Lindsay Lohan Post-Rehab: Lessons From Her Early Years

After three months of court-mandated treatment, actress Lindsay Lohan was released from a rehab facility on Tuesday, reportedly headed for a stay with a sober coach. But the 27-year-old won't be avoiding the limelight for long.

Lohan's buzzy film directed by Paul Schrader and co-starring porn actor James Deen, opens Friday (August 2), and as a bit of publicity, Lohan will fill in as host of Chelsea Handler's late-night E! talk show "Chelsea Lately" on Monday. Then there's the eight-episode docu-series for Oprah Winfrey's OWN network slated for 2014, which will be preceded by a sit-down with the veteran host, airing in August.

To be sure, it's a pivotal moment for the troubled actress, who has another opportunity to start anew after a trying few years. And if she's looking for advice on how to proceed, she need look no further than her own career, which has boasted its fair share of highlights. Here, five moments that hit the mark and the lessons Lohan can use going forward:

"The Parent Trap"
Lohan made her big-screen debut in this Disney remake of the classic 1961 film, and audiences were smitten with the cute, bubbly redhead they met on screen. It may have helped that there was twice as much to love as she played twins.

The Lesson: Family fare is a safe zone. Provocative content will get you headlines, sure, but not necessarily the kind you want. A heartfelt project in the vein of "The Parent Trap" could go a long way toward rehabbing your image and would also prove that ...

What’s Inside Katy Perry’s Prism Truck? We Think We Know …

Katy Perry didn't exactly play it coy when it came time to announce the title and release date for her new album, eschewing the normal press release in favor of printing the information on the side of a gold-plated semi-truck wheeling through Los Angeles.

So, while it was difficult to miss the fact that Prism will be hitting stores on October 22, we still have no idea what's inside that golden 18-wheeler, and Katy's not about to tell us, either. In fact, when she was asked that very question by a fan, well, she suddenly decided to get all mercurial on us.

Okay, Katy, we'll play along. Surely you're not just sending an empty semi across the country — since, y'know, that would be pretty bad for the environment (what would Smurfette think?!?) — and while we love the idea of you trucking copies of your new single to retailers everywhere, we suspect you don't have your Commercial Driver's License, so that's out too. Also, we didn't notice any air holes poked in the trailer, so we're pretty sure you're not keeping your dancers back there, either.

So, just what is inside Katy Perry's gold-plated 18-wheeler? Here are our best guesses.

» Cats. A whole lot of cats.

» Kathy Beth Terry.

» The mobile unit of the NSA's PRISM surveillance program.

» All of Russell Brand's stuff.

» An even smaller golden truck.

» The Smurfs, whose escape will no doubt lead to some wacky adventures in the real world!

» All the remaining copies of 2001's Katy Hudson album, ...

Earl Sweatshirt ‘Blacked Out’… And Created Doris

Jay Z once joked that he'd "inspired a generation of bad writers" when he gave up on penning lyrics in favor of spitting full songs off the top, but we'd like to think that he inspired a generation of quick thinkers instead. Earl Sweatshirt's introspective single for example, was a result of one of those golden moments, or what producers Christian Rich described to MTV News as lyrical "blackout."

Earl enlisted twin brothers, Kehinde "Rich" Hassan and Taiwo "Christian" Hassan, to handle the a bulk of production on his debut album Doris, including "Chum," which was birthed during a memorable studio session.

"Most of the sessions were about five hours of talking crap — what artists you like and you don't like, having fun — and then he'll just black out and be like, 'OK I got a verse,'" Kehinde explained. "That's how 'Chum' worked."

"We were just playing around and I didn't even think the beat was done yet, and he's like, 'Yo I got a whole song.' He goes in the booth and just spits it in one take. One take. What happened to that dude was chillin' and talking crap? He said 'I'm gonna do this in one take, and he really did."

During his time working with Christian Rich and The Neptunes, who assisted on "Burgundy," Earl continued to improve his production skills. In that particular session he watched Pharrell take a 20-minute break from recording what would eventually become Robin Thicke's hit "Blurred Lines" to knock out the "slowest beat he's ever done" for "Burgundy."

Katy Perry’s Prism: What We Know So Far!

The details for Katy Perry's Prism have been teased for some time now, but the most tantalizing information rolled through the sunny streets of L.A. on Monday, when she announced the title and release date on the side of an eye-popping gold truck.

With fans counting down the days until October 22, MTV News is rounding up what we know about the release... so far.

She Has A Lot To Address
Perry's 2010 Teenage Dream not only spawned hits like "California Gurls" and "T.G.I.F. (Last Friday Night)" but a re-release billed as "The Complete Confection." In the years since, Perry has divorced Russell Brand, changed her hair color numerous times and found love again with John Mayer.

So, perhaps that will all help shape her latest musical confection? She teased, "It's gonna be three years later, how about that? Pick up where we left off."

It May Be Loud
With the album title and release date confirmed, fans are anxiously awaiting to hear what the lead single will sound like. And it may be a loud one. According to a new report from Idolator, that lead single might be called "Roar," but Perry and her camp have yet to confirm the rumored title.

We May See A Double Rainbow
Back in the spring, in line with the then-unknown album title, she shared that she and Bonnie McKee had penned a track called "Double Rainbow" that may find its way on there. In an interview with Vogue, where she addressed her pre-album jitters, she teased that another track, "Bad Photographs," ...

Lindsay Lohan Out Of Rehab

Lindsay Lohan was released from a rehab facility on Tuesday after three months of court-mandated treatment
as part of a plea deal in a traffic case.

TMZ posted a photo of Lohan, looking bright-eyed and smiling, as she was leaving the facility and reportedly headed to her stay with a sober coach for several days.

The 27-year-old actress agreed to spend 90 days locked down in a rehab facility to avoid a possible eight month jail term stemming from accusations that she lied to police
about a June 2012 car accident.

Though she was also ordered to complete 30 days of community labor and submit to 18 months of psychotherapy, Lohan will hit the ground running following what is believed to be at least her sixth trip to rehab.

Her new movie,
opens on Friday and she has agreed to fill in for Chelsea Handler on Monday's episode of the E! late night show "Chelsea Lately."

She will also be the subject of an exclusive eight-episode docu-series on Oprah Winfrey's OWN network, which will follow her as she tries to reboot her career and stay sober after leaving treatment. The series is slated to air in 2014. Lohan will also sit down with Winfrey for an interview that is scheduled to air in August.

Though some critics have not been kind, the director of "The Canyons," had high praise for his star.
"Similarities? Tardiness, unpredictability, tantrums, absences, neediness, psychodrama — yes, all that, but something more, that thing that keeps you watching someone onscreen, that thing you can't ...
