To Smother Or Not To Smother? Future Islands Give First Date Advice

Valentine's Day is nigh — a day that has all the love birds out there twittering and the lonely hearts crying to the uncaring heavens, "What's wrong with me?!" Well, maybe your texting trigger finger is just too itchy — or not itchy enough?

As the day of giant teddy bears approaches, MTV News hit up Baltimore band Future Islands to get their first-date advice. Even though lead singer Samuel T. Herring admitted, "I'm probably the wrong person to talk to," the guys finally gave up the goods.

While some solid advice was thrown out — be yourself, take your lady juicing — the main debate seemed to be, however, about the prudence of "smothering."

Should potential paramours jump in feet first and send that text? Or should dudes and ladies play it cool? Check out the debate in the video up yonder.

Future Islands are currently touring in support of their upcoming record, Singles, due out on March 25. They're actually playing on Valentine's Day, which is the anniversary of the first show the trio played together. Cue the "awwww"s.

Kristen Stewart: ‘I Stand By Every Mistake’

Kristen Stewart's every move has been publicized, scrutinized and analyzed. And, for the most part, the "Twilight" actress has kept mum ... until now.

In the March issue of Marie Claire, Stewart gets frank, opening up about making mistakes in the public eye, falling in love and how she's fully aware that people think she's "awkward."

The interview shows the "Twilight" star in a whole new light, so we rounded up some key quotes from her candid cover story.

Go Ahead And Judge Me
Stewart came under fire back in 2012 after she cheated on then-boyfriend Robert Pattinson with her "Snow White and the Huntsman" director, Rupert Sanders. Stewart issued a public apology and she and RPattz eventually reconciled before splitting for good last year.

Though Stewart doesn't directly address the cheating scandal, she does admit to the magazine that she has no regrets about slip-ups she's had in the past: "I stand by every mistake I've ever made. So judge away."

She Can't Help Who She Loves
In 2013, a newly single Stewart grabbed some down time for herself. She took road trips with friends, wrote poetry and reflected on her love life before coming to the conclusion that you can't control your heart.

"You don't know who you will fall in love with. You just don't. You don't control it," she says. "Some people have certain things, like, 'That's what I'm going for,' and I have a subjective version of that. I don't pressure myself. If you fall in love with someone, you want to own them — but really, why would ...

Michael Sam Gets Support From Michelle Obama, Jason Collins After Coming Out

With some calling him the Jackie Robinson of football, Mizzou defensive end Michael Sam made history over the weekend when he came out in advance of the NFL draft.

The 24-year-old All-American University of Missouri Tigers star let his teammates know he was gay last August, but when he revealed it to the world in a series of high-profile interviews, Sam instantly earned the distinction of potentially becoming the first active openly gay player in NFL history. "I looked in their eyes, and they just started shaking their heads — like, finally, he came out," Sam told the paper about his teammates' reaction.

The NFL released a statement saying it admired his courage and honesty. "Michael is a football player. Any player with ability and determination can succeed in the NFL We look forward to welcoming and supporting Michael Sam in 2014."

Now it's time for the world to react to the news and, not surprisingly, Sam is getting a lot of support from both the football world and those outside of sports for his brave decision to break one of the biggest barriers in professional sports. While NBA journeyman Jason Collins opened the door a bit last year by coming out while not actively playing hoops, it remains to be seen how, or if, Sam's revelation will impact what most have predicted will be a potentially exciting pro career.

Here are some prominent reactions to Sam's announcement:

Former New York Giants running back Tiki Barber said it was about time the NFL "show its colors."

Hall of Fame cornerback/receiver Deion "Prime Time" Sanders ...

Facebook Now Lets You Ask Friends For Music Suggestions

Want some music suggestions from your friends but don't really want to talk to your friends? Well, Facebook has you covered: The social network has added an "ask" feature that makes it simple to garner entertainment recommendations from your friends.

When you click onto a friend's profile, scroll down the left side of the page to his/her music, books, movies or TV shows section. Underneath his/her picks, you'll see a button reading "ask" next to the line "Ask [friend] for a music recommendation."

When you press "Ask," you'll be able to fill in a text box specifying what kinds of tunes you're looking for, as well as add more friends to the query. When your friend receives the request, they can either answer with recs from their own Likes, or search for a specific band.

After clicking on the recommendation, you can add it to what appears to be a new section of your profile titled "Listen Later" for music, "Want To Watch" for movies and TV and "Want To Read" for books.

There are still some kinks to be worked out with these features — each section also boasts suggestions, and all my music suggestions are bands I've recently listened to on Spotify — but the "ask" button could be a cool way to crowdsource new tunes.

Try it out and tell us in the comments below: Did you get any worthwhile musical suggestions from your friends?

Miley Really Meant The ‘Party In The U.S.A.’ Thing: See Her Bangerz Tour Pic

Miley Cyrus is gearing up for a "Party in the U.S.A."

With just days until her Bangerz Tour kicks off Friday in Vancouver, British Columbia, Cyrus gave her Smilers another sneak peek at what they can expect, giving them a glimpse at a very patriotic outfit.

On Sunday, the "Adore You" singer, who is surrounded by three similarly dressed back-up dancers, posted on her Instagram a shot of her practicing her dance moves in a red, white and blue leotard complete with cowboy boots and a black purse draped on her right shoulder.

Shortly after, Cyrus showed off another risky look, this one taken from the back. The pop star showed off her toned physique in a silver sequined leotard complete with white cowboy boots emblazoned with a dollar sign.

Some viewers might have to do a double-take of this picture, since Miley is grinding up against her back-up dancer, who is dressed as a human-sized joint, which makes sense since Miley recently revealed to W magazine that she

These looks are just two of several designer duds Miley will be sporting while on her tour, which will make 38 stops in North America before heading to Europe in May. Miley enlisted some of the top designers, including Roberto Cavalli, Marc Jacobs and Jeremy Scott to design pieces for the tour.

Just last week, Miley, who said that her tour would be posted another photo from rehearsal, which showed her laying across a giant hot dog that was suspended in the air.

"It's a lot how a play would ...

8 ‘LEGO Movie’ Easter Eggs You Probably Missed

It's only been out for one weekend, but you've probably — like most of the world — seen "The LEGO Movie" multiple times. But did you catch all the Easter Eggs and plot points that zip by during the non-stop speedy dialogue and action? Here are some of our favorite blink-and-you-miss-it moments. And spoilers on, of course:

"Eight And A Half Years Later"
Right at the top of the movie, after Lord Business (Will Ferrell) and Vitruvius (Morgan Freeman) battle for possession of the all-powerful Kragle, we cut to a title screen that says, "Eight And A Half Years Later." While this is a nice preview of the running "very specific time frame" joke throughout the movie, it's also way more important to the plot.

That's because Finn (Jadon Sand), the kid who ultimately turns out to be playing with the LEGOs in the movie is eight and a half years old. So though it's never explicitly stated, when Finn was born, The Man Upstairs locked his toys away, separated the worlds and made sure that his son would never play with them. Given the poignant ending, this is yet another beautiful, emotional detail that adds to the richness of the film.

Gone In A Flash
Batman, Superman, Green Lantern and Wonder Woman all get their time to shine in the movie, but there is one other DC Comics superhero gets his big screen debut. That would be the Flash, seen during Metal Beard's flashback to the Master Builders' initial assault on Lord Business' stronghold. He doesn't get any lines, so hopefully we'll ...
