Chris Brown’s ‘Loyal’ Was A Big Hit Inside Of Jail Too

by 23 mins ago

If you’re in jail, you’re probably not having the best time of your life, but during Chris Brown’s stint behind bars, he had a couple of encouraging moments. In addition to learning that “Loyal” had hit #1 on the charts while he was incarcerated, Breezy reveals that the guards actually played the song inside the correctional facility.

["They were] playing it over the speakers when I was locked up,” Breezy explained to MTV News. “You know how they’d call you like, ‘Brown you’ve got a visitor’ — they would play the music and I [thought]…this is funny.”

What a co-sign. And obviously “Loyal” was even bigger outside of those walls.

“I got a call from my management team [saying] ‘Loyal’ is number one, and that’s the best feeling in the world, especially when you’re in a dark, terrible place,” he added. “You just want somebody to say ‘aye man whats up, you good?’ or just check on you, and you find out that your music is in every club and everybody’s vibing to it, there’s just no other comparison.”

Chris Brown’s anticipated X album is finally in stores on Tuesday, September 16. The project includes other hits like “Fine China,” plus that Kendrick Lamar collaboration we’ve been waiting over a year to hear.

“I wanted it to be more of acelebration [of] the 10 years I’ve been doing [this] and being blessed to be successful for ...

Is Big Sean Aiming At Naya Rivera On His New Songs?

by 6 mins ago

We haven’t heard new music from Big Sean in a minute, but he came back strong on Friday (September 12). Just a day after announcing that he’d inked a deal with Jay Z’s Roc Nation management, the Detroit rapper dropped four new tracks, and he wasn’t holding anything back.

Sean unleashed “4th Quarter,” (produced by Key Wayne), “I Don’t F–k With You” (produced by Kanye West, DJ Mustard, DJ Dahi), “Jit/Juke” (produced by Da Internz, Nate Fox, L&F) and “Paradise” (produced by MikeWillMadeIt).

On “I Don’t F–k With You” he really lets loose on….an ex. “And everyday I wake up celebrating, sh–, why?/ ‘Cause I just dodged a bullet from a crazy bitch,” and that’s just the beginning.

Things get a little lighter on “4th Quarter.”

“When I heard about these singers and all their naked pictures, I’m like did my e-mails just leak?/ Hold up…lemme check…oh nah nah nah they fake we good, we good.”

I’ll go out on a limb here and say that he’s talking about Ariana Grande’s reported nude photo leak, which she denied with a funny tweet. (We’re calling them a couple after they were spotted holding hands backstage at the VMAs).

Beyonce And Nicki Minaj Finally Performed Live Together And It Was ‘Flawless’: Watch

by 27 mins ago

If there’s anything else Beyoncé could’ve possibly done to make her already-perfect performance at the 2014 VMAs any better — it would’ve been a Nicki Minaj appearance during “Flawless.” We get it though, it wasn’t the right time. The right time came in Paris instead.

During the European leg of her On the Run Tour with Jay Z, Bey brought out Nicki to spit her verse on the “Flawless (remix).” Naturally, this instantly became a trending topic worldwide, because two Queens on a stage would make anyone’s head spin.

Lucky fans who witnessed it live shared videos on Instagram. It’s not the best view, but we’ll keep updating with better videos. And maybe this will show up in the “On the Run Tour” special, which debuts on HBO September 20.

Lil’ Kim’s Hard Core Mixtape Has Arrived

by 27 mins ago

Lil’ Kim is back. Just a few months after the birth of her baby girl, the Brooklyn rapper delivers her 12-track Hard Core mixtape. Fans were so exited to hear the project that they crashed her site on Thursday night, but we’re back up and running now.

Features include Jadakiss, French Montana, Yo Gotti and Cassidy and the tape starts with men discussing the effects of that iconic poster of Kim squatting in the promo for her 1996 debut album Hard Core (over Eminem’s “Lose Yourself” beat nonetheless).

Stream Hard Core below.

Chris Brown Says He And Drake ‘Can’t Walk Around Holding Grudges’

by 20 mins ago

(Chris Brown on his relationship with Drake)

With reporting by Sway Calloway

For a while, it seemed like Chris Brown and Drake would be on the outs forever — but if Nas and Jay made peace, they could do it too, right? The two hitmakers finally buried the hatchet this summer, then did the best thing possible: they hit the studio.

So far, we haven’t heard the product of those sessions, but CB tells MTV News that it’s coming soon, and they plan on working together “continuously.”

Breezy explained that he and Drake didn’t have a very formal conversation to patch things up — and, no, Rihanna didn’t come up. They simply acknowledged that it was time to leave their differences in the past. “We’re young, so it’s not like [we had] a pow wow over tea or nothing,” he told MTV News’ Sway Calloway on Thursday (September 11). “It didn’t need to be explained. It wasn’t no problem.”

After that initial photo of them in the studio surfaced, Brown took it a step further by appearing in Drake’s ESPYs skit, where they poked fun of themselves. “[Drake's] camp actually called me to do the skit. Especially after getting out of jail, I didn’t have any animosity towards anybody,” he said.

“I wanted to be able to bring light to the situation and just grow up. I’m 25 and I’m not getting ...

SBTRKT And A$AP Ferg’s ‘Voices In My Head’ Is The Most Unexpected Collaboration: Listen

by 12 mins ago

You never know where a member of the A$AP Mob will pop up these days. Earlier in the week, we heard Rocky on Sam Smith’s “I’m Not the Only One (remix),” and now we’re treated to A$AP Ferg’s collaboration with SBTRKT.

“Voices in My Head,” with its dark, moody beat, gives Ferg the spotlight and a chance to show off his flexibility. Bet you didn’t expect the guy who brought us “Shabba” and “Work” to end up on a song like this. The eerie background vocals and drums on this one are courtesy of Warpaint.

The song will be the last thing you hear on SBTRKT’s upcoming album, Wonder Where We Land.

“I started this in London with an idea I recorded on an upright piano,” SBTRKT explained when he premiered the track. “Took this to Los Angeles (set up at Fleas the Boat studio in Silver Lake) collaborating further with Stella (drums) & Emily (vocals) from Warpaint – took this back to london to work more arrangement ideas to it and finally a couple months later took that to New York (Downtown – The Roots were in the studio next door!) and collaborated with Ferg ([shout] to our friend Callender for connecting us).”

Still Confused About Miley Cyrus’ Art? Watch Her Break It Down For 2 Chainz

by 24 mins ago

Miley Cyrus
debuted her “Dirty Hippie” collection during Jeremy Scott’s show at NYFW on Wednesday (we were there to capture all of it), and Miley was the ultimate host for the big show.

She sat front row, with her mom, 2 Chainz, Bella Thorne and Whoopi Goldberg and later she took some time to explain her art to the rapper. The explanation is pretty much as good as it gets. “My fans made all this sh–, so I just added it all together, ” she said. “Add all this stuff together, all this sh– lights up.” The best.

Now, if only 2 Chainz could give us a little more insight about his outfit in this clip.

Christina Milian And Kelsey Grammer Are Teaming Up For A New Reality Show

by 2 mins ago

What the…? I read some pretty wild and unexpected stories on the Internet every day, but this is definitely one of the most surprising/confusing/strange things I’ve seen in a while.

Christina Milian hasn’t been showing up in terms of musical output recently, but she has appeared on “Dacning With the Stars” and “The Voice,” and now she’s set to star in a brand new E! reality series.

The show will reportedly document her as she balances motherhood with her career and dating, which all sounds normal enough…but Kelsey Grammer will be producing it. That’s “Frasier,” if his government name isn’t familiar to you.

Grammer has produced some cult favorites like “Girlfriends,” but this still seems to be a little out of left field. For now, the show is being called “Christina Milian Turned Up,” and it will premiere in 2015.

Jay Z And Beyonce Made Marriage ‘Cool’– And Lecrae Wants To Keep That Trend Alive In Hip-Hop

by 13 mins ago

Are you an Anomaly? On his 7th solo album Lecrae shares his own story, but along the way he’s probably hoping that you’ll learn a bit about yourself as well. The Atlanta-based rapper broke down two of the essential tracks on Anomaly for us and explained what inspired him while recording the project.

With “All I Need is You,” for example, he hopes to promote healthier relationships in hip-hop. But as can probably tell from the title of the album, a lot of this is about walking your own path and doing it bravely.

“The title of the album has been a running thought in my head for a long time because I’ve always been a trans cultural person,” he told MTV News. “My friends are from all from different walks of life, I can exist in conservative circles and liberal circles, I walk in the hip-hop, pop and Christian worlds — I can still be me and be embraced in all of those worlds and that makes me an Anomaly.”

Related: Don’t Expect Lecrae To Dumb It Down On His Anomaly Album

Still, not everyone understands that concept, and that was all the more reason to pour it into an album. “It’s baffling and confusing to some people, and frustrating to other people, but it’s me and I’ve always wrestled with that,” he added. “But I finally came to grips with making an album about it.”

You’ll notice that Anomaly is light on features, and that wasn’t ...

Fabolous Lands A Starring Role As Brand Ambassador For Rocawear BLAK

by 22 mins ago

If you’re a hip-hop head, you can probably remember seeing Jay Z dressed from head-to-toe in his Rocawear clothing line during the Roc-A-Fella Records heyday, but it’s a new day for the brand.

With the launch of the new Rocawear BLAK line, their brand ambassador Fabolous is helping to further their reach.

“BLAK is mixture of LA and BK,” Fabolous explained to MTV News (in the video above). “Those two places are the melting pot for culture and diverse ethnicities, and [BLAK] is trying to take Rocawear from being looked at as just urban street wear, to show evolution and growth, into being an all around line.”

fabedited

The Brooklyn rapper was a pretty great fit for the campaign, since fans have been able to watch his own evolution throughout the years.

“One of the things I’m trying to execute in my music is [to show] my evolution, more growth, different styles, different flows, and that’s the same thing Rocawear is doing.”

The Rocawear BLAK collection will hit stores in time for the holiday season.

Outside of his fashion endeavors, Fab is currently working on two albums: Loso’s Way 2, plus Young OG.
