Lil Durk And Game Exchange Words In L.A. Nightclub: Check The Video

by 41 mins ago

It looks like Game struck a chord with Chicago rapper Lil Durk when he sent lyrical shots his way while rapping alongside Tyga on “Chiraq to L.A.”

On Saturday night Durk and members of his crew bumped into the Compton rapper inside of a Los Angeles night club and had a few words.

Part of the exchange was caught on tape and while the two rappers both clearly appear in the video, there was no physical altercation. “Meet us outside,” one member of Game’s camp could be heard saying over the loud music.

Back in May, Tyga dropped his Lil Durk dis song “Chiraq to LA,” but it was the song’s co-star, Game, who stole the show. Over the course of an almost-four-minute verse, Game takes aim at the Chicago newcomer and humorously confused him with NBA all-star Dirk Nowitzki. “Tyga hit me like, ‘Durk dissin’/ Dirk Nowitzki? Durk who, n—a?,” Game rapped on the track.

Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter Turns 10: Why We Still Can’t Stop Listening

by 1 hour ago

Before we’re gifted with Lil Wayne‘s Tha Carter V, it’s time to look back on the beginning of the hip-hop staple: Tha Carter, which was released 10 years ago today.

Not only was Weezy’s fourth solo album a platinum-selling hit, it signified a major turning point for the once-kid rapper and the label that’s he’s called home since 12 years old, Cash Money Records. Over the course of 21 tracks (minus a couple of skits), Wayne displayed an elevated level of lyricism and began to shine brighter than any Cash Money star before him.

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of Weezy’s stand-out, we’ve narrowed it down to the 10 things we love the most about Tha Carter.

1. The Title
Not only did Dwayne Michael Carter, Jr. get personal using his last name as partial inspiration for the album title, he also threw a nod to Wesley Snipes’ 1991 street classic “New Jack City.” In the film, Snipes’ fictional Nino Brown sold drugs out of a building called the Carter.

2. The Album Cover
Before Tha Carter Weezy used an over-the-top art style popularized by Pen and Pixel Graphics for his album covers. In 2004 he switched to a simple more natural photo which fans immediately connected to.

3. Mannie Fresh
Lil Wayne has worked with a ton of notable and accomplished producers, but there is something about his collaborations with Mannie Fresh that we just love. Fresh didn’t do every track on Tha Carter, but 14 out of 21 isn’t bad. ...

Future’s ‘Move That Dope’ Almost Didn’t Happen

by 21 mins ago

Future’s creativity knows no bounds. Since he entered the game in 2010, the Atlanta hitmaker has used his knack for rap and songwriting to make a handful of hits.

As prolific as Future is though, he isn’t taking very much credit for one of his latest smashes, “Move That Dope.” The props all go to his production partner Mike Will Made It.

“When I first did it, I just did the hook, I didn’t do the verse,” Future explained to MTV News right after he got off the stage at Hot 107.9′s Birthday Bash concert in Atlanta on June 17. “Mike found the verse and he put it on the song, off another record and I just had it. I didn’t even want to do the song.”

Future finished up his Honest LP with no intention of adding the song, which has peaked in the top 10 on Billboard’ Hot Rap Songs chart. Luckily for him, Mike Will saw the potential and added Pharrell, Pusha T and Casino to the track.

“It was a song that I really didn’t have nothing to do with. I left it in the studio and I told him I didn’t want it on the album,” Future admitted. “Once I heard it I was like it sound like one of those ones. I always tell him, I call him, I text him everyday and be like, ‘Man I appreciate you on that one because I didn’t know.’”

Maybe Future will be less resistant on his next ...

Eminem vs. Busta Rhymes: Who Will Win The ‘Calm Down’ Battle?

by 19 mins ago

Eminem isn’t just an accomplished hitmaker, but the 8 Mile-bred rhyme animal is a heavily tested battle veteran as well. Though Slim has been mild-mannered lately, it seems that he is ready to step back into rap’s arena and do battle with Busta Rhymes on the Dungeon Dragon’s new single “Calm Down.”

Last night, members of Busta’s team posted a photo with him and Em on the Internet and on Friday (June 27), MTV got our hands on the single’s artwork. The song is scheduled to be released on July 1, but Bus has been teasing the track since last September.

“I’ve got a six-minute record with Eminem that sounds like we are respectfully trying to battle each other in a way that you probably never heard us battle in our entire careers on a record,” he told XXLMag.com.

Scoop DeVille, the song’s producer, spoke to MTV News about the track last year when he walked the red carpet for the 2013 American Music Awards.

“[I'm] working with Busta Rhymes, I have a single coming out with him called ‘Calm Down’ with Eminem and that’s a six-minute record where they’re battling each other for like 30 to 50 bars apiece. It’s pretty crazy,” he said.

July 1 can’t get here fast enough.

Watch Isaiah Austin In The Most Emotional Moment In NBA Draft History

by 4 mins ago

The NBA cares. If you’re a basketball fan, chances are you’ve heard the slogan and have seen commercials for the league’s community outreach initiative. But on Thursday night at the 2014 NBA Draft in Brooklyn, the league showed that “NBA Cares” is more than a slogan by ceremoniously drafting 20-year-old college star Isaiah Austin.

Austin, a 7-foot-1 center from Baylor, was all set to enter the NBA Draft before he was diagnosed with Marfan syndrome on Sunday. Marfan is a genetic disorder which affects the heart, and if Austin plays basketball at a competitive level, his heart could rupture.

Despite the career-ending news, newly appointed league commissioner Adam Silver invited Austin to the draft as his special guest and called him to the podium between the 15th and 16th pick, allowing the baller to live out part of his dream.

During this past college season, Austin revealed that he had a prosthetic right eye, after suffering a detached retina. Still, the center was expected to be drafted pretty high, until doctors discovered the genetic disorder after routine testing.

When Austin’s name was called, the crowd at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center rose to their feet and gave him a standing ovation.

“For Commissioner Silver to even invite me here was a tremendous blessing and it just shows how much class that man has,” Austin told ESPN. “It’s really been a tough week for me, and it’s been really rough. I’ve just had a tremendous amount of support from everybody around the world, telling me ...

T.I. Hopes He Can Save Justin Bieber ‘A Little Anguish’

by 3 hours ago

They don’t call T.I. Trouble Man for nothing. Yes, Tip has had his fair share of drama, but the King of the South works to steer others away from the negative. That’s sort of the nature of his relationship with Justin Bieber.

“Just trying to use my experiences to help somebody keep them from going down the same path that I did. Save him a little anguish,” Tip told MTV News about the bond that he and the Biebs share, when he came to New York earlier this month to promote his new single and video “No Mediocre.”

Back in February Beiber and T.I. snapped a a couple of Instagram pics, so of course we had to ask what brought them together. “Justin has really been calling me just to help him navigate himself through, from where he is to where he has to be,” Tip told us over the phone back then.

T.I. says he hasn’t spoken to Justin after two videos of him making racist jokes hit the Internet, but he believes JB has to be held accountable. “Every man is held accountable for his actions and his words spoken,” Tip told us. “However, I also think we should take into account the time in which this happened and the age of the person when it happened.”

In one video Justin is heard telling a racially insensitive joke, while using ...

Trick Trick Responds To Rick Ross Drama: ‘Mind Your Own Motherf–kin’ Business’

by 38 mins ago

Trick Trick is ticked off. On Saturday, the Detroit rap veteran saw his name surface in reports, following a cancelled Rick Ross performance at Hot 107.5′s Summer Jamz 17 concert.

The rumor goes that Trick Trick organized a mob of people to meet Ross at the Chene Park Amphitheater and bar him for entering the venue. Rozay has already shot down those reports and on Thursday (June 26), Trick posted a video on WorldStarHipHop.com where he addresses things, as well.

“Concerning myself and that individual, it’s none of your motherf–kin’ business,” he barked at the camera, never referencing Ross by name. “That’s a grown man, I’m a grown man. Grown men don’t put grown men business out to the motherf–kin’ public.”

According to Ross, who spoke with 99 Jamz in Miami earlier this week, when members of his team arrived at the venue ahead of him, they were met by a locked gate and a gathering of people who were protesting the rapper. Trick was said to be behind the protest.

Earlier this year, Trick dropped a track titled “No Fly Zone,” where he warns out-of-town rappers that they need permission from him to enter his native city. Some reports painted the incident as a sort of extortion plot where Trick was looking to get some type of money out of Ross. Trick Trick says that is all false.

“My ‘No Fly Zone’ ain’t about takin’ nobody’s money. I don’t want your motherf–kin’ money, nobody,” he said. “What the ...

Lil Wayne Continues Carter V Tease With ‘Krazy’ Snippet: Check It Out

by 1 min ago

Lil Wayne is such a tease. Over the course of 18 viral “Weezy Wednesdays” episodes, the Young Money boss has been setting the stage for his upcoming album Tha Carter V, releasing snippets of songs and announcing ancillary albums.

And while there is still no release date for the album in sight, last night Wayne dropped another breadcrumb, with just a small preview of his new song “Krazy.”

The 33-second video opens with the usual “Weezy Wednesdays” bumper before the song’s sparse and haunting synth beat drops. Wayne doesn’t give us more than just a few seconds of the Infamous-produced instrumental, but he does drop some cool single art.

First we see a prescription sheet signed by “Dr. Carter,” one of Wayne’s many aliases, then we see a prescription bottle of pills with the song title written on the label. The logo for Tha Carter V appears throughout, so it’s safe to assume that whenever we get the album, this one will be on it.

Lana Del Rey Or Sam Smith: Who Won The Album Sales Battle?

by 11 mins ago

Lana Del Rey set out to make a killing with the release of her new album Ultraviolence and did so by narrowly nabbing the top spot on the charts last week, according to data from Nielsen SoundScan.

The dynamic pop singer moved just over 182,000 copies of her LP, edging out UK sensation Sam Smith, who is having a real crossover moment in the States. Smith’s In the Lonely Hour sold almost 166,000 copies in its debut week on the U.S. chart, while rockers Linkin Park grabbed the third spot with their new album Hunting Party.

The unstoppable “Frozen” soundtrack is still in the top five after 30 weeks on the chart, while Jennifer Lopez’s A.K.A and Deadmau5′s While (1<2) slid into the top ten at #8 and #9 respectively.

The iTunes albums list tells a similar story, with Del Ray and Smith holding the top two slots. Ed Sheeran, who released his X album on Monday, has built enough steam to nab the third spot on iTunes, setting him up for a possible No.1 on next week’s SoundScan after a full week of data is tallied.
