel Haze.

Iggy Azalea digs Nick Jonas and so do her friends.

The ‘Vanity Fair’ 2003 ‘Teen Girls’ Cover: Where Are They Now?

by 14 mins ago

While it’s been more than a decade since Vanity Fair rounded up some of Hollywood’s brightest, young talent, its 2003 cover featuring Amanda Bynes, the Olsen twins, Mandy Moore, Hilary Duff and more has become iconic. “Never forget” is a mantra that both a fan and Evan Rachel Wood chanted last week when Wood spewed her thoughts about the photo shoot with her cohorts.

“I was almost in tears after this shoot. They tried that dress on me, I wasn’t comfortable but they told me there was no time,” she wrote, tweeting several more admissions last week, including that her mag cover co-stars hogged her prep time.

So just what have these bright young Hollywood things — the coverline read “It’s totally raining teens” — turned-20- and 30-somethings been doing these days? MTV News breaks it down:

Listen To Taylor Swift’s ‘Welcome To New York’ Tease Now!

by 19 mins ago

Taylor Swift is dropping another new song from 1989, and it’s coming at midnight! And guess what? She gave us a little clip Monday morning (October 20). Hallelujah!

Taylor teased the single yesterday on Twitter, showing off photos of the city and a snap of her taking in the NYC skyline.

“I started the album with ‘Welcome To New York’ because New York has been an important landscape and location for the story of my life in the last couple of years,” Swift said in a press release. “It’s like an electric city, and I approached moving there with such wide-eyed optimism. I saw New York as a place of endless potential and possibilities and you can hear that reflected in this music and in this song.”

Taylor Swift moved to New York City this summer and has been loving it. “Welcome to New York” will serve as her ode to the city. The singer recently invited her fans to her SoHo apartment for her 1989 Secret Sessions. She’s even been trying to convince friend Selena Gomez to move there.

The song, co-written with Ryan Tedder and produced by Tedder, Noel Zancanella and Swift, will be out at 11:59 p.m. ET tonight.

San Francisco Bans Lorde From The Radio

by 1 min ago

Now why on Earth would you want to ban a song from the airwaves? In the case of Lorde’s “Royals,” it’s because sports are involved.

The San Francisco Giants are up against the Kansas City Royals in the World Series, so naturally, you can’t have any songs about the opposing baseball team on the radio. Fans asked stations KFOG and KOIT to put the track to bed for about a week — until the seven-game match-up is over (it may be longer if the Royals come out victorious).

And before you say, “Hey, Lorde wasn’t singing about Kansas City! That’s no fair!” You’re so, so wrong.

The 17-year-old New Zealand native was, in fact, singing about the major-league team. She once told VH1 that she drew inspiration for the song from a National Geographic picture of the Royals’ George Brett. So, basically, don’t invite Lorde to San Fran for a while…

Calvin Harris And Ellie Goulding’s ‘Outside’ Is Your New Breakup Jam

by 24 mins ago

While Ellie Goulding and Calvin Harris got all smoochy for 2012′s “I Need Your Love,” the duo’s latest collaboration, “Outside,” follows a doomed love.

The track starts slow, Ellie’s airy voice urgently telling the story of being excommunicated from a relationship. “Thought I’d been so strong/ There’s a power in what you do/ Now every other day I’ll be watching you.” Calvin creates a sinister counter-melody with a detached, string-like motif that carries throughout the song.

And it wouldn’t be a dance track without those claps building up to the climax, where the lyrics take a vengeful turn. “I’ll show you what it feels like/ Now I’m on the outside.”

“Outside” is a track off Harris’ Motion album, out October 31, and follows the producer’s first single, “Slow Acid.” The LP also includes features from Gwen Stefani, Tinashe, Haim and Big Sean.

by 8 mins ago

You better be gearing up for a whole lot of Gwen. Gwen Stefani is bursting with new music, and she gave us her new song “Baby Don’t Lie” at midnight.

Written by Stefani, Benny Blanco, OneRepublic’s Ryan Tedder and Noel Zancanella, the song is featured on the singer’s upcoming solo record — her first since 2006′s Sweet Escape. The dancey track focuses on a pulsing, tropical beat, a simple melody and Gwen’s vocal inflections. Take a listen!

Along with her own album, Stefani has plans to release a No Doubt album. She’s been in the studio with old pal Pharrell (are we getting another “Hollaback Girl”?) and is featured on Calvin Harris’ Motion.

Taylor Swift Wrote Lena Dunham’s ‘Someday Wedding Song’: See The Lyrics

by 32 mins ago

Taylor Swift shared even more 1989 lyrics on Friday morning (October 17), as she has been in the days leading up to the release of her fifth album. But this time, there’s a turn of adorable events. Lena Dunham tweeted that those words belong to her future wedding song.

Swift unveiled the lyrics to her bonus track — “One night, he wakes/ Strange look on his face/ Pauses, then says/ ‘You’re my best friend’/ And you know what is was/ He is in love.” The handwritten words sit atop a bed of roses, and there’s not doubt that this is a love story.

In the wee hours of the morning (seriously, ladies, how do you stay awake?), BFF Lena tweeted, “my someday wedding song, as you know.”

It’s more than enough to fan-fictionalize Dunham’s wedding with boyfriend Jack Antonoff, though Lena has said they won’t wed until it is legal for her gay sister Grace to marry. Since Antonoff is a collaborator and bud of Taylor’s (he co-wrote and produced “Out of the Woods“), I can imagine that T.S. would be on hand at the reception to sing that sucker live.

Fingers crossed for you guys!

1989 drops on October 27.

Blake Lively Has Wanted To Be Pregnant ‘Since I Was A Little Girl’

by 31 mins ago

Blake Lively debuted her baby bump on the God’s Love We Deliver, Golden Heart Awards red carpet in New York City on Thursday night. The actress sparkled in a pink and purple dress, smiling and posing for pictures.

The actress announced her pregnancy earlier in October on her lifestyle website Preserve, with pictures of an autumnal harvest party and several pregnant friends gathered around.

“It’s something that I’ve always wanted ever since I was a little girl,” she told Us Weekly about her pregnancy. “I never knew what I wanted to do for a living but I knew I wanted to have a lot of kids because I had come from a big family, so it was always important to me. So it’s just the excitement of that finally being here.”

“Big family”? It seems like this is just the beginning for Lively and husband Ryan Reynolds, who married in September 12 at the Boone Hall Plantation, just outside of Charleston, South Carolina.

“He’s always good to me,” Lively said. “That’s like a jerky thing to say because you want to be able to complain about your husband and be that person, but he takes pretty good care of me.”

‘August: Osage County’ Actress Misty Upham Found Dead After Disappearing For 12 Days

by 1 min ago

The body of actress Misty Upham was found in a Seattle ravine on Thursday afternoon, a family spokesperson confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter. The “August: Osage County” and “Frozen River” actress had been missing since October 5.

Upham’s uncle, who was in the family’s search party, found the body, and her father, Charles Upham, identified it for police. Charles Upham had said his daughter had bipolar disorder and feared she may have been suicidal. But after viewing the body, the family didn’t think Upham took her own life.

According to Seattle-based filmmaker Tracy Rector, Upham’s family had been searching for three days and blamed the Auburn Police Department for not assisting in the search.

“First and foremost,” Rector, who was also part of the search told THR, “the family wants everyone to know that the Auburn police did not help with this situation at all. They refused to help. When she disappeared on October 5, the family knew something was seriously wrong — it was out of character for her to be gone so long without being in touch — and they repeatedly went to the police, who insisted there was no cause for concern.”

The King County Coroner’s Office will address the media about the case on Friday.

Upham played Johnna Monevata in “August” and Lila Littlewolf in “Frozen River.” She also had parts in “The Dry Land,” “Django Unchained,” TV series “Big Love” and “Cake.” She was currently filming a thriller called “Crawlspace.”

After news of Upham’s death spread, ...
