Beyonce’s Father’s Day Wish For Jay Z Is The Best

by 06/15/14

Somehow Beyoncè manages to be both the queen of hip-hop and Instagram, but she may’ve topped herself with this Father’s Day post.

It’s amazing how a simple “Happy Happy Father’s Day” caption can slay us, but consider the material, via her Instagram account this morning: Bey’s hubby Jay-Z holding their tiny daughter Blue Ivy on his shoulders.

Happy Happy Father's Day

We’re pretty sure this adorable, indelible black and white image will be our favorite of the celebrity snapshots paying tribute to dad today, but hey — there’s still time, <a href=Kim and Kanye!

Relive ‘The Lion King’ 20 Years Later — In Cat GIFs!

by 06/15/14

If you’re a ’90s kid and you haven’t been feeling old today, well I have some news that might change that. Our childhood animated classic “The Lion King” just turned 20.

And it only makes sense to honor this piece of history with the new traditions of the current decade. Here is the entire story of Simba’s life, in cat GIFs. Because, well, cats.

Mufasa has a younger brother named Scar, who pretty much resents Simba because now he’ll never ever be King.

Simba gets this amazing ceremony to celebrate the “Circle of Life” (Because, ya know, because he’s going to be King one day.)

Flash-forward a few months, and Simba is already like “I just can’t wait to be King!”

But he doesn’t know how to stay out of trouble, so he’s stuck with an annoying feathered baby-sitter named Zazu.

One day, Simba and his best friend Nala escape Zazu’s watch and wander into the dangerous Elephant Graveyard.

Some big ugly hyenas try to attack the cubs, but Mufasa races in and saves the day.

Scar, who is aligned in the hyenas, becomes overwhelmed with feelings of disrespect and plots to kill Mufasa and Simba.

Scar comes up with a plan to trick Simba into putting himself in danger, by having him wait in a gorge alone.

The hyenas create a stampede of wildebeests in the gorge that will trample Simba, but Mufasa once again races to his rescue. He makes it just in time to toss Simba to safety.

As Mufasa ...

Would You See This Version Of ’22 Jump Street’?

by 06/14/14

Something about this trailer is a little … different. Can you tell? It’s the exact same trailer for the summer hit “22 Jump Street,” minus the star power. While we’ve already discovered a few easter eggs from the original film, this trailer version stars Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill’s stand-ins. Props to Channing’s stand-in Brad Cookus, and Jonah’s, Ivan Hoey, Jr.

What is a stand-in exactly? They’re the noble people that are involved with the tedious lighting and film process, before the actors are brought in for their lines.

Here’s one for the little guy.

“22 Jump Street” came out Friday and is in theaters now!

Who’s That Bride? Eve Ties The Knot

by 06/14/14

Rapper Eve has tied the knot with fiancé Maximillion Cooper, cofounder of the Gumball 3000 — a 3,000 mile international motor rally. The couple originally met at the event in 2010 and appropriately set their wedding venue in Ibiza, Spain, the last stop on this year’s track.

The couple has been engaged since Christmas 2013. The new Mrs. Cooper shared a shot from this year’s race, where she’s sporting an all-white body suit (while this would make for a snazzy walk down the aisle, E! reports the rapper wore an Alice Temperley gown for the nuptials).

Congrats on reaching the finish line!

Miley Cyrus Strips Down For These Topless Shower Selfies

by 06/14/14

There isn’t much of Miley Cyrus we haven’t seen. Whether wearing a nude latex ensemble at the VMAs, or swinging naked on a “Wrecking Ball,” we’re actually pretty familiar.

But we have not seen Miley soap up with suds in the shower, until today.

The Before:

Standing stark in her undies, Cyrus takes a selfie rocking some serious bed head (that she impressively shaped into a mohawk), and a very strategically placed octopus friend- which we’re guessing is to avoid the #freethenipple consequences sanctioned by Instagram).

While we don’t get to jump into the stream with Miley like other celebs have boldly done, we can only imagine Miley’s lather, rinse, repeat routine. (She’d totally be singing into the showerhead like a microphone) a la Emma Stone.

The After:

Miley emerges looking fresh faced and towel dried, relaxing on soft sheets, aka the best feeling ever after you’ve showered. Her itty bitty bikini shows off her range of tats, and her messy ‘do is now sleek and shampooed, clearly evidenced by the #PostShowerSelfie.

Watch These Nirvana Fans Get Super Psyched Over The Band’s 1992 Homecoming

by 06/14/14

We love it when our friends become successful. Especially when they graduate from playing the dingy, sticky-floored bars to stadiums and multi-platinum, worldwide stardom while upending the music business with a loud, don’t give a f— sound that nobody’s ever heard before.

So you can imagine how the fine gentlefolk of Seattle felt on September 11, 1992, when Nirvana came back home to play their first hometown show since conquering the planet with their 1991 breakthrough, Nevermind. The Seattle Center Coliseum show (with openers Helmet and Fitz of Depression) had Seattle residents super-psyched when MTV News came around to ask about the local boys done good.

In addition to speaking to a woman who claimed to be Kurt’s cousin and childhood Big Wheel-riding buddy, Kurt’s mother, Wendy O’Connor, popped up and mused about her conflicted feelings about her son’s stardom. “I have mixed emotions about it,” she said. “I’m glad he made enough of a success to make a living but some of it is too much for him, I think.”

Nirvana, who were recently inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, played in front of 15,000 fans that night.

Check out the video below and look for Hacky Sack Guy, who pretty much sums up the whole “whatever, nevermind” sentiment of the day.

We Asked, You Told Us: The World Cup Is Way Cooler Than The Olympics

by 06/14/14

The summer Olympics are awesome, and the winter games are no joke either. But if you’re like nearly half of the world’s 7.2 billion population, chances are you will watch some of the 2014 FIFA World Cup soccer championship at some point over the next month.

We’ll say that again: HALF OF THE GLOBE’S POPULATION.

Needless to say, footy is kind of a big deal. Which is MTV did a survey of just how excited young people are about the tournament and, well, they’re psyched to say the least.

The Best?
1. 61 percent of millennials we talked to in Australia, the U.K., France, Latin America (Argentina, Colombia and Mexico), Germany, Italy, Southeast Asia (Philippines, Malaysia and Singapore) and Spain think the World Cup will be more exciting than the Summer or Winter Olympics.

2. 74 percent of American millennials feel like the World Cup is an important event for uniting the world’s people.

3. Half said they’re more interested in the World Cup than their elders.

Feeling Cocky
4. Which country feels like they have the best chance at winning the whole thing? Germany, at 76 percent.

5. Defending champions Spain are right behind at 69 percent.

6. A Latin American country hasn’t hoisted the winning trophy since 2002, but respondents from the host region had a 60 percent confidence rate that this is their year.

Not So Much
7. As cocky as those countries are, some nations are not so sure. Respondents in the U.K. and France were pretty sure they were going to go home losers by a, respectively, 51 ...
