These Are The Survivors Of The ‘Walking Dead’ Spinoff

by 49 mins ago

Only two weeks stand between now and the return of “The Walking Dead,” but it’s already worth keeping an eye on what lies beyond season five.

The upcoming “Walking Dead” spinoff is still a ways away, but AMC is starting the casting process for the officially ordered pilot episode. The spinoff, set to focus on all-new characters in an entirely different corner of the “Walking Dead” universe, will include roles for the following characters, according to TV Line:

Sean Cabrera, a 40-something Latino man, and his teenage son Cody. Sean is doing his best to treat everyone in life right, while Cody’s something of the opposite; he’s described as “whip-smart and rebellions,” and holds the distinction of being “the angriest kid in town.”

Meanwhile, there’s the Tompkins family including 30-something single mother Nancy, who “looks like the girl next door, but there’s an edge to her.” She’s the mother of “screwed up” teenager Nick, and “mostly level-headed” Ashley, who is as ambitious as her brother is a failure.

Finally, there’s a character described as a “wilted flower child,” reeling from a horrible marriage. Her name? Andrea Chapman. That’s right: another Andrea. Any relation to the late Andrea of the flagship “Walking Dead” series, or just a coincidence? Maybe the name’s just a place-holder for now.

There you have it: six of the new men and women making their way through the zombie apocalypse. With casting breakdowns already in circulation, it won’t be long before we hear some official casting news. ...

Meek Mill Is Still Smiling Even Though He’s In Jail — See Rick Ross’ Photos

by 18 mins ago

Meek Mill has been in jail since July, but it looks like he might be on his way out soon.

Over the weekend Rick Ross shared a couple of photos of his MMG signee, still behind bars, but with a message that he should be back home shortly. One shot, posted to Instagram, showed Meek in his all gray sweats (no orange jumpers over here) posted up against a wall, in seemingly good spirits.

The second shot shows him hanging in the jail yard with a few cohorts, accompanied by Ross’ caption, “Meek in da building all OG’s roun’m.” So while we doubt that the Philly rapper is having the time of his life behind bars, he at least looks comfortable.

Earlier this month, Rozay confirmed that Meek’s sophomore album Dreams Worth More Than Money, which was scheduled to drop on September 2, would be delayed because of his legal troubles. He also shared an address for fans who wanted to keep in touch with Meek in the meantime.

Meek was sentenced to three-to-six months in jail for violating probation, and his request for early parole was denied during a court appearance on August 18.

A native of Grenada, a product of Brooklyn, a student of hip-hop.

8 Trends From ‘Laguna Beach’ We’d Totally Still Wear Today

by 20 mins ago

Are y’all ready to feel old? Yesterday–exactly 10 years agoLaguna Beach premiered its first-ever episode on MTV. That’s right: in 2004, Lauren Conrad, Kristin Cavallari, Stephen Colletti, Lo Bosworth, and the rest of their Cali crew bravely broadcast their teenage lives for the entire world to see, but TBH, us style nerds could only focus on one thing: THOSE. OUTFITS. You might remember tons of mid-2000s mini skirts, halters, and capris, but looking back, we realized we’d actually still wear some of these trends today. Seriously! Check out 8 Laguna Beach looks we’d totally sport in 2014.

CHOKERS

Laguna BeachMTV

Wowowow. This whole K-Cav outfit is speaking to us so hard. In case you haven’t been around humans/on Tumblr in the last few years, the ’90s are back in full force, and chokers are making a serious comeback. This summer goth look is absolute perfection, and, dang, are we even loving her frosted lip?! #confused #halp

BACKWARDS SNAPBACKS

Laguna BeachMTV

Man, we thought we were cool for rockin’ the snapback since 2012, but it looks like Stephen totally had us beat back in ’05.

SHIRTS TIED AROUND THE WAIST

Laguna BeachMichael Muller/MTV

OK, so our 2014 version of shirts-around-the-waist trend is definitely more grunge and less preppy (as seen on Jared Leto!), but we gotta give it up to Lo for being 10 years ahead of her time.

You Can Now Watch ‘Girl Code’ And ‘Guy Code’ For College Credit

by 28 mins ago

Think of your future, kids. Enroll in Code College.

It was only a matter of time until “Guy Code” and “Girl Code” (which returns to MTV Wednesday, October 1 at 11/10c) officially entered the canon of Western civilization, and that moment is now. Arizona State University’s online school requires nearly 1,000 students per semester to critique the shows — which present comedic takes on modern gender and social dynamics — as part of its “Women & Sexuality” curriculum. Although a professor tells us that students’ reactions aren’t always positive, hey, at least they don’t have to buy another textbook, right?

We became aware of the homework assignment thanks to 22-year-old ASU Online student (and bikini model) Brandi Bondoc, who tweeted earlier this month…

Brandi explained in an email, “We had to watch an episode of the show and write a discussion board post afterwards.” Here’s the full assignment:

“Analyze the television show utilizing some of the following guiding questions: Does ‘Girl Code’ or ‘Guy Code’ perpetuate or resist heteronormative ideals? Does it perpetuate or challenge double standards? What does ‘Girl Code’ or ‘Guy Code’ say about normative female sexuality? What doesn’t it say? Please use this units readings to inform your analysis.”

From that wording, we kind of assumed the professor loathes the shows and considers them as progressive as a 1950s guidebook for housewives hellbent on cooking the perfect roast for their husbands, and then giving the perfect foot rub. But we called up Dr. Elena Frank, ...

Joe Jonas Surprises Demi Lovato Onstage! See The Pics

by 1 min ago

Demi Lovato was in good company on Saturday night when her “Camp Rock” costar Joe Jonas surprised her onstage during the Los Angeles stop of her Demi Word Tour.

It has been four years since Lovato and Jonas sang together, and the “Really Don’t Care” singer documented the occasion well, giving us all FOMO for not being at the Staples Center. Together, the former couple sang “This Is Me.”

Not only was Joe there, but Travis Barker from Blink 182 joined her too, dueling Demi on drums. “Played drums with the iconic @travisbarker at Staples Center. A night I’ll never forget. #demiworldtour.”

Joe isn’t the only Jonas who has his hand in Demi’s tour — little brother Nick Jonas serves as the creative and musical director for the trek.

“He had visions for this tour,” Demi told MTV News earlier this year. “And he threw out some ideas and they were really good, and we just thought, ‘Why don’t you just do the whole tour, please?’ so it’s turned out amazing and like 90 percent is his work.”

Wait A Parsec, Boba Fett Killed WHO In ‘Star Wars’?

by 20 mins ago

Boba Fett is among the deadliest bounty hunters in the entire “Star Wars” universe, with numerous wins to his name — not the least of which is handing Han Solo over to Jabba the Hutt, and scoring a pretty profit in the process.

But it turns out that there are some other iconic “Star Wars” characters whose lives Fett ruined. And by ruined, I mean ended. And by ended, I mean disintegrated.

MoviePilot puts forth the compelling theory that Boba Fett is the man behind the trigger on these two beloved “Star Wars” characters:

owen_beru

That’s right — Boba Fett killed Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru … or so the theory goes.

The evidence that Luke Skywalker’s guardians were murdered by Fett is compelling, if not conclusive. Highlights include Boba Fett being on Tattooine around the same time Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru died, as well as a pointed encounter between Fett and Darth Vader in “The Empire Strikes Back.”

Check out MoviePilot for the full theory. It’s certainly a fun one to ponder, even if it never pans out. Then again, with rumors of a “Boba Fett” solo movie in the works, perhaps we’ll find out about the Mandalorian killer’s role in Owen and Beru’s murder, or lack thereof, sooner than later.

Fergie Is Going Every Damn Where On Her ‘L.A. Love (La La)’ Single

by 28 mins ago

It’s been eight years since Fergie released her last solo album, The Dutchess, but clearly she’s been logging some serious miles in the meantime. On her first solo single in six years, “L.A. Love (La La),” which dropped at midnight on Monday (September 29), The Black Eyed Peas singer takes her fans on a trip around the world, thanks to a slinky, booming beat provided by DJ Mustard.

“Every city, every state, every country you know/ All around the globe/ Every city, every state, every country you know/ This is how it goes,” she raps on the tune with a slightly harder tone than we’re used to from the “Fergalicious” singer. “L.A. got the people saying (la la la la la)/ Moscow saying (la la la la la)/ España (la la la la la)/ Kingston saying (la la la la la)/ San Diego saying (la la la la la)/ Chi town saying (la la la la la)/ Germany under saying (la la la la la)/ La Puente saying (la la la la la)/ Ibiza.”

Exhausting! The song is the first taste of Ferg’s upcoming second solo album, which is slated for release next year.

Often guilty, never convicted. Serving 15 years to life at MTV News.

Need To Know: What Are Diplo, Skrillex and Usher Doing In The Studio Together?

by 1 min ago

Wish I Was There…
Beat masters Diplo and Skrillex hit the studio with Usher this weekend to make some music and make it rain. They were joined by songwriting/producing duo Rock City, who helped pen Miley Cyrus’ “We Can’t Stop” and Rihanna’s “Pour It Up.” Why all the giant wads of cash, though? Diplo said that he, Rock City and Usher were allegedly going to the strip club. Not sure if that’s true, but we can’t wait to hear the material these four music powerhouses come up with.

The ‘Game Of Thrones’ Opening Just Got A Delicious Makeover

by 1 min ago

“Great. Just what we need. Another remix of the ‘Game of Thrones‘ opening.”

Don’t be so cynical. If that’s what you’re thinking, then you haven’t yet laid eyes on the “Game of Thrones” opening, reimagined by Clickhole as an old man sipping soup.

And here it is, side-by-side with the actual “Thrones” opening:

Why does this exist, you ask? Well, why not? The world demands more epic, medieval soup-slurping. Now, HBO needs to release their own version of the soup opening, set inside of King’s Landing. Perhaps that’s why Tywin Lannister is back on “Thrones” this season?

Here’s Why ‘The Simpsons’ Just Killed Off [SPOILER]

by 13 mins ago

It’s rare that Springfield is synonymous with sorrow, but that was certainly the case during the 26th season premiere of “The Simpsons.”

After more than a year of producers teasing that a big character death was on its way, “The Simpsons” finally dropped that shoe, sending an important character to the great beyond — but not exactly a principal player, as many thought.

The person who did not make it out of the “Simpsons” premiere alive was…

homer

…not Homer. It was…

krusty

…not Krusty the Clown. It was…

rabbi

Krusty’s father. Send in the sad clowns.

The episode, titled “Clown in the Dumps,” centers on the death of Krusty’s father, Rabbi Hyman Krustofski, voiced by Jackie Mason, who won an Emmy award for voicing the character back in 1992. In his final moments, the rabbi tells his estranged son Krusty what he really thinks of him: “Eh.”

“I thought, ‘It would be a good father-son story if the rabbi passed away and the last thing he said to his son was, ‘I think you’re eh,’” executive producer Al Jean tells Entertainment Weekly. “That the last word that Krusty heard from his dad was ‘eh,’ and that he had to try to reconcile himself with that, and try to find an answer for this lifetime relationship.”

Rabbi Krustofski’s passing might come as a bit of an “eh” to people anticipating a major “Simpsons” character death for more than a year now, but Jean insists that he did his best ...
