Tupac Shakur Biopic Finally Gets A Director

Sometimes the first choice is the best one, even if you need to go the long way to get back there. Two years after he signed on, and then dropped off, the
biopic project chronicling the life of late rapper Tupac Shakur, director John Singleton is back on the job.

According to Variety Singleton has signed on to rewrite, direct and produced the movie about the legendary rapper who was killed in a still-unsolved murder in Las Vegas in 1996.

"Tupac was the guy who I planned to do a lifetime of films with," Singleton said. "His passing deeply affected my life as well as countless people in this world. His life story is as important to my generation."

Why Singleton Is The Perfect Choice
Singleton knows his subject better than just about anyone in Hollywood. After smashing into the game with the Oscar-nominated "Boyz n the Hood" in 1991, Singleton came back two years later with "Poetic Justice," a drama starring Janet Jackson as poet Justice, who falls for postal clerk Lucky, played by Shakur.

After his first big role in 1992's "Juice," Shakur cemented his status as a potential leading man in "Poetic Justice." The rapper attended the Baltimore School for the Arts as a teen, where he studied acting, poetry and ballet, which helped him pull off a natural transition from radio to the screen. Additionally, Singleton's direction brought out a sensitive, nuanced side of Shakur's personality that was a nice balance to the rapper's more hardcore musical persona.

Tupac's mother, Afeni Shakur, is an executive producer on ...

Mariah Carey And Nick Cannon Re-Enact ‘Mean Girls’… And It’s So Fetch

"So you agree. You think you're really pretty."

Chances are, if you were born between 1971 and yesterday, you've heard and recited the words of "the queen bee, the star" Regina George in the 2004's comedy "Mean Girls."

But you haven't reallyheard them until the true queen bee, the real "star" says them.

We're talking about Mariah Carey, of course. The "#Beautiful" singer stopped by "MTV First: Mariah Carey" to debut the fanciful video for "You're Mine." In the middle of an in-depth chat with MTV News correspondent Sway Calloway about her unconditional love for her lambs and why she really hated "American Idol," husband and "Wild N Out" host Nick Cannon crashed the interview — and, according to Mariah, "took over the whole show."

After grilling Cannon on why, exactly, he's ditching his wife on Valentine's Day, the couple paid tribute to the 10-year-old comedy by re-enacting the iconic scene of when Cady met Regina.

The casting was easy: Mariah assumed the position of Regina, because, "of course, duh." And while had her doubts as to whether Nick had the acting chops to play the public-school virgin Cady Heron — "You're going to try to change the whole dialogue and ruin it," she groaned — it's all pretty fetch.

Mariah is surely sweeter than selfish, back-stabbing slut faced ho-bag, but when she says "shut up," it sounds eerily spot on.

This was just one of several can't-miss moments from our "MTV First" sit-down. Check out the full interview here

Will You Have A Better Valentine’s Than Bieber? We Asked A Psychic

Will love — or one of its many iffy iterations — be in the cards for you this Valentine's Day? Or will it be more of a watching-When-Harry-Met-Sally-while-crying-and-texting-long-lost-exes kind of evening?

Allow our resident psychic Licorice Root to look to the stars and help you plan your night. Chapstick or tissues? That is the question.

Valentine's Day Scopes

Full Moons provide excellent lighting on date nights, and lucky for us, this Valentines Day we'll be blessed with full lunar luster during the Sun in Aquarius' opposition to the Moon in Leo. How will this full moon affect you this Valentine's Day? Let's take a look at the stars to see how you'll fare.

Aries

Aries usually loves to do all the chasing, but this year, you may find yourself a little soft and not so up to fighting a huge battle to win your love. Single Aries may find themselves not so interested in finding a date, choosing rather to focus on themselves and perhaps hoping that this year someone will try to conquer them. Attached Aries may find that they want to renew their friendship with their loved one — the excitement will lie more in, "What band are you listening to now?" rather than, "Boxers or briefs?"

Aries born the same week as James Franco, April 19, will find that they especially are not willing to go to battle for love this year, preferring to have a easy and cool weekend.

Taurus

Everyone wants more of you, Taurus — even you! Everyone is demanding your time, and you especially are ...

‘Robocop’: Joel Kinnaman And Gary Oldman’s Relationship Was ‘Quite Touching’

When audiences go to see "Joel Kinnaman, who plays the titular role, it was working with co-star Gary Oldman that made the remake worth it.

"It's one of the great experiences of my career and my life," Kinnaman told us while discussing the true relationship at the heart of the new film: that of RoboCop and his creator.

In the film, Oldman plays Dr. Dennett Norton, an OCP employee on a deadline to deliver an up-to-spec and on-time cybernetic cop. And he gets his chance once Detective Alex Murphy is mortally wounded in a car bombing; and accident that destroys most of the Detroit cop's body.

"It starts out as almost like Dr. Frankenstein and his monster, and then it transitions into this father and son relationship," Kinnaman said. Oldman added that what happens next becomes, "quite touching at times," as Dr. Norton grapples with his desire to deliver a profitable RoboCop unit, with his duty to preserve the humanity of his patient.

Kinnaman and Oldman also co-starred in the upcoming Soviet-era drama "Child 44," but didn't get a chance to shoot any scenes together. So Kinnaman was thrilled to learn that he'd get the chance to work opposite an actor he admires so deeply.

"I had the most difficult and demanding scenes with him," Kinnaman said of their relationship. "It was an incredible experience."

"RoboCop" is in theaters now.
