6 Things We Learned About Chris Martin’s ‘Conscious Uncoupling’

Chris Martin was sick of being afraid. Afraid of love, of life, of success. Just afraid of everything. The Coldplay frontman has been quiet about his split from wife Gwyneth Paltrow so far. But in an interview with BBC Radio 1′s Zane Lowe, Martin finally opened up about what pulled the couple apart, and well, it was mostly fear.

Here are six things we learned from the chat.

1. Grow Up, Dude
Martin said what broke the couple up after 11 years wasn’t exactly a “breakdown,” but more of a moment of clarity. “This was more a realization about trying to grow up basically. Like I said, if you don’t open yourself up, you can’t appreciate the wonder outside,” he said, declining to get too personal. “So you can be with someone very wonderful, but because of your own issues you cannot let that be celebrated in the right way.”

2. It’s On Me
What changed for Martin was that he realized he didn’t want to go through life being scared. Not scared like, ‘Dude, that is a HUGE tarantula!’ scared, but the other kind. “I don’t want to go through life being scared of it, being scared of love, being scared of rejection, being scared of failure,” he said. “Ever since our band came out, we’ve been a very polarizing group because we do a certain thing very well … About two years ago I was [like], ‘I’m a mess really because I can’t enjoy the thing that we are good at and I can’t enjoy the great things around me because ...

Flying Solo: Harrison Ford Has ‘Gigantic’ Role In New ‘Star Wars’

With the cast of “Star Wars: Episode VII” more or less set in stone, it’s only a matter of time before we hear official word that the franchise’s original big three players — Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford — are all back in the mix.

Hamill and Fisher’s involvement in the new “Star Wars” comes as no surprise, but over the years, Ford’s relationship with the galaxy far, far away has been … icy, to put it in Hoth terms. And yet, not only is Ford back in the “Star Wars” mix, it’s also rumored that he’s involved in a “gigantic” way.

That’s how Deadline phrases it; in their rundown on the possible “Star Wars” castmembers, they mention that Ford has “a gigantic role” in “Episode VII.” That’s a pretty big left turn for the once and future pilot of the Millennium Falcon, the same guy who has barely been able to put the words “Star” and “Wars” in the same sentence without stifling a scoff.

So, what changed? What reason does Ford have to not only participate in the new “Star Wars” film, but to have a “gigantic” role in the movie? The answer is probably very big and very green, and we’re not talking about this guy:

Business reasons aside, what’s happening creatively? Is Ford finally getting his wish — an epic, fatal farewell for the galaxy’s greatest smuggler?

Another question worth pondering: Are Hamill and Fisher’s roles as “gigantic” as Ford’s? As Luke and Leia, both Hamill and Fisher are just as important to ...

New ‘Godzilla’ Trailer Unleashes All The Monsters

Forget the meek; it’s the monsters who will inherit the Earth.

At least, that’s what we’re gathering from the new trailer for “Godzilla,” the upcoming reboot from Warner Bros. and director Gareth Edwards. Previous trailers have been dominated by “Breaking Bad” veteran Bryan Cranston’s Heisenbergian monologues, but the new trailer is all kaiju, all the time — and that extends beyond the king.

The new trailer reveals our best look yet at “the Muto,” genetically-modified monsters of the same size and scope as Godzilla. That’s right: Godzilla has more problems to worry about than Walter White, Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch, already a murderer’s row as far as human resistance fighters go.

Of course, this is a “Godzilla” trailer, which means there has to be some great Cranston voice-over action as well.

“Whatever it is that’s in there — whatever it is that they’re guarding so carefully — it’s real,” Cranston says with his signature (re: awesome) whisper-growl. “God help us all.”

We see flashes of Godzilla battling a winged creature, with hundreds of onlookers caught up in the conflict. The trailer ends with some words of wisdom from Ken Watanabe:

“The arrogance of man is thinking nature is in its control,” he says, “and not the other way around. Let them fight.”

The “Godzilla” fight begins on May 16.

What do you think of the new “Godzilla” trailer?

‘Star Wars’: Is This The Official ‘Episode VII’ Cast?

That swell of emotion in the pit of your stomach? It’s probably just gas — but it’s also possible that you feel a disturbance in the Force.

Although it appears that Disney and Lucasfilm won’t officially announce the cast of “Star Wars: Episode VII” until May 4 (which is “Star Wars Day,” because “May the Fourth” be with you and all that Jedi jazz), it’s looking like we might know at least some of the cast as soon as today.

Deadline reports that the “Episode VII” cast is assembling in London for the film’s first table read. As such, we’re starting to hear names about who’s involved in the first new “Star Wars” movie in almost a decade, including:

Adam Driver, who has been rumored to play a “Star Wars” villain for a few months now.

John Boyega, the “Attack the Block” actor who was previously connected to playing a major, heroic role.

Maisie Richardson-Sellers, a virtual newcomer who was trained at Oxford, and has also been linked to a major role in the past.

Oscar Isaac, star of “Inside Llewyn Davis,” and a brand-new name to the “Star Wars” casting rumor mill; he’s apparently in line for “a major role.”

The big three, of course: Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, and last but certainly not least, Harrison Ford, who is said to have “a gigantic role” in the new film.

Aaaaand this guy.

Okay, wesa just kidding about that last guy.

For now, these are all nothing more than the ...

‘The Voice’ Recap: Did You Get Adam Levine’s Phone Number?

By Emilie Cruz
As the top 10 on “The Voice” continued to sing for America’s votes Monday night (April 28), Christina Grimmie proved herself to be a frontrunner in the competition while Blake Shelton answered all of our prayers by tweeting Adam Levine‘s personal cell number.

Before it got down to the nitty-gritty, though, MTV’s Artist-to-Watch Rixton made their U.S. television premiere with a performance of their current hit “Me and My Broken Heart,” getting a standing ovation — and an air drum jam session — from Usher and Shelton.

Then came the tweet that changed everything: Shelton, who threatened to leak Levine’s cell number earlier in the day, made good on his promise. Levine tried to call his bluff, but soon his phone was ringing off the hook. Unfortunately for us, the line was busy the six times we tried calling — but we promise we were only calling for a quote from either coach!

(Shelton’s tweet has since been removed.)

After it was all said and done, and the top 10 laid their hearts on their stage, we compiled our top three favorite performances from the night:

Hold On, She Ain’t Goin’ Home
Team Adam’s Christina Grimmie definitely put an impressive gap between herself and the rest of the pack after her stellar performance of Drake’s “Hold On, We’re Going Home.” The 20-year-old took a completely different approach to the smash hit, opting to play the piano for an acoustic arrangement, and blowing the audience away with her high notes and incredible falsettos. She got a standing ovation from her coach who praised ...

See Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter V Artwork, Courtesy Of Kobe Bryant

By Maurice Bobb

Lil Wayne has called Kobe Bryant his inspiration for life and music, which is why he got the Los Angeles Lakers great to premiere the cover art for his highly anticipated Tha Carter V on Monday (April 28).

“Carter V season begins #carterV,” Kobe tweeted, with a picture of the simple yet balanced artwork. The red Roman numeral V is centered on a white background with the phrase “Tha Carter V” shadowed all around it equidistantly. eezy’s name sits atop the numeral, with a lower case “lil” preceding an all-caps “WAYNE.”

The five-time NBA champ also posted the LP’s cover art on his Instagram page.

The fifth and final installment of Tunechi’s Carter series was originally slated for a May 5 release date, but another Bryant, Cortez (Wayne’s manager), denied those rumors, citing that the extended wait will be worth it.

“Gonna be f—in’ amazing,” he said. “It’s gonna be that good.”

“I say it’s different, because I’m older and wiser, and I know more things and I know more about myself now,” Wayne told MTV News last month. “I’m more careful about what I’m doing and trying to be more careful what I’m saying. It’s awesome; it’s coming together dope. I think the Wayne fans are gonna like it.”

Craig Ferguson To Step Down As Host Of ‘Late Late Night’

By Maurice Bobb

Looks like CBS is on the search for another late-night host.

Craig Ferguson, longtime host of “The Late Late Show,” has announced that he will step down as the show’s compere in December 2014, when his contract with the network expires.

According to a CBS press release, Ferguson broke the news to his studio audience during the taping of Monday’s (April 28) show, which features Candice Accola and LL Cool J.

The Scottish-born comedian’s announcement comes just one month after David Letterman announced his retirement from “The Late Show” and two weeks after CBS named Comedy Central’s Stephen Colbert as his successor.

Ferguson has served as Letterman’s late-night companion in the 12:35 a.m. slot for nearly a decade. Variety reports that his decision to bow out was expected since CBS went in another direction with Letterman’s replacement.

Ferguson carved a nice latenight niche for himself with his zany one-liners and signature monoloques.

Ferguson was nominated for an Emmy in 2006 and won a Peabody Award in 2010 for his hosting talents and was nominated for a Grammy for his comedy album “I’m Here to Help” this year.

Ferguson is set to host a new game show called, “Celebrity Name Game”, which debuts this fall. The team-based game show is based on the board game “Identity Crisis” and was created by Courteney Cox and David Arquette.

Action Bronson’s Getting His Own Show: ‘F–k, That’s Delicious’

How did it even take this long?

After years of rapping about food, talking about food and making food, Action Bronson finally is finally starring in his own food-related show.

The series, wonderfully titled “F–k, That’s Delicious,” will air online through Munchies, a subsidiary of VICE. A trailer for the show, which will drop new episodes monthly, was released online on Monday (April 28).

“You always hear me rapping about things; this is a rare chance you get to actually see it,” Bronsalino says to the camera to open, before diving some 20 feet off of a boat and splashing into a body of water. From there, it’s all about food.

In the first episode, which will air in May, cameras follow Bam Bam as he eats his way through New Zealand, Australia, and South Africa during Eminem’s Rapture Tour. Plus, he hits some of his favorite New York eateries like Roberta’s in Brooklyn and Eddie’s Sweet Shop in Action’s native Queens.

There’s a gushing egg sandwich, perfectly cooked ribs, smokey barbeque, and plenty of other mouth-watering goodness.

Future episodes will document snacking stops along the southeastern United States, England and Eastern Europe.

“All I believe in is food and myself,” Bronson says in the trailer. Hey, not a bad motto.

Future Tells The Surprising Story Behind ‘Drunk In Love’

By Adam Fleischer, with reporting by Sway Calloway

He created some of the melodies on Beyoncé‘s smash “Drunk in Love,” but Future‘s name doesn’t appear anywhere in the song’s credits. How does something like that happen?

It has a lot to do with the song’s producer, Detail, Future told MTV News.

The producer, who has worked frequently with the Atlanta rapper, had the beat for what would become “Drunk in Love” and wanted Future to lay some vocals. (Detail he thought Bey would see the potential in the song if she heard the hit-maker on it.) The Freebandz MC was game.

“I know the direction people think she was gonna go,” he told MTV News’ Sway Calloway. “And for you to have ‘Drunk in Love,’ it’s a whole ‘nother direction; it’s like, that young and fresh. She do this, it’s over. I was excited about it.”

A few days later, Detail called Future to say that Queen Bey was in the booth, working on the song. That only got the Epic Records signee even more enthused.

Then, as he worked on his sophomore album, Honest, which hit stores on Tuesday, Future used the same melody he had created for “Drunk in Love” on a track called “Good Morning,” which was also produced by Detail. “‘Drunk in Love’ didn’t come out for about six, seven months,” he explained. “‘Good Morning’ [was] finished; done.”

When Beyoncé dropped her album in December, Future was just as surprised as the singer’s fans.

“I was like, ‘What I’mma do with ‘Good Morning’ now? This one of our favorite songs,” he wondered. ...

The posse cut, which features Jay Z, Rick Ross, Meek Mill and French Montana, will serve as the lead single for Khaled’s eighth studio album, I’ve Changed A Lot, which fans can expect at some point this summer.
