Big Sean Reveals The Story Behind ‘Milf’

As a kid, Big Sean didn’t take too kindly to his single mom’s boyfriends, and now that he’s dated a few single moms himself, the comedy of it all isn’t lost on the Detroit MC. Sean will address it all on “Milf,” a Nicki Minaj and Juicy J-assisted cut from his August 27 album Hall of Fame.

“When I was a young kid and I saw my mom with boyfriends, I used to hate her being with boyfriends,” Sean explained to MTV News on Thursday while riding around in Staten Island, New York, on his way to play his new album for a very special fan. “It’s crazy how the tables turn.”

On Monday the track list for Hall of Fame hit Amazon and subsequently a number of blog sites, but has since been taken down from the retail site. If the Amazon leak is accurate the LP will feature Miguel on a song titled “Ashley,” Jeezy on “It’s Time” and Nas and Kid Cudi on a tracked called “First Chain.” Then, of course, there is “Milf,” which Sean played for select fans and media in New York last week.

“I just wanted to convey that message in a song. I just wanted to get that moment, because that’s a moment in society. That’s something that really goes on, and that’s what the song is about,” he explained. “It’s just about a crazy-ass mom, going wild and I do think it’s funny, but I think it’s real as hell too. And that’s what I try to do with every song on the album, just keep it real as possible.”

In 2011 Sean first linked with Nicki on his “Dance (A$$)” remix and while their first collab was pretty sexual, he says that this time out, being raunchy wasn’t really the goal.

“My album isn’t really that raunchy,” he said. “I have a lot of good stuff, a lot of very good things that mean a lot but, that song I feel like means a lot in American society.”
