‘Black-ish’ Goes Into ‘Guy Code’ Territory With Urinal Buffer Zone

by 31 mins ago

Some ideas belong to an individual. Some ideas, though, belong to mankind. Ideas such as the fact it’s super uncomfortable to urinate right next to fellow urinating dudes, especially when there aren’t any metal divider thingies blocking the view. And before you say, “That’s homophobic,” or “Wow, you must have a super tiny penis,” it’d be equally awkward to urinate next to women, if women could use urinals, which they can. The point is, human beings appreciate a little privacy in the bathroom, OK? And not everyone can be 9+ inches, OK?

Anyway, the ABC series “Black-ish” covered this topic on last week’s episode, laying down the law on respecting the Buffer Zone:

This lesson will be intimately familiar to viewers of MTV2′s “Guy Code.” Let’s take a stroll down Memory Lane, where the pavement is covered with sticky, ammonia-scented puddles…

Now, before you go assuming that “Black-ish” took the idea from “Guy Code,” remember that the concept of the Buffer Zone is as ancient as urinals themselves. Or at least, as ancient as humorist Dave Barry’s 1996 book “Complete Guide To Guys” and subsequent 2005 DVD of the same name, featuring former NFL quarterback Dan Marino for a play-by-play:

So, we could argue all day about who first noticed this dilemma ...

Wiz And Future’s New Song Is So Explicit They Needed An Emoji For The Cover Art

by 12 mins ago

Wiz Khalifa and Future have each been involved in splits from their significant others in recent months. And their new collaboration with Mike Will Made It sure sounds like they’re not thrilled with a female in their lives.

But “P—y Overrated” comes off less about their women — Amber Rose and Ciara, respectively — than the kind of antics that may have gotten them each in trouble. Oh, and that cover art is just priceless.

overrated

“Why you keep asking when you can hit the weed when you know you should have on already rolled?/ And why every time I get done doing my thing I gotta see you backstage at my show?” Wiz wonders, sounding like he’s adressing an attached groupie, and not his soon to be ex-wife.

“After you strip naked, you’re supposed to f–k me like a star, girl you know you’re faking,” Future sings on the hook.

The track will be featured on Mike Will’s upcoming Ransom mixtape.

Snoop Dogg And Iggy Azalea’s Online Battle Continues

by 1 min ago

Snoop Dogg is a jokester. Anyone who has watched him throughout his career, seen his interviews, caught his “GGN” web series, or paid attention to his Instagram knows this. But that doesn’t mean that the butt of his jokes always thinks his antics are particularly funny.

And that’s exactly what’s going on this week, as Iggy Azalea is none too please with Tha Doggfather’s calling her out on social media.

Snoop often takes memes and posts them on his Instagram account. Here’s one he uploaded on Sunday.

The Australian rapper responded in some since-deleted tweets:

“@SnoopDogg why would you post such a mean pic on insta when you send your body guards to ask me for pictures every time we are at shows together?,” she wrote. “My bodyguard stopped the fire truck that saved your friends life in canada when he almost burnt down the hotel. and every time I’ve ever spoken to you you’ve always been nice as hell, I’m disappointed you’d be such an ass for no reason.”

Snoop caught wind of her reaction, but didn’t seem too concerned. Monday night, he posted the following photo, along with the caption, “This is news to me. I wish a bitch would !! Hahahahahahahah.”

Early Tuesday (October 14), Iggy responded to the media’s response of her response to Snoop’s initial post.

It looked like this intense online war had settled, but Tuesday afternoon, the Los Angeles rapper was back at it, with three more pictures.

“So says Todd cool out lil sis he ...

How Did Taylor Swift’s ‘Out Of The Woods’ Come Together? Jack Antonoff Reveals All

by 46 mins ago

I am totally not in the clear yet because I am still freaking out over how much I am obsessed with Taylor Swift’s new song, “Out of the Woods.”

While I’ve spent most of Tuesday (October 14) trying to figure out whether or not it’s about One Direction’s Harry Styles, I have also completely fallen in love with this ’80s synth-pop vibe Taylor is going with, which was brought to life by the help of fun. guitarist Jack Antonoff, a.k.a. her musical soulmate.

But the pair didn’t just walk into the studio one day and start recording songs — they actually formed a friendship bonding over ’80s flicks.

“We were hanging out at her house in Rhode Island,” Jack recently told Billboard. “And we were talking about John Hughes movies, and a lot of the music that inspired [them], and just this general culture of sound in that time period that was really larger-than-life in an anthemic, positive way. These songs could be at the end of films that were really, really beautiful and said a lot.”

Jack, who said this experience meant “the world” to him, wanted to help bring Taylor’s emotions and feelings to life, to completely capture the “fragility” of the relationship she was singing about, and to get that he turned to My Morning Jacket for inspiration.

“When I was working on the track, I was thinking a lot about My Morning Jacket,” he revealed, “and how everything they do, ...

These 4 Tracks From Blood Moon: Year Of The Wolf Prove That Game Is Still West Coast Royalty

by 57 mins ago

Blood Moon: Year of the Wolf has been described as a compilation album from Game and his Blood Money Entertainment imprint. But fans who have simply been itching for a new Game album since his 2012 Jesus Piece will be pleased.

The disc, which dropped on Tuesday (October 14), is 15 tracks of the Los Angeles rapper delivering the kind of hard-hitting yet catchy rhymes he’s made a career of. To be clear, he brings along plenty of guests — Lil Wayne, Chris Brown, Jeezy, Tyga, Ty Dolla $ign, T.I. and plenty more appear on the album — but there’s also a healthy dose of Jayceon here.

As he prepares to release his upcoming album The Documentary 2, which is set to drop in January, on the 10-year anniversary of his debut opus, Game reminds why he’s West Coast Royalty on his latest. Here are four tracks to check out.

1. “Bigger Than Me”

Released as the lead single to Blood Moon: Year of the Wold, this is Game doing what he’s done time and again throughout his career: Taking no B.S.

The album’s opening track, it’s a fitting introduction. More than anything, it’s a reminder — of the Compton native’s past successes, approach to making music, and fearless attitude. “These n—as ain’t bigger than me,” he repeats often (which, given the albums and singles on his resume, is probably true about most rappers), adding, “N—as talking that shit ’bout the new generation, man/ Fuck these niggas, I’ll slash your fucking faces.”

Jennifer Lawrence’s ‘Serena’: What Do The Critics Think?

by 16 mins ago

It’s been sitting on the shelf for more than a year, but Jennifer Lawrence’s big-screen reunion with Bradley Cooper, “Serena,” finally had its premiere in the U.K. at the London Film Festival.

Lawrence plays the titular Serena, a young woman with a mysterious past in Depression-era North Carolina. She meets George Pemberton (Cooper), and it’s love — or at least marriage — at nearly-first sight.

Though the fact that the film is just now seeing the light of day, about two years after shooting wrapped, as well as the murmurs that U.S. release will be in February via the good old internet — red flags both — critics in the first reviews trickling out seem to feel OK about “Serena.” One might even say Lawrence kills — her character does, at least, literally.

Here’s what the critics are saying about the first look at “Serena.”

It’s Gorgeous
“Filmed in the picturesque forests of the Czech Republic, Serena is a handsomely mounted yarn with high production values. The lovely period costumes, muted autumnal colors and mostly hand-held camerawork by Morton Soborg are all pleasing touches. Likewise the starry cast, which includes Romanians, Czechs and well-known Brits like Toby Jones shamelessly hamming up their stagey Deep South accents.” – Stephen Dalton, Hollywood Reporter

No Performance Anxiety
“Given the ever-present backdrop of the lumber industry, headline writers the world over will be disappointed to hear that none of the film’s central performances could reasonably be described as wooden. Lawrence is as reliably engaged as ever, ...

‘Harper’s Bazaar’ Took ‘Crazy Eyes’ Pretty Literally For This Uzo Aduba Shoot

by 17 mins ago

Uzo Aduba—better known as Suzanne “Crazy Eyes” Warren to Orange Is The New Black viewers—appears in Harper’s Bazaar for its “2014 Women Who Dare” feature, and she’s in good company. Aduba joins the ranks of Blondie frontwoman Debbie Harry, Chloe Sevigny, and New York Senator Kristen Gillibrand.

Uzo AdubaHarper's Bazaar

The Emmy-winning actress opens up about what it means for her personally to be daring, which amounts to “taking all risks and chances.” Uzo elaborates further that “It took me a long time to arrive at that—you know, from my gap teeth to my name. I’m realizing, you don’t need to change anything about yourself. This is who you are, and it’s okay. That’s daring.”

As for her iconic character, “Crazy Eyes,” we were surprised to read that while crafting the character, the eyes came last. However, that was not the case in the Harper’s Bazaar shoot by Albert Watson. Uzo appears with a Stephen Webster eye pendant and the above Carolina Herrera dress styled with those eye-catching (heh) arm embellishments. Harper’s loves a theme, and we do, too. Did you catch that the fringe doubles as eyelashes? SO GOOD.
