Britney Spears’ Director Never ‘Forced’ Her To Over-Sex ‘Work Bitch’

Britney Spears whipped everyone into shape in her “Work Bitch” video. To get the behind-the-scenes scoop on the video, MTV News spoke to director Ben Mor, who not only revealed how Brit learned to use a whip, but also weighed in on some rumors floating around since its release earlier this week.

First off, he shot down speculation that the video cost upward of $6.5 million. “There’s such bullsh– out there. I wish! The thing… I shouldn’t say it but it’s not even a fraction of that. It’s 200 percent absolutely false and it’s almost embarrassing to say. The video absolutely did not cost that much,” he said. “It’s just a lot of misinformation.”

Then he addressed a recent interview where Britney opened up about cutting out some of the video’s sexier scenes:

“Again, we never want to force anything or make her do anything she doesn’t want to do,” he said. “You can easily make a racier cut of this but it really involved the extras. This is really what’s going out there and I really want to squash it.”

“There are a lot of misunderstandings about making her doing racy stuff which is 100 percent not true. She does not do anything she doesn’t want to do. She’s in complete control the whole time. It was easy to make a racier cut only because of the extras and the cutaways, and that’s it,” he explained, noting that anything that was deemed too sexy by Spears didn’t have much to do with her or her wardrobe.”

He added, “And we found a great balance.”

With the rumors cleared up, Mor broke down Britney’s favorite scenes to film.

“I think her favorite setup was up against the wall lit by the Lamborghini lights. As simple as it was, she really came to life in that set up and it shows in the video. She really liked the mood of it and the attitude of it,” he said. “And she really liked the dancing inside the penthouse with the yellow top, the main dancing; she really enjoyed that as well.”

Since the video premiered Tuesday night, fans have been latching onto certain scenes, especially her dance breakdown, where she wears, of all things, pants. “Right when I knew she was going to dance I’m like ‘OK, I know that we got something,’ ” he said, adding that “everything else was cherries on top.”

He continued, “Again, there’s a whole subculture to it where the fans are so into it and very well versed in what she wore in what video and why, even more so than I even knew about it. I didn’t realize how big of a deal [it is] when she wears pants. I guess it means she’s about to throw down.”
