Check Out The First ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ Reviews

by 1 min ago

The pizza party looms.

At the end of the week, “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” arrives to kick shell, take names, and chow down on all of the toppings. Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello and Michelangelo get some help from Megan Fox and Will Arnett in their latest live-action incarnation, but should you join in on the fight as well?

Here’s a small slice of what critics are saying about the new “Ninja Turtles” movie, based on the first reviews that just arrived this week:

The (Somewhat Spoilery) Story
“We open on New York City besieged with the Foot Clan’s crime wave, and TV reporter April O’Neil (Megan Fox) attempting to break some actual news in the case so she can stop doing fluffball pieces about exercise trends. Despite the protests of her lovestruck comic-relief cameraman Vernon (Will Arnett), April goes running into a subway station that screaming people are fleeing, where she spots not only Foot-soldiers but also four shadowy figures fighting back.

“They turn out to be our titular heroes, and in this telling, it turns out they were once April’s pets, part of an experiment being conducted by her scientist father alongside industry mogul Eric Sachs (William Fichtner). During the mysterious fire that cost her father his life, young April set the four turtles and a rat free in the sewers, where they grew up into bi-pedal mutant creatures who studied the ways of the ninja. Sachs, who has pledged to support the NYPD in their battle against the Foot Clan, is thrilled ...

Vin Diesel Still Copes With Paul Walker’s Passing
On “Live with Kelly and Michael,” Vin Diesel admitted that Paul Walker’s death took a huge emotional toll on him and was one of the darkest times of his life. He said, “I’ve been acting all my life and they don’t teach you in acting, how to mourn someone and simultaneously pretend they’re in a scene with you.”

Oh, Aubrey
“Parks and Recreation” star Aubrey Plaza explained that she found it too tempting not to photobomb Katy Perry and Hilary Clinton at a recent book signing of the former First Lady. She saw a window of opportunity — or, rather, a “sliver of space” — and hoped that she would be in the picture. Thank goodness it worked!

14 Movie BFFs Who Demonstrate The True Meaning Of Friendship

by 4 mins ago

It’s National Friendship Day, which means that if you’re not platonically hugging it out right now with your very bestest BFF, you are totally doing it wrong.

Today is all about celebrating our friends: The ones who are by our side through thick and thin. The family we’re bonded to not by blood, but by bloody marys. The people we’d take a bullet for, but would never, ever, ever have sex with. And in honor of Friendship Day, we’re paying homage to these 14 incredible movie friendships, and the lessons they’ve taught us along the way.

1. Jay and Silent Bob, “Clerks

A true friend knows when to stay quiet and just let you ramble, rant, or… rap. Badly.

2. Harry Potter and Hermione Granger, the “Harry Potter” series

Even if you’re the Chosen One, you need a friend to keep you in check when you let it go to your head.

3. Shrek and Donkey, “Shrek

Friends brunch together.

4. Professor X and Magneto, “X-Men: First Class

Even when the erotic tension is so thick you could cut it with a knife, you and your best friend can always remain calm, sit on a red velvet daybed, and drink champagne.

5. Gimli and Legolas, the “Lord of the Rings” trilogy

For when friendships start rough, but finish strong at the black gate of Mordor.

6. Frances and Sophie, “Frances Ha

Best friends always get back together, even if they have to grow apart ...

Beyonce Laughs Off That Billion Dollar Elevator Fight On ‘Flawless (Remix)’ With Nicki Minaj

by 19 mins ago

Just like Nicki Minaj promised, we now understand why she delayed the release of “Anaconda” — so she and Beyoncé could stunt all over us this weekend. After years of Nicki naming Beyonce as her dream collaboration, these two titans finally teamed up on Bey’s “Flawless (remix).”

With Nicki by her side, it sounds like Queen Bey was feeling extra fearless, too.

She basically laughed off the endless gossip surrounding the elevator fight between Jay Z and her sister Solange, singing, “We escalate, up in this bitch like elevators/ Of course sometimes sh– go down, when there’s a billion dollars on an elevator.”

Oh, and, she spit that line one more time, just in case you might’ve missed a single word. “Of course sometimes sh– go down/ When there’s a billion dollars on an elevator.”

On the bridge Bey tells us that she learned good manners from her mama, but Solange taught her to speak her mind, and Jay Z definitely makes her feel so god d–n fine. We’d like to thank Solo for this one. Listen above via Beyonce’s website.

OutKast’s Lollapalooza Look And All Of Their Festival ‘Fits This Season

by 51 mins ago

CHICAGO, Illinois — As the sun set on Grant Park, thousands of concert goers filed in to see OutKast perform last night (August 2) at Lollapalooza. This set just about marked the halfway point for the guys, who signed on to do more than 40 shows this festival season. And while one might think they’d be losing steam, the pair confirmed they’re in this for the long haul.

Since first reuniting back in April for Coachella, MTV News has been keeping track of the group, who’ve been bringing it night after night to cities across the globe. But it’s not just their performances that have caught our eyes. Oh no. Not only have the guys proved that they’ve still got it on the mic — which we never doubted — but they’ve also established they’ve got their stage style on lock as well. From Big Boi’s vibrant prints to Andre 3000′s “Sold Out” tags, the duo are definitely making a fashion statement. But another message being made each night can be found in the form of text on Andre’s (who was was referring to the crowd as “Lollapawinners”) coveralls which, thus far, have changed every show.

Intrigued by the musician’s words of wisdom, (plus, just their incredible clothing choices as a whole) we combed through the archives to provide you with a pic from almost every catwalk, we mean, ...

‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’s’ Practical Sets Were Incredible AND Thrifty

by 7 mins ago

One of the many things that sets “Guardians of the Galaxy” apart from its summer movie peers is that it uses more practical, physical sets than the modern blockbuster.

For director James Gunn, having those sets, especially the one for the enormous prison break sequence, made a huge difference.

“The prison in ‘Guardians’ is called the Kyln,” Gunn told us. “The Kyln was an actual practical set composed of 350 thousand pounds of steel. The only way we could afford to build the set was because we went in, we built it, and then we melted it all down and sold it afterwards back as steel.”

The extra effort was worth it, according to Gunn, since most summer movies wouldn’t have bothered.

“It was an amazing, practical set. I think most movies that you see that are big movies these days use sets like that are almost always green screen,” he said. For us, we tried to build as much stuff as we possible could.”

“Guardians of the Galaxy” is in theaters now.

Chris Pratt Predicts Next Year’s Top Halloween Costume

by 25 mins ago

With reporting by Josh Horowitz

Even if you weren’t super familiar with “Guardians of the Galaxy” before its release (we have a chart for that, if that’s you) we’re pretty sure you have a new favorite talking, machine gun-wielding raccoon in your life: Rocket.

Voiced by Bradley Cooper, the little rodent travels space being generally badass and helping Chris Pratt’s Peter Quill and his fellow Guardians. And guess what? Even Pratt told MTV News that Rocket is the bomb.

“I think there are going to be a lot of people dressed up as Rocket this Halloween, a lot of kids,” Pratt said.

“This is CG unlike anything that I’ve ever seen before, it’s so real,” he continued. “This thing, as funny as it is to have a little talking raccoon with a machine gun running around being an a-hole, what really carries you through is the dramatic reality that there’s nothing else in the universe like him.”

To hear more of Pratt’s thoughts on Rocket, check out the clip above.

Chicago, IL — It’s the summer of OutKast, so it was fitting that Andre 3000 and Big Boi celebrated their latest festival comeback gig with a massive fireworks display on Saturday night (August 2) at Lollapalooza. The dynamic ATL duo brought the old-school funkdafied flavor to their headlining set, serving up plenty of classics as a massive bloom of fireworks exploded behind them during “Ms. Jackson.”

They were just the topper on a day of musical treats, weird scenes and awesome covers at the weekend party by the lake. Here are some of our favorite moments:

Beyoncé And Nicki Minaj Are ‘The S—’ In New ‘Flawless’ Remix

by 1 hour ago

Alright, Beyoncé is going to need to stop with the surprises. As if I’ve fully recovered — which I haven’t — from the release of her most recent LP, (I know it was more than 7 months ago but come on!) Mrs. Carter has hit us with more unforeseen music. And yup, you guessed it, my heart is palpitating.

This time the singer linked up with non other than Nick Minaj on the remix of her Houston anthem “Flawless.” The female powerhouses, dropped the song on Yoncé’s website Saturday (August 2) night, which — shocker — temporarily crashed the database.

On the track, Queen B addresses the recent scuffle between her sister Solange and husband Jay-Z during a Met Gala after party singing: “We escalate, up in this bitch like elevators, of course sometime s— go down when there’s a billion dollars on an elevator.”

She continues: “I wake up looking this good. And I wouldn’t change it if I could. And you can say what you want. I’m the s—.”

Last weekend Nicki announced she’d be pushing the release of her upcoming single “Anaconda” back to this Monday saying we’d soon find out “why.” Looks like we’ve uncovered the mystery and — in ...
