Get A Sheer Bomber Jacket Like Demi Lovato

by 1 min ago

We’re not gonna lie—it’s pretty dang hard to stand out in our celeb-packed Instagram feed, but last night Demi Lovato posted a pic that stopped us dead in our, erm, finger tracks. She shared her “Really Don’t Care” single art, which featured a monochrome sportswear ensemble complete with smokey eyes, burgundy lips, and one badass stance. After staring at Demi’s killer summer goth game for a good 30 seconds, we immediately thought, “Wait, why don’t we wear a simple sheer bomber jacket over a bra and look this good? WE NEED ONE ASAP.” So, we scoured the interwebs for just that.

If you’re looking for just a touch of mesh, we recommend this sheer PU panel jacket (left, $40). The extra texture gives it some edge, but it’s still totally summer appropriate. For something a bit more see-through, we love this lightweight organza sheer-sleeved number that won’t leave you short-changed (middle, $80). For something a bit more sporty, we’re dyin’ to get our hands on this mesh jacket (right, $68) so we can finally pretend all our sports bras qualify as real shirts.

If you want more an investment piece, you can definitely go down the high-end designer route. DKNY makes an oversized bomber (think: past your mid-thighs) that can be layered over virtually any LBD (left, $395). For something that fits more ...

Cam’ron And Nicki Minaj Tell A Break-Up Tale On ‘So Bad’

by 19 mins ago

Back in May, Cam’ron told MTV News that he’d have some huge names on his upcoming monthly 1st of the Month EP series — from 2 Chainz to Wiz Khalifa. And on Tuesday (July 15), he released “So Bad,” with arguably his most highly-anticipated collab: Nicki Minaj.

The song also features a hook from singer Yummy, who laments, “I really thought we coulda worked it out,” over surprisingly upbeat production. Cam and Nicki, who each deliver one verse, take this narrative and run with it, rhyming about a relationship gone awry.

“I mean I love you, I’m frontin’, the feeling’s mutual/ But you ain’t gettin’ me back, man, you delusional/ I shoulda been left your ass, huh?/ Oh, that chickenhead you f–kin’ wit’? Ask her,” Nicki raps.

The track was originally released — minus a verse from Ms. Minaj — back in 2012. This version will appear on the upcoming 1st of the Month: Vol. 2.

The music video, which you can preview below, drops in full on Wednesday.

R. Kelly Is Working On A House Album … Because R. Kelly ‘Is Music’

by 27 mins ago

R. Kelly has conquered R&B, and now it seems that the Pied Piper is on to new horizons.

“I want y’all to know a secret,” the singer announced to an excited crowd during his performance at The Chosen Few Picnic Weekend 2014 in Chicago earlier this month. “I’m working on a house album right now! I want y’all to know, it’s coming!”

Yeah. You heard that right. R. Kelly and House music. If you’re feeling iffy about that proposition, well, you’re not like Kells. He’s certainly not lacking confidence.

“And y’all know I love music and I feel like I can do anything when it comes to music because I am music,” he said.

Kind of reminds of that time last year when he told MTV News — and stressed he wasn’t exaggerating — that “a trillion” babies had been made to his music.

Who knows what this album will sound like, but with the Kells’ silky vocals, we’ll probably be able to add a few more to that modest number when it’s all said and done.

Paris Hilton’s ‘Come Alive’ Video Is A Lisa Frank Trapper Keeper Brought To Life

by 4 mins ago

On Tuesday (July 15), Paris Hilton dropped the music video for “Come Alive”, perfectly capturing the dreamy, ethereal track by throwing a full-on fairytale rave.

The YMCMB signee invites us to a rainbow-colored world full of glitter, flower crowns and rainbow as she sings, “Come here dream girl, I’ll be your princess, whatever you choose, I’ll travel the world just to be with you.” Dressed in sequined gowns, she’s in full-on princess mode — even sporting giant angel wings and lounging on a cotton candy cloud.

But the image that really brings the dreams of every young girl alive? Paris cozying up to a unicorn and pets its rainbow hair like a Lisa Frank notebook brought to life.

“Come Alive” is the second single off Hilton’s upcoming sophomore album, which is set to release later this year.

Brody Jenner Finally Explains Why He Skipped Kim Kardashian’s Wedding

by 9 mins ago

Brody Jenner raised quite a few eyebrows after he was a no-show at stepsister Kim Kardashian’s wedding to Kanye West two months ago.

“The Hills” alum’s absence sparked rumors that there was a rift between the two, but Jenner’s clarified this week he and his sister are all good.

“Not going to Kim’s wedding was not me trying to diss her and Kanye,” Jenner told People at the 9th Annual All-Star Celebrity Kick-Off Party Monday night. “I simply had a very last-minute thing. They didn’t want to let people know about their wedding early in advance, and I had already booked gigs in Chicago and some other places, so I was already working.”

Jenner’s girlfriend, model Kaityln Carter, was also noticeably absent from the nuptials, but there’s a good reason for that, too.

“Of course Kim would let me bring my girlfriend if I wanted to,” said Jenner. “I’m her brother – it’s her wedding. I am allowed to bring someone if I want to.”

Jenner has a good reason for missing Kim’s big day, so why did he attend her ex-boyfriend Reggie Bush’s wedding over the weekend?

“I’ve been friends with Reggie for a very long time,” he explained. “I really love him and he’s one of my favorite people on this entire planet. I got to have a really close relationship with him through him and Kim being together.”

Backlash or not, the only thing Jenner’s concerned about is what Kim thinks.

“The only opinion that matters in this ...

Who Has The Best Hip-Hop Album Of 2014, So Far? Rappers Weigh In

by 35 mins ago

(Rappers weigh in on the Best Hip-Hop Album of 2014)

We’re past the halfway mark in the year, so it’s time to pose the question: Who’s dropped the Best Hip-Hop Album of 2014, so far? There have been a few notable releases from artists including YG, Rick Ross, Schoolboy Q and Ab-Soul, so we’ve definitely got enough material to work with.

Plenty of rappers walked the red carpet at the BET Awards late last month, so we decided to stick a few of them with the question. Hear what they had to say in the video above. August Alsina definitely got away with a diplomatic answer, by the way.

9 Perks Of Not Being A Slob (Like These Guys)

by 1 hour ago

For most of us, our early years are spent living in filth. Who has time to clean up when we have video games to play and frozen pizzas to burn/eat? You do, or you should. Being even remotely clean can do wonders for your life. Here’s a look at just some of the benefits of being a little not as gross.

1. You’ll Have A Room To Bring Someone Back To

Sure, you’re a grownup and you can live as grossly as you want. Guess who doesn’t like that? Anybody you’re bringing home from the bar. It doesn’t matter how attractive you are if your room is so messy and smelly it’s terrifying.

2. Your Roommate Won’t Hate You

DishesImgur

The only thing people dislike more than doing dishes is doing your dishes. Clean up after yourself, and you won’t have to worry about your roommate doing terrible, awful things to you in your sleep. Speaking of which…

3. You Won’t Get Internet Shamed

Gross RoommateImgur

Step up your game before you become the next meme.

4. You’ll Actually Be Able To Use Your Kitchen

Go ahead. Make some space for that juicer you’ve been wanting.

5. Nobody Has To Destroy The Rainforest To Pee

The TP Seat should be for public bathrooms only, not your frat-house-level filthy pee room.

Everyone shut up, because something huge has happened. I mean, have you not checked your social media handles today? The “#THANKSZAYNFORMAKINGYOURIGPUBLIC” hashtag is trending the f–k out of Twitter.

Why? Ummmm, how about because the “You & I” might be wearing a wedding ring in a selfie from July 15? YEP. And that’s just the beginning. Listen: La Roux Delves Into The Darkness On Trouble In Paradise

by 3 mins ago

When I first moved to New York, La Roux’s “Bulletproof,” an anthem for shaking off bad love and entering new chapters of one’s life, blasted from every bar and club that my friends and I wandered into.

That was half a decade ago, though, so much in the same way that I’m not the same person now who hung out at Williamsburg hipster meat markets dancing to MGMT’s “Kids” until 3 a.m., La Roux (a.k.a. Elly Jackson) is far from singing the same refrain.

“‘Bulletproof’ is a whole thing of its own,” Jackson told MTV News of her hit song. “I knew I never wanted to write another song like ‘Bulletproof.’ I don’t think I’d be able to make the record I’ve made now if I had made another ‘Bulletproof’ since ‘Bulletproof.’”

La Roux’s sophomore record, Trouble in Paradise — her first in five years — drops on July 21, and it’s streaming as of today on iTunes Radio. She cut ties with past collaborator Ben Langmaid this time around, working instead with producer/engineer Ian Sherwin, and that decision — along with vocal issues — made the road to this record a difficult one.

An album that Jackson said was supposed to sound like “what people in the ’70s thought the future would look and sound like,” the collection of tunes is about “all about the darkness lurking behind the most beautiful tune, the doubts in even the happiest of ...

Taylor Swift Was On Set With ‘The Giver’ Star Brenton Thwaites, Which Is Weird For Reasons

by 13 mins ago

Brenton Thwaites has been on the cusp for a while now, with recent roles in the horror hit “Oculus,” the sci-fi film “The Signal,” and a small but crucial role in the megahit “Maleficent.” But it’s the upcoming “The Giver” that will most likely break him through to the next level.

The YA adaptation of Lois Lowry’s beloved novel stars Thwaites as Jonas, a boy who lives in a post-apocalyptic society engrained with Sameness. Only when he starts to work with an old man with secrets of his own (Jeff Bridges) does Jonas start to realize the world is less black and white — quite literally — than he first thought it was.

“I was drawn to Jonas mainly because he has such a complex journey throughout the film,” Thwaites told MTV News when we talked over e-mail. “He is literally chosen to ‘learn the history of the world.’ I thought, ‘I would like to learn me some history of the world from Jeff Bridges. Let’s do this!’ ”

giver1a_lg

Thwaites’ enthusiasm for the project wasn’t muted by the challenges that lay ahead of him on set. The first of those was the very precise language in the story, as the characters spend a good amount of time figuring out the exact right words to use in order to deliver their desired effect.

According to Thwaites, this is something they spent an enormous amount of time working on, on set as well, as, “Jeff, [Director] Phil [Noyce] and I ...
