Rumors of Kanye West‘s teaching stint as part of his sentence to 24 months of probation and 250 hours of community service have been circling since June. But interest in Ye as professor has piqued once again when one of his students posted photos from Yeezy’s most recent lecture session to Instagram. It’s hard to look at the pics and *not* imagine what it would be like to sit in on a class taught by Kanye, so we’re taking it one step further and offering up a 100% fantasy account of what it could have been like in this installment of Fashion Fanfic.

The day started like every other: I found a decently close parking spot in the school lot, I scored a seat in the exact middle of the classroom—not too close to get called on a bunch but not too far to look like I wasn’t trying, I even had a little time before class to catch up on my Instagram feed before things got underway. “Why do you want a t-shirt covered in tampons?” you may be wondering/asking aloud/shouting at your screen. Well, first of all, it’s covered in tampon boxes—and a few Diva Cups—but to answer your question, it’s because I have a predilection for things that make other people uncomfortable. And the human menstrual cycle is just one of those magical things in life that is—scientifically speaking—universally uncomfy-making.

The curveball here, though, is that tampons are actually pretty trendy right now. I mean, there was a London Fashion Week show THIS WEEK that sent models down the runway with bloody tampon earrings. Also, to quote Charli XCX (who BTW wants to sell tampons as merch at her shows), “PERIODS ARE PUNK,” and this shirt might be the punkest of all. Why? Because it’s the handiwork of Seth Bogart of Cali-based punk band Hunx & His Punx (and recent Saint Laurent collaborator).

Punk tampons? YSL fashun cred? AND it’s PINK??!? ADD TO CART. DONE. BYE.

New York Fashion Week may be over, but the rest of Fashion Month and its international tour—waddup London, Milan, and Paris—is rolling on, so you can’t blame us for wanting to keep the dream alive with a look back at our MTVFILES series with the wonderful, hilarious, inspiring folks at VFiles. For this eighth and final part, we tagged along with our VFiles fam Chris Kutlesa and Danielle Greco as they got ready for and hit up the Diesel Black Gold show.

It was a super fun and glamorous time (note to self: get on the inside track with someone who can let you raid a store for clothes), and their LOL Statler and Waldorf commentary during the show made it even better.

Sure, there’s obviously a reason they make their livings making photos beautiful and adapting to whatever concept is thrown their way, but you don’t (or at least I didn’t) fully comprehend just HOW good these ladies and gents are at their jobs until we put them on the spot, shoving a camera in their faces and giving them ridiculous posing prompts.

Rounding out our series of designer profiles from the VFiles Made Fashion show is Tigran Avetisyan. The Moscow-based graduate of Central Saint Martins exhibited a primary-colored unisex collection of swishy garments inspired by his travels. More specifically, Tigran was inspired by five fragrance bottles he encountered frequently in airport Duty Free stores across the globe.

The collection is a frenetic mishmash of ripped print pieces heat-transferred onto oversized polyester t-shirts, shorts, tunics and trenches. No one piece is alike, no crease or slight detail is replicable, everything is one-of-one. The clothes are so light Tigran told us he felt like he was naked—which, in the spring and summer is SUCH a boon. Also, he taught me what a “butt seam” is, so there’s that.

What would you call a fashion collection that takes the past’s vision of the future (i.e. the 1990s’ image of what the world would be like post-millennium) and turns it into clothes for the present? Inception? Meta? A little of both? Well, it’s actually called D.TT.K.‘s Spring/Summer 2015 collection. One of four designers shown at this season’s VFiles Made Fashion show, the newest offerings from D.TT.K. take that meta approach and spin it with additional inspiration from Japan’s bōsōzoku biker gangs.

On paper, it’s a strange combination of influences, but on the runway, it translates into forward-thinking motocross separates, paper-bagged pants, chest protectors as outerwear, and even a suit made of cork. As in cork.

Guys. The New York Fashion Week collaboration of the year just dropped this afternoon, and we were there to watch it go down! Streetwear giant Jeremy Scott joined forces with pop princess Miley Cyrus and immediately became the wildest fashion dream team of NYFW. Miley’s art was incorporated into Jeremy’s Spring/Summer 2015 show by way of a collection of colorful DIY necklaces, bracelets, and even a hat!

Miley sat front row (with her mom, 2 Chainz, Bella Thorne, Whoopi Goldberg) to watch her creations hit the runway styled with Jeremy’s new collection—which was very 1999′s version of the late ’60s. Clearly excited to see her art come to life, Miley had a giant smile plastered on her face, cheered on the models, and even took the final walk with Jeremy.

Dasha Selyanova is originally from St. Petersburg, Russia but took her ZDDZ label to London, where the fashion industry is teeming with experimental, off-the-wall young talent. Former intern to Mel Ottenberg, Dasha has had her designs worn by Rita Ora but until this week, had never shown at fashion week before. Enter: the style soothsayers at VFiles and their seasonal VFiles Made Fashion show.

The team plucked ZDDZ from the internet ether, giving her graphic sporty separates a platform in Webster Hall. We caught up with the designer before the show to talk about drawing inspiration from random signage–street signs, packaging, whatever’s in front of her–and appropriating and recontextualizing it with her unique sense of humor. The girl attached fake thong straps to leggings and plastered the words “OPEN AS USUAL” across the crotch of a dress, so you know she’s fun.
