Wait, A Television Show About Marijuana Is Coming To… CNN?

by 7 mins ago

CNN is looking into the marijuana business.

No, seriously.

Variety reports that the 24-hour cable news channel announced Thursday (October 22) that it will add a new original series called “High Profits” to its 2015 lineup.

The eight-part series will follow Brian Rogers and Caitlin McGuire, owners of the Breckenridge Cannabis Club, as they franchise their retail marijuana stores in the wake of Colorado’s move to legalize the use and sale of recreational marijuana.

Rogers and McGuire’s venture, the largest grow facility in the state, will have to navigate customer demands, taxes, safety, legal and political hurdles, employee issues and product testing.

Well, that last one isn’t exactly what their customers would call a nuisance.

“High Profits,” which is produced by Bat Bridge Entertainment, will add to the network’s already growing line of original programming including “Somebody’s Gotta Do It With Mike Rowe,” “Anthony Bourdain Parts Unknown” and “This Is Life With Lisa Ling.”

Martin Scorsese Will Executive Produce New Documentary About The Grateful Dead

by 8 mins ago

If there were any lingering doubts that The Grateful Dead were kind of a big deal, the fact that Martin Scorsese is a fan should put them to rest.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, a new documentary about the landmark band will be executive produced by the legendary director.

“The Grateful Dead were more than just a band,” Scorsese said in a statement. “They were their own planet, populated by millions of devoted fans. I’m very happy that this picture is being made and proud to be involved.”

The doc, which will be directed by Amir Bar-Lev (“The Tillman Story”), will be released in conjunction with the psychedelic band’s 50th anniversary.

“The Tillman Story” auteur will include archival footage of Mickey Hart, Bill Kreutzmann, Phil Lesh and bandleaders Boby Weir and the late Jerry Garcia that will be fused with new interviews.

The footage—that spans half a century—includes backstage and live concert clips, and was collected by band archivist David Lemieux.

After battling to get the yet-to-be-titled film off the ground, Bar-Lev and the surviving members of the band are thrilled to see the project get the green light.

“From ‘The Last Waltz’ to ‘George Harrison: Living In The Material World,’ from Bob Dylan to the Rolling Stones, he has made some of the greatest music documentaries ever with some of our favorite artists and we are honored to have him involved,” Weir, Hart, Krueutzmann and Lesh said in a joint statement.

Aaron Paul Is Not Happy With Toys ‘R’ Us, Bitch

by 1 min ago

The news that Toys “R” Us pulled all of its “Breaking Bad” action figures from its stores and online is not sitting well with Aaron Paul.

walterMezco

The show’s star took to Twitter Thursday (October 23) to vent his frustrations over the toy store chain’s decision to put toy Walter White and toy Jesse Pinkman on “an indefinite sabbatical.”

And yes, he even pulled President Barack Obama into his mentions on the topic.

Bryan Cranston also hopped on Twitter to voice his opinion on the toy deal gone bad.

The Florida mother in question is Susan Schrivjer, who started a petition on Change.org to get the toys banned.

“Parents and grandparents around the world shop at Toys ‘R’ Us, online and in stories, with their children and should not be forced to explain why a certain toy comes with a bag of highly dangerous and illegal drugs or why someone who sells those drugs deserves to be made into an action figure,” she wrote in her plea.

Once the petition gained steam, Toys “R” Us announced that they would no longer be carrying the action figures.

Breaking Baddicts aren’t happy, either, so they started their own Change.org petition to keep the beloved characters on the retailer’s shelves. Mezco, the company behind the toys, declined to comment on the situation.

T.I. Gives Dej Loaf’s ‘Try Me’ The Grand Hustle Remix: Listen

by 8 mins ago

Dej Loaf’s “Try Me” was already a certified banger, but after getting the remix treatment by Hustle Gang’s Trae Tha Truth, T.I. and rumored new member Troy Ave, the Detroit native’s song goes to another level.

The King of the South himself sets the tone on the DDS-produced track, talking that talk with his signature drawl and manages to drop a line that seems eerily similar to the recent dust-up between Snoop Dogg and one of his flagship artists, Iggy Azalea.

“Cause won’t be sh-t to talk about, no use in calling all these people asking how to squash it now/ You violate, we demonstrate, n—a Hustle Gang over everything, I ain’t like y’all n—as anyway,” he raps.

Trae chimes in with his deep-voiced street pathos before letting his new cohort from Brooklyn add on his own lyrical icing. Check it out below.

Hold Up, Schoolboy Q And Kathy Griffin Are Secret Lovers?

by 9 mins ago

If you thought the pairing of 50 Cent and Chelsea Handler was unusual, here’s one that will blow your mind: Schoolboy Q and Kathy Griffin.

Talk about your strange bedfellows.

“Kathy Griffin, that’s the homie, that’s my secret lover right there,” the Top Dawg Entertainment rapper said during a recent appearance on ESPN’s “Highly Questionable.” “We fell in love a long time ago, and we just kept it going.”

The Oxymoron MC has a weird sense of humor, so hosts Bomani Jones and Dan Le Batard pressed just to make sure their guest wasn’t joking.

“It’s just my secret lover,” he added. “She hit me up, I come through, spend the night… I don’t have to say what I do when I spent the night. I spend the night, I wake up, I go home. Secret lovers.”

The word’s out now, so the “secret” part of the relationship is a thing of the past. But that won’t stop Q, who feels that his bond with the redheaded comedian is strong enough to withstand that — and, you know, certain other rappers currently vying for her attention.

“She just joking with A$AP Rocky and Danny Brown,” he said. “She ain’t serious with them, she serious with me. Those dudes can’t pull off a nice hat like this and glasses.”

No, they can’t, Q. No, they can’t.

What’s Income Inequality? This ‘My Little Pony’ Parody Breaks It Down

by 16 mins ago

Does “My Little Pony” have a political agenda? Not necessarily, but this new (and hilarious) Funny Or Die parody definitely does.

The Adam McKay-directed animation, titled “The Unbelievably Sweet Alpacas,” takes aim at income inequality in the United States.

It’s part of the We The Economy campaign, which seeks to drive “awareness and establish a better understanding of the U.S. economy” through 20 short films made by various filmmakers.

“The U.S. ranks 30th among the top 34 developed countries in income inequality,” reads the opening title card before three lovable alpacas enter the picture.

The colorful beasts have each graduated from “Sweetness School” and are determined to get the job of their dreams at the local Lollipop Factory.

Things don’t pan out at the factory, however — at least not for everyone. The rich alpaca gets the high-paying job, while her solidly middle-class companion with the glasses gets a management position. Meanwhile, their not-so-well-off friend doesn’t even get a job at all.

The unemployed alpaca is voiced by Amy Poehler, who brings her signature brand of sass to the character. Other characters are voiced by Billy Eichner, Maya Rudolph, Andy Richter and Sarah Silverman.

Prison Can’t Keep Meek Mill From Dropping A New Song, Or Tweeting

by 1 min ago

Meek Mill is not officially a free man yet, but the Maybach Music Group rapper just let a new song go free for the streets titled, “F–k You Mean.”

The Philly representer hasn’t tweeted from his Twitter account since July, but somehow, someway, he got the word out about his new song.

Coincidentally — or maybe not — the hard-charging track features Lil Boosie Boosie Badazz who was just released from prison himself earlier this year.

“I ask yo b—h do all this money make her nervous, she doing good and Imma pay her for her service,” Mill raps. “When bosses talkin’ shut yo mouth if you a worker, cause I been workin’ chasing money like I’m hurtin’/ Getting p—y in my Maybach, I think the driver heard us.”

The Baton Rouge MC, who recently dropped the “Lil” from his stage name, jumps in with the same lyrical fury as his cohort.

“I keep a hundred grand in these Robin jeans, what the f–k you mean?/ B—hes left me in prison, they threw away they dreams/ I’m the leader of a Mad Max murder team.”

No word on whether this banger will end up on Meek’s upcoming album, Dreams Worth More Than Money, but even if it doesn’t make the cut, this is a sign that he’ll be bringing the heat when he comes home.

So, Are Kylie Jenner and Tyga Dating? Mama Kris Says…

by 16 mins ago

As anyone will tell you, Kris Jenner knows all, so it was just a matter of time before she was asked to chime in on the rumors that 24-year-old rapper Tyga is dating her 17-year old daughter, Kylie.

The “Keeping Up With The Kardashians” star called in to “On Air With Ryan Seacrest” on Tuesday (October 21) morning to talk about her new cookbook, “In The Kitchen With Kris.” Before long, however, she had to take a sidebar into the gossip headlines.

“Kylie isn’t dating anybody,” she said. “This whole little group of kids who have been around forever… They kind of travel as a pack, and they enjoy each other’s company.

“We all live in the same neighborhood. Tyga used to live across the street for a long time, and now he lives next door to Khloe. Everyone’s always around, and, with the way I cook, they’re not leaving.”

The “40 Mill” MC wasn’t as diplomatic this past weekend when he lashed out at an Instagram follower named @smartchik78 for calling him a “nasty a-pedophile” on a post of him and his son, King Cairo Stevenson.

“smartchik78 why u sound so hateful,” he wrote back. “U don’t know s—- bout my life but the fake s—- u read online. Worry about your sad boring life. U wish u can have a baby by a n—- like me and live this lifestyle.let me guess no one wants u ...
