Missed Warped Tour Day One? Here’s Every Amazing Thing You Missed

by 06/13/14

When the 20th annual Vans Warped Tour kicked off Friday (June 13) in Houston, and fans who couldn’t wait until the cavalcade of punk, emo, metal, and hardcore rolled into their town, the concert was streamed live online all day. The stream of 30 bands spread out over five stages was like being everywhere at Warped all at once, and with almost none of the accompanying festival odors.

So great to have The Devil Wears Prada back on #warpedtour and they are on LIVE now on vanswarpedtour.com

In case it wasn’t obvious how hot it was in Houston on Friday from the non-stop references from the stage, The Devil Wears Prada‘s Mike Hranica sweating straight through his short-sleeve button up painted a pretty vivid picture. Granted, he and the rest of the band were working on songs like “Assistant to the Regional Manager”, with its barely-controlled chaos and corrosive metal-core fury.

Boston’s Ice Nine Kills impressed with traumatic, melodic metal-core on songs like “The Fastest Way To A Girl’s Heart Is Through Her Ribcage,” but vocalist Spencer Charnas screaming Adele‘s “Someone Like You” from the top of the barricade stood out.

Also repping strong for Massachusetts were Worcester’s melodic hard core act Four Year Strong, who stirred up a big time singalong for their track “Wasting Time.” And aside from one of the ...

Lady Gaga Frees Her Nipples In NYC: See The Pics

by 06/13/14

Lady Gaga is no stranger to showing off her assets. She’s been doing for years now (for the sake of art). But today (June 13) Mother Monster joins the rankings of high-profile women who are letting their girls fly free in public.

With trusty companion Asia by her side, Gaga was caught strolling the streets of New York City in a revealing black chiffon jumper.

Celebrity Sightings in New York - June 12, 2014

New York is one of very few cities in the United States to de-criminalize female breast exposure, legalizing the act back in 1992.

Between Rihanna’s bare-all CDFA dress and Miley Cyrus’ heavy support, Scout Willis’ #FreeTheNipple campaign is becoming an unstoppable force of feminine power.

Angelina Jolie Honored By Queen Elizabeth II

by 06/13/14

By Maurice Bobb

Everyone knows that Angelina Jolie is beautiful, but now, she’s officially been dubbed a dame.

For those not in the know, a dame is the female version of a knight and Friday (June 13) she was recognized for her humanitarian efforts and given the honorary royal title by Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II.

The Oscar-winning actress received the honor because of her work for combating sexual violence in war zones.

“To receive an honor related to foreign policy means a great deal to me, as it is what I wish to dedicate my working life to,” she said.

The “Maleficent” star was in London this week to co-host an international summit on sexual violence and was one of many recognized on the queen’s annual Birthday Honors List for services rendered in their community or national life.

Jolie, who pledged to scale back her movie roles to concentrate on her humanitarian work, is also a United Nations special envoy.

“Maleficent,” which has grossed more than $350 million worldwide, is in theaters now.

Sam Smith’s Bonnaroo Set Just Cost Him Big Time

by 06/13/14

By Mary J. DiMeglio
MANCHESTER, Tennessee — The always-humble Sam Smith had low expectations for his Friday afternoon (June 13) Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival set — so low that he bet against himself.

“I made a bet with my manager that there would be no one here, so I owe him a lot of drinks,” Smith confessed early in his performance.

An enthusiastic crowd not only turned up en masse, they sang and swayed along, making the U.K. crooner and his backing band feel more than welcome.

The 22-year-old You Outta Know Artist is gearing up to release his debut album, In the Lonely Hour, on Tuesday. New songs, including “Leave Your Lover” and “Like I Can,” are clearly already very familiar to his fanbase, who unabashedly belted along during his show.

“Money On My Mind” and Naughty Boy’s “La La La” were crowd favorites, and time seemed to stand still during his angelic “Lay Me Down.”

His album’s single, “Stay With Me,” which is blowing up the Billboard Hot 100, had the audience absolutely swooning.

To fill out his hour-long set, Smith presented his terrific cover of the Arctic Monkeys’ perfect “Do I Wanna Know?”

Smith hinted that he will take the same stage later Friday night with U.K. producers Disclosure. It’s a safe bet: Their “Latch” collaboration is what made him a star — even if he’s still not ready to believe it.

Meek Mill, Diddy And French Montana Are ‘Dem Boyz’: Preview Their Wiz Khalifa ‘Remix’

by 06/13/14

Last week, Wiz Khalifa teased us with a snippet of his “We Dem Boyz (Remix)” featuring Nas. And it looks like Esco and Mister Cap aren’t the only ones taking a crack at remaking the hit: Meek Mill, Diddy and French Montana can be heard on a new preview.

RealTalkNY was out in Miami on Thursday night and caught some footage of a version of the “We Dem Boyz (Remix)” blaring through the speakers.

Though there’s not much to see, and the audio isn’t quite CDQ, it sounds like this may not be affiliated with Wiz’s official remix. In his preview from last week, the beat and tempo of the song are different. It also sounds like French is rapping about his many recent appearances on TMZ, thanks to his relationship with Khloe Kardashian.

The site also reports that it appeared the MCs were shooting a video for the track. No word yet on when the full or official versions are set to drop.

Wiz is preparing to head out on his Under the Influence Tour later this summer, alongside Jeezy, Tyga, DJ Drama and more, and is also readying his Blacc Hollywood album.

‘Hellion’ Star Aaron Paul Tells Us What He Was Like At 13

by 06/13/14

Aaron Paul is an established, respected TV and movie actor, whose latest film “Hellion” sees him playing a father of a teenager (played by Josh Wiggins).

But Paul wasn’t always so respectable, especially when he, like his on-screen son, was thirteen.

“That’s eight-grade summer, right? That was the greatest summer of my life,” Paul told MTV News in advance of the movie’s release in theaters. “The summer nights in Idaho, roller-blading around, sneaking into girls houses, getting chased away from their fathers. It was so fun!”

Paul apparently was a bit of a wild child. A real Jesse Pinkman, maybe?

“I wasn’t a bad kid, but I just liked to roller-blade and make out with girls,” Paul responded.

“Hellion” is also filled to the brim with heavy metal music, but the chill Paul probably wouldn’t have any of it playing on his iPod.

“Definitely not metal, but I think it’s a perfect fit for this film,” Paul noted on his personal music choices. “I’m more of like a Radiohead guy.”

The young star also wore another hat in the film (in addition to the one he was wearing during the interview), taking on the role of Executive Producer. How was he as an EP on set?

“I have no idea, I still don’t know what I’m doing, let’s be honest,” Paul joked. “I had a hand in who was going to be in the film, who I thought would be good for Jacob. It was very important to all of us to find the right kid, because it’s ...

We Wrote Some Hunky Haikus About ’22 Jump Street’

by 06/13/14

Some things are just so beautiful that there’s only one way to talk about them: In disciplined verse. You know what’s so beautiful?

Channing Tatum, for one.

Laughter is also a beautiful thing. As it so happens, there’s something coming up that involves both the very pleasant looking Tatum and the gift to the world that is a good belly laugh.

That’s right, we’re about to get real poetic about “22 Jump Street.” Handle it.

We’re sure that the Japanese poets of yesteryear never imagined that their regimented triplet form of poetry, the 5-7-5 pattern, would be used to gush about shirtless dudes, explosions, parkour and making out with Ice Cube’s daughter, but we like to think that somewhere out there, they’re nodding in approval.

Without further ado, please enjoy our very special “22 Jump Street” haikus, starring Tatum and Dave Franco. (He may be in prison, but he’s still handsome.)

Tweets Of The Week: Camila Nakagawa Is Basking In Brazilian Pride

by 06/13/14

These days, your Twitter timeline says as much about you as your taste in movies or fashion sense — and ours is chock full o’ MTV greatness. Between the intriguing “Teen Wolf” stars and the “Code” jokesters, our network’s cast members have always got a ton to share on social media, and each week, we’re rounding up the posts that had us RTing like crazy. Check out the latest!

CamilaPride2@CamilaMTV

Veteran Challenger Camila Nakagawa went down in truly heartbreaking fashion on “Free Agents,” but she’ll be damned if the country she loves, Brazil, suffers the same fate in this year’s FIFA World Cup tournament.

The competitor famous for her “Cameltdowns” tweeted photos flooded in green and yellow yesterday. She even cheered for her team in her native Portuguese — her sentiments roughly translated as “I am a Brazilian with lots of pride and love!” (many thanks, Google Translate!). Brazil beat Croatia 3-1 yesterday when the games officially got underway, so that should keep our gal extra proud!

Meanwhile, Laurel Stucky finally admitted to being in the wrong after a lengthy “Free Agents” argument with BFF Cara Maria Sorbello. But Jillian Rose Reed made no apologies for being pantsless around the “Awkward” set. And while Elizabeth Whitson urged “Awkward” viewers to consider that she’s not as menacing as the character she plays (scheming Eva!), Nicole Byer of “Girl Code” continued to prove she’s always herself, through ...
