Ed Sheeran Plays Little Orphan Annie: Watch

by 17 mins ago

In an apparent effort to top NBC’s forthcoming live production of “Peter Pan” starring Allison Williams, Jimmy Kimmel announced that his host network has theatrical plans of its own. The host of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” revealed that ABC will air the musical “Annie” this November, and it will star none other than… Ed Sheeran?

OK, so this announcement was obviously not legit, but I’ve gotta say that the Best Male VMA winner’s portrayal of Little Orphan Annie could use some work. I mean, I’m pretty sure the lyrics to “Tomorrow” don’t go: “The… Jimmy, I can’t f-cking do this, man.” And he could’ve at least tried to keep Sandy on all fours. Quvenzhané Wallis would never.

Bad at filling out bios seeks same.

These Back To School Sales Are Definitely NOT For Kids

by 21 mins ago

Whether you’re headed back to high school or college, you’re going to need supplies to succeed, and many stores are kind enough to discount them for you this time of year. But sometimes they lump products into the “back to school” category that seriously don’t belong there, unless you’re enrolled in a bartending academy. Here are some of the most confusing moments in retail history.

15 Musicians Who Are Their Own Biggest Fans

by 22 mins ago

Nothing beats your favorite band tee, amirite? Whether you copped it at a show or swiped it online before it sold out, you probably went out of your way to support your favorite artist—and with good reason. You’re a huge fan! You’d do anything for them! But lately, we’ve noticed something strange happening: musicians are starting to wear their own merch too, and TBH, it’s kind of freaking us out. Check out 15 musicians who got super meta with their merch as of late.

BEYONCE

BeyonceFacebook

Beyonce kicked off 2014 wearing her own (very awesome) “Surfboard” sweatshirt, which is a shout-out to a lyric from her “Drunk In Love” song and, well, we’ll just let Urban Dictionary explain the rest.

RIHANNA

RIhannaSplash News

Thanks to Rihanna and Eminem’s Monster Tour this month, our girl has been sporting tons of her new Trapstar merch these days. Her most meta move as of late? Wearing the shirt that features a picture of herself, on herself, in the most IDGAF way possible.

DRAKE

About a year ago, Drake did a little self-promotion (and self-stanning) by sporting his “Nothing Was The Same” shirt for his album of the same name.

LADY GAGA

Earlier this spring, Lady Gaga had no qualms about getting super meta in the “Slay” tour merch tee with herself pictured on the front.

This Is How You Look While Taking Selfies, And It Is Horrifying

by 8 mins ago

The great irony of selfies is how un-self-aware we are while taking them, as we’ve just realized to our unending horror after watching this video.

A teenage girl who was having a magnificent selfie session in the backseat of her dad’s car didn’t realize that Dad, who is obviously a monster who delights in other people’s humiliation, was filming her at the same time. The whole thing lasts 59 seconds, which is 58 seconds more than any reasonable person will be able to watch without wanting to crawl into their couch and quietly die of embarrassment.

Listen To Bobby Shmurda’s Official Reggae Remix Of ‘Hot N—a’

by 3 mins ago

Bobby Shmurda deserves an award for keeping this song alive for so long. After joining Drake on stage in New Jersey earlier this week, the Brooklyn rapper came through with the official remix for “Hot N—a” featuring Junior Reid, Mavado, Popcaan and Jah X.

There have been multiple unofficial remixes of the track, but you’ve gotta give it up to Shmurda for going full-on reggae with this one. Honestly, the way Lil Wayne bugged out to this one in the club, we’re surprised he didn’t secure a verse for himself on this version.

Happy Birthday, Liam Payne! Here Are 21 Ways You’re Still Young At Heart

by 1 min ago

If it weren’t for your Britishness, I’d say that Friday (August 29) is a big milestone for you, Liam Payne. Today, you’re turning 21 — an adult by American standards because now you can legally drink alcohol in the States.

Since you and your One Direction bandmates spend a lot of time in the U.S., let’s celebrate this milestone with your most playful moments.

Now, I could show you a picture of younger Liam with boyish grin:

baby scooby

But he’s different now. He chopped off his hair two years ago! He poses in GQ! He shows off his abs! He wears flannel!

Perhaps we can find a happy medium — mature Liam acting like a kid. After all, we’re all kids at heart, and who doesn’t like a guy with a sense of humor?

1. Only Directioners can appreciate this.

Need To Know: Miley’s VMA Date Handed Himself Over To The Police

by 31 mins ago

With additional reporting by Janelle Myers

Update On Miley’s Date
Miley Cyrus’ MTV Video Music Awards date Jesse Helt just turned himself in to the police for violating probation on a criminal trespass charge in his hometown in Oregon in 2011. He posted $2,500 bail, and his mother reportedly confirmed that the “Wrecking Ball” singer will help him pay for any legal fees.

Jessie J’s Big Week
After her bangin’ VMA performance, there’s no stopping Jessie J, who is contributing a song to the album of the Broadway musical adaptation of “Finding Neverland.” The song is called “Stronger,” and the show’s executive producer is dedicating it to the people of Boston, where the show is currently being shown.

The End Is Near
Jeezy posted bail after being arrested for gun possession Sunday in connection with a shooting backstage at one of his concerts in California.

Most Talked About Wedding
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie got married on Saturday and the world only found out on Thursday.

Must-See Video Of The Day
Constantly claiming you “lit’rally just died” can get literally annoying. “The Boy Who Cried Literally” learns the difference between “literally” and “figuratively” too late in this modern day fable from College Humor.

A David Lynch-Directed Kanye West Video Could Have Actually Happened

by 4 mins ago

Can you imagine the levels of awesome Kanye West’s “Blood On The Leaves” music video could’ve attained with surrealist filmmaker David Lynch behind the lens?

We sure can, and it almost happened, too!

The acclaimed auteur of “Blue Velvet,” “Mullholland Drive” and the light years-ahead-of-its-time TV show, “Twin Peaks,” was asked to direct the clip for Yeezy’s standout track, but ended up bowing out due to lack of inspiration.

“I didn’t come up with any ideas that I thought he would like,” Lynch told The Daily Beast. “Kanye came up to the house one day. Kanye’s a good guy, and a great musician. I loved the song, and that’s what brought us together, but I couldn’t come up with ideas that thrilled either one of us.”

Lynch is a huge fan of the Yeezus MC, so it’s a safe bet that he’ll get another chance to put his eclectic stamp on a Kanye visual.

Let’s just hope that next time, he can find his muse.

Even Scientific Polls Prove That America Loves Beyonce

by 13 mins ago

Yes, MTV has kind of morphed into a version of Beyonce.com after she absolutely stunned us during her VMA performance and we’re all pretty much okay with that. More like BMAs—Beyonce Music Awards, right?? BRB, planning those.

In the meantime, in case you needed any more proof that Bey is America’s favorite, perfect idol, we’ve now got the science and math behind polling to back it up!

That’s right, in the newly released data from The Harris Poll, which surveyed 2,036 Americans between July 16 and 21 of this year, the data shows that Beyonce is the third on the list as America’s Favorite Musician.

Who beat her? The Beatles were at the number one spot and Elvis was number two. I’d say King B is pretty good company.

Hey, we can’t argue with science. Looks like feminist is the new black.

Senator Kirsten Gillibrand Reveals Sexist Comments From Fellow Senators

by 10 mins ago

We are all aware that sexism in the workplace is a hot topic lately, and while it seems to be improving, we are still so far from being where we should be in 2014. So far, in fact, that sexism still runs rampant in the highest government in the United States. Yup, even female senators are consistently judged by their peers based on their weight and appearance. Just ask New York senator Kirsten Gillibrand.

Kirsten Gillibrand, a Democratic senator for New York, has been making the media rounds to promote her new book, “Off the Sidelines,” and in an interview with People magazine, she shared just who the real pigs are in Washington.

In Off the Sidelines, Gillibrand, 47, shares a sobering incident in the congressional gym, where an older, male colleague told her, “Good thing you’re working out, because you wouldn’t want to get porky!” She replied, “Thanks, asshole.” On another occasion, she writes, after she dropped 50 lbs. one of her fellow Senate members approached her, squeezed her stomach, and said, “Don’t lose too much weight now. I like my girls chubby!”

“It was all statements that were being made by men who were well into their 60s, 70s or 80s,” she says. “They had no clue that those are inappropriate things to say to a pregnant woman or a woman who just had a baby or to women in general,” added Gillibrand.

Is “not knowing” still an excuse that we’re willing to accept though? How much longer will ...
