If you’re anything like us, you’ve probably noticed that “goth” is having a pretty major moment in the spotlight. Thanks to the ’90s revival, it’s ~trendy~ again. But it’s evolving and mutating, too. “Health goth” is probably the most recent iteration of the all-black-everything fashion movement, which is a trend that seems to be both a parody and retread of street goth and its offshoot ninja goth. This weekend, Lana Del Rey even performed in a cemetery (she joins the likes of Bon Iver, Spoon, and more), which is notable in the sense that a place of rest has now become a venue. What really made us take notice, however, is the Met’s latest exhibit: “Death Becomes Her: A Century of Mourning Attire.”

This is notable because A.) we have a soft spot for all things goth-y in general and, B.) it’s the first time in seven years that the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute is hosting a fall exhibit at the Anna Wintour Costume Center. We heard the news back in July and were lucky enough to see it IRL—here’s what we took away from the experience.

Fashion has lost one of its greats. Last night, Oscar de la Renta passed away at the age of 82, reportedly due to complications from cancer. His loss is felt by fans of fashion, in addition to first ladies, politicians, and celebrities alike, whom he dressed with elegance and taste. “Oh my gosh, look at that costume” is probably what you’re going to hear a lot of this year if you and your friends decide to dress up as Nicki Minaj and her troop of “Anaconda”. Since we’ve already covered possible costumes from the best of Queen Bey and her visual album, it only make sense that we highlight Beyonce’s “Flawless” partner in crime. Uzo Aduba—better known as Suzanne “Crazy Eyes” Warren to Orange Is The New Black viewers—appears in Harper’s Bazaar for its “2014 Women Who Dare” feature, and she’s in good company. Aduba joins the ranks of Blondie frontwoman Debbie Harry, Chloe Sevigny, and New York Senator Kristen Gillibrand.

The Emmy-winning actress opens up about what it means for her personally to be daring, which amounts to “taking all risks and chances.” Uzo elaborates further that “It took me a long time to arrive at that—you know, from my gap teeth to my name. I’m realizing, you don’t need to change anything about yourself. This is who you are, and it’s okay. That’s daring.”

As for her iconic character, “Crazy Eyes,” we were surprised to read that while crafting the character, the eyes came last. However, that was not the case in the Harper’s Bazaar shoot by Albert Watson. Uzo appears with a Stephen Webster eye pendant and the above Carolina Herrera dress styled with those eye-catching (heh) arm embellishments. Harper’s loves a theme, and we do, too. Did you catch that the fringe doubles as eyelashes? SO GOOD.

From the minute we wake up from our slumber to the moment we crawl back into our crypts at the end of the day, we think about Halloween. Maybe it’s because it’s the one holiday that encourages you to dress up, try on different looks based on mood, and generally express yourself and your personal style through the use of fashion, beauty and copious amounts of fake blood. What’s not to love?

We’ve been giving a lot of thought to what to be this year, and naturally, with the season premiere of The Walking Dead kicking off last night, we’re big into zombies right now. You know how people say dogs can look like their owners? Well, if you’re Lady Gaga‘s dog Asia, you dress like your owner. Pretty frequently, actually. Gaga and Asia recently stepped out in matching t-shirts–Gaga in a baby pink Keith Haring tee and Asia in a baseball one–when we realized: hey, this isn’t the first time these two have matched. Below are six of our favorite matchy-matchy looks from the duo–check ‘em out!
