’16 And Pregnant’ Poll: Can Tony Step It Up For His Family’s Sake?

by 05/19/14

By Leslie Simon

On tonight’s episode of “16 and Pregnant,” we met Karley, an academic overachiever who was forced to put her college plans on hold upon finding out she was expecting TWINS with her boyfriend, Tony. After news of the pregnancy sunk in, Karley and Tony got married and moved into her parents’ house, much to the dissatisfaction of the young dad-to-be.

Throughout Karley’s pregnancy, Tony grumbled about his living conditions, and though his complaining seemed to stop once Amariah and Amayah were born — mostly because he and his wife were so busy taking turns feeding, burping and changing the babies’ diapers — it wasn’t long before he started venting about how much he hated not having his own space (one particular fight with his mother-in-law, Cindy, turned into a verifiable screaming match). But all hell really broke loose when Tony dropped his family’s entire savings on a used truck…that only sat three people.

“I can’t just go out and spend a bunch of money on something I want,” Karley said upon hearing about Tony’s purchase. “I’ve given up basically everything. Whenever I do anything, I take into consideration our family and our babies.”

Tony insisted that if he made the money, then he could decide how to spend it — and Karley could get her own job if she objected. But Karley explained that it would be impossible given their current situation for her to bring in an additional paycheck.

Karley didn’t ever think she’d have ...

50 Cent ‘Toasts To Success’ — With Tony Yayo — In ‘Twisted’ Video: Watch

by 05/19/14

By Maurice Bobb

It’s celebration season for 50 Cent, who dons a black tuxedo and an air of sophistication in the new visuals for “Twisted,” the final music video, released Monday (May 19), in his Animal Ambition series.

Set in a lavish nightclub, the Eif Rivera-directed clip begins with Fif surrounded by equally dapper male companions toasting to success with a parade of beautiful women as Dutch singer Mr. Probz croons over the smoothed-out track.

While smoking the finest cigars and popping bottles, Forbes’ #5 wealthiest rapper expounds on his comeuppance in the rap game with lines like “We done came so far, I mean look where we are/ If they don’t call us by name, they call us entrepreneur” and “I’m fond of the phrase ‘if there’s a will there’s a way’/ ‘Cause we come from the part where only killers get play.”

The biggest surprise, though, is the unmentioned cameo by Tony Yayo. Let’s all hope Yayo raising a glass with Curtis means the longtime partners-in-rhyme have ended their beef and have plans to collaborate again in the near future (Summer Jam 2014?).

Animal Ambition, which features guest appearances by Jadakiss, Yo Gotti and Trey Songz, is slated to drop June 3.

Joe Manganiello Wants You To Meet The Real Magic Mike: Watch The Trailer

by 05/19/14

By Maurice Bobb

You might want to leave those singles at home, ladies, because “La Bare,” a documentary about what goes on behind the stage at the world’s most popular male strip club is coming to the big screen this summer. Judging by the NSFW trailer, it’s more than just pelvic thrusting and baby-oiled studs. Hunky “True Blood” actoor Joe Manganiello makes his directorial debut with a film that gives a more realistic and, well, provocative look at the men who are “up all night to make a living.”

The nearly two-minute clip begins with two ripped “cowboys” knocking on a door in a very unassuming neighborhood before entering the house and becoming the G-stringed, gyrating main attraction for a bevy of shrieking women.

“Men want to see naked women,” the trailer’s narrator says, as behind-the-scenes footage from renowned Dallas strip club La Bare is shown. “What women want is the show.”

Several women give giddy interviews, with one explaining that “men are more like microwaves and women are more like an oven,” while cheek-baring male dancers share their stories of free enterprise, excitement and tragedy.

The film’s auteur, Mangianello — who most fans recall in his memorable role as “Big Dick Richie” in 2012’s comedic romp about male strippers, “Magic Mike” — wanted to venture into uncharted territory with this doc.

“With ‘La Bare,’ I had somehow sailed my way into uncharted waters and stumbled upon an island not recorded on any map … the completely misunderstood world of male entertainment,” Manganiello told

‘Faking It’ Poll: Why Did Liam Back Off When Karma Finally Said Yes To Sex?

by 05/19/14

Karma and Liam‘s up-and-down, back-and-forth, sexually-charged relationship has been nothing short of an emotional roller coaster ever since the pretend-lesbian caught the eye of the school’s biggest stud. If they could only be honest with each other, something real could potentially come out of this secret romance, but then again…the show’s called “Faking It.”

While Karma continues to convince everyone — including her own parents — that she’s dating her BFF, Amy, she’s been trying to land her male crush on the side, but her grand plan ain’t working out so well. Let us review:

First, the Hester High students shared a romantic kiss that left the bubbly brunette hungry for more, but then she realized that the BMOC was just in the market to have sex with a lesbian — and didn’t have feelings for her, specifically. She eased off, yet Liam quickly charmed his way back into her heart, and they almost knocked boots in the backseat. At the last second, Karma came to her senses and cut the moment short, making a beeline outta the car and back to her best pal.

Then, on last week’s episode, the hunky artist opened up to Karma about his complicated family history, and shared that she had no reason to be jealous of the mysterious girl at the “Occupy Hester” protest, because it was his sister. Karma then confided in Liam that her parents never really understood her until she came out (oh, the irony), and that she was ...

Beyonce, Solange And Jay Z Took A Happy Family Photo Because What Controversy?

by 05/19/14

Apparently, I didn’t feel bad enough about the hungover nothingness that was my Saturday morning, because Beyoncé has shared photos from a mini-family reunion that went down this past weekend at Solange‘s home in New Orleans. Though her ways be mysterious, I will learn from this shame. Amen.

And the “Pretty Hurts” singer and her little sister weren’t alone. Bey’s husband, Jay Z, was in attendance along with their daughter, Blue Ivy, and Solange brought her son, Julez, and her director boyfriend Common Alan Ferguson. Even the Knowles family matriarch, Queen Tina herself, #blessed the city of New Orleans with her presence.

So what if the photos were shared on Beyoncé.com and Instagram partially in response to the elevator-video controversy? Those smiles are too warm to be insincere — not even the legendary acting talents behind this “Run” trailer could manufacture those grins. All in all, it looks like the Knowles-Carter family had the kind of weekend get-together that I can only aspire to. First step: Wake up before noon this Saturday.

Lykke Li Brings The Heartbreak At Intimate L.A. Show

by 05/19/14

LOS ANGELES — Heartbreak and sadness sounds better when it’s imported from Sweden. At least, that was my takeaway when I caught Lykke Li at the Roxy Theatre on Sunday. The 28-year-old songstress performed an intimate set list — from “Youth Novel” to cuts from her recently released third studio album, I Never Learn — as part of StubHub’s “Next Stage” concert series.

And it was for a good cause, too, benefitting the Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation, which helps music programs at Los Angeles-area schools.

Dressed in all black under a metallic-reptilian textured overcoat, Lykke Li looked almost lonesome as she hit the stage but once she opened her mouth and began to sing, her voice filled the room. And though her music may be melancholy at times, the singer was anything but with her fans. Confident, engaged and eager to express in her distinctive way how it feels to be sad, numb or happy, Lykke Li played to the crowd with a set that included many old favorites as well as new tunes.

Lykke Li In Concert - Los Angeles, CA

While most tours tend to showcase songs from a singer’s current album, Li’s show was a tug-o-war of emotion, bouncing from her more dance friendly “Wounded Rhymes” to the soulful ballads from the I Never Learn album. Li’s set alternated between highs and lows, as if mimicking the ups and downs of a typical relationship. She opened with her newest album’s title track, ...

Meet Flume, And Watch The Aussie Producer Perform ‘Holdin On’ Live

by 05/19/14

While we’re undeniably in the midst of an electronic-music takeover here in the States, the blend of acclaim and popularity enjoyed by Flume is still a rare package. Born Harley Streten, the 22-year-old Australian producer has already packed the type of milestones into his short career that most artists can only dream of hitting in a lifetime.

Find videos, live performances, and interviews at Flume.mtv.com.

His debut EP, Sleepless, features hypnotically chiming loops, and soulfully dissected vocals from Anthony For Cleopatra (and later with Jezzabell Doran). The title track off of that 2011 release in particular demonstrates the blend of technological chill and organic warmth that characterizes his best work.

“I think I put a lot of special attention towards creating interesting textures and unique sounds,” Flume told Dazed & Confused at the time regarding his sound. “Music essentially boils down to two main elements, rhythm and melody. I feel tones and textures often get overlooked, so I like to take my time finding the right sounds.”

“Sleepless” earned the MTV Artist To Watch his first taste of success, and it pushed Flume in front an audience of discerning fans and artists eager to collaborate. He’d barely had any other music to his name at the time, but a breakthrough performance at the Australian festival Splendour in the Grass sealed the deal of big things to come.

Like, say, that time when Flume’s self-titled debut album went to No. 1 on the Australian charts ...

Outkast Storm Hangout Fest And Resurrect The ‘ATLiens’

by 05/19/14

It was a chill Sunday evening on the beach, before OutKast hit the main stage at the 2014 Hangout Festival, and showed the crowd what the ATLiens were all about.

Performers like Jack Johnson delivered laid back sets earlier in the day, but Big Boi and Andre 3000 didn’t waste any time turning energy levels all the way up, as they jumped right into the bass-fueled cut “B.o.B.,” just two songs in their performance.

Where to go from here? Into all of their greatest hits, that’s where. OutKast was in golden form for the last show of the weekend.

Three Stacks, with his penchant for off-the-wall outfits, kept it weird and wonderful in a white wig and black jumper emblazoned with the text, “Big girls are beautiful to me.” And then there was the reversible “For Sale/Sold Out” sign hanging from his waist — a glimpse into his thoughts, perhaps?

Big Boi balanced Andre’s quirky getup with a fresh white button down shirt and matching shorts, splattered with floral prints.

Classics like “Rosa Parks” and “Ms. Jackson” were peppered into the first round of songs — making the crowd go absolutely insane — and Sleepy Brown’s cameo for “SpottieOttieDopaliscious” was a trip of its own. Because only Sleepy could make a pair of silk pajamas look so good onstage.

Before the boys launched into “Da Art of Storytellin’ (Part 1)” they thanked fans for rockin’ with them for 20 years, recalling their teenage years in the rap game.

Sorry Christmas, Miley Cyrus Used All The Tinsel At The Billboard Awards

by 05/18/14

When she’s not busy jamming on Beatles classics with her best fwend and Flaming Lips frontman Wayne Coyne, Miley Cyrus has a career of her own to attend to.

On Sunday night (May 18) that meant, well, jamming with her best fwend Coyne on their cover of “Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds.” There was glitter, more glitter, and, we’re going to assume an upcoming worldwide shortage of tinsel, since she and Coyne used about 250 pounds of it to make themselves his-and-hers silver and gold shiny outfits.

Beamed in from an overseas stop on her Bangerz tour, the mostly faithful rendition of the Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band ballad had Miley singing the rock classic’s lysergic lyrics in her slightly hoarse style, as Coyne joined her on the choruses. That is, when he wasn’t bending down to kiss her bejeweled feet or smashing a crash cymbal with a taped up maraca.

When it was all over, the cameras cut to dad Billy Ray Cyrus, who looked… proud?

The remake of the Beatles classic went on sale as part of the pre-order of the Lips’ upcoming Fab Four covers album.
