After the commercial and critical success of last year’s “The Heat” and 2011’s “Bridesmaids,” “Tammy” is the latest summer comedy from the increasingly ubiquitous Melissa McCarthy. While she’s always been either part of a large ensemble or paired with another A-list star, “Tammy” is being marketed and promoted as a purely McCarthy affair. That’s no coincidence as the film is co-produced and co-written with her husband, Ben Falcone, who also steps in to direct.

The film finds our titular character at a cross roads in her life. After losing her dead-end job and discovering her husband has been cheating on her, Tammy decides to hit the road with her alcoholic grandmother in tow. Needless to say, hilarity and hijinks ensue.

Among the standout moments in the film is when Tammy dances in the parking lot, getting herself ready to rob a Jack-in-the-Box-like fast food chain called Topper Jack’s. In the trailers, all of this is slowed down and set to “Gangsta’s Paradise,” while in the film Tammy is dancing along to Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’ “Thrift Shop.”

“’Thrift Shop’ was what Melissa envisioned,” Ben Falcone explains about the song choice that plays in the film itself. “She had the idea, ‘Oh I think that would be cool,’ so we actually played it while she was doing it.”

Jeff Winger shouldn’t hang that law shingle just yet, but Dean Pelton can officially dust off his best cheerleader costume, because “Community” is back in session. Again. Again.

The little show that could has risen from the dead once more thanks to a last-minute stay-of-execution from Yahoo. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the whole gang will be back on board for the Yahoo reboot, including show runner Dan Harmon and stars Joel McHale, Gillian Jacobs, Yvette Nicole Brown, Danny Pudi, Alison Brie, Ken Jeong and Jim Rash.

The ratings-challenged sitcom canceled by NBC in May will join a few other original offerings on Yahoo from executive producers Paul Feig (“Bridesmaids”) and Mike Tollin (“Smallville”). At one point it looked like McHale and the gang might be headed to Hulu, but even Harmon seemed skeptical about its ninth life.

“I’m not going to be the guy that recancels cancelled ‘Community,’” he wrote in a blog post shortly after the NBC cancellation. “But there are lots of reasons a ‘Community’ resurrection could be difficult. So be prepared for that.”

But on Monday, Harmon was all smiles. “I am very pleased that ‘Community’ will be returning for its predestined sixth season on Yahoo,” he said in a statement. “I look forward to bringing our beloved NBC sitcom to a larger audience by moving it online. I vow to dominate our new competition.”

Mark Ruffalo knows a whole heaping lot about Bruce Banner, comic book history included. Speaking with MTV News, the “Avengers” star basically ran down the entire plot line of “Planet Hulk” verbatim, without any cue cards or off-camera refreshing — all of it off the top of his head. And then he flat-out denied that “Planet Hulk” would be the Jade Giant’s next big-screen destination following the upcoming “Avengers” sequel.

But was Ruffalo just playing coy? Is there actually something to the rumors that Banner’s next film following “Avengers: Age of Ultron” takes place in space?

That’s the rumor according to HitFix.com’s Drew McWeeny, who seems to have reliable intel when it comes to the “Avengers” sequel. In fact, he posits that Banner is headed for a meeting with another Marvel superhero team — one that tees things up for a greater Marvel showdown in the third “Avengers” film.

Adam Levine’s romances in Maroon 5 videos, while passionate — are hardly without their problems. There was that time his wife left him in “One More Night,” the time his girlfriend cheated on him in “Wake Up Call,” the violent, push-and-pull infatuation though out “Misery,” but despite all that, the band’s latest video for “Maps” may be the most dramatic yet.

In the new clip, which premiered on MTV on Tuesday (July 1), Levine find the love of his life lying in a hospital bed in critical condition — heart not beating, face lacerated, eyes lifeless. And once he starts retracing the night — remembering that she stormed out of a party after he was cozying up to another woman — it all gets that much darker.

“Maps” is the lead single off V, out September 2, which finds the band uniting with Gwen Stefani on a track as well as with producers Max Martin, Benny Blanco, Ryan Tedder, Shellback and Sam Martin.

When we caught up with Levine earlier this month, he said the next album will be an “all-encompassing kind of record.”
