One Direction Rock, Twerk And Do The Robot: Seven Fun Concert Moments!

WANTAGH, New York — If there hadn't been cars, limos and vintage VWs lined up for a mile down the street, arriving at Jones Beach on a hazy, cloudy Friday evening would've seemed like entering an abandoned shipyard on the coast of Long Island. But instead, One Direction fans, or, ahem, Directioners, hung out their windows, screaming frantically in the sea-salty air before finally reaching the theater. Take Me Home blared from car stereos and subwoofers.

When Harry, Louis, Liam, Zayn and Niall emerged onstage later on, the sky let loose with rain, like it was special-effects confetti released from the ceiling. They started with "Up All Night" to kick off the concert, and although the crowd would probably only be out until curfew, 1D still took us well into the rainy night.

While we'd like to highlight every moment from the fivesome's tour stop — like the time Harry Styles told us all we were beautiful or when Louis' eyes twinkled on the big screen — here's the top seven fun moments. So, you know, we don't go too crazy with the swooning.

Dance Your Pants Off
One of the things that separates a modern boy band from those of a decade ago, is that you don't get all of the hyper-choreographed dance moves. But even though 1D stray away from jazz squares and "bye, bye, bye," they still have a groove of their own. Some favorites from the Jones Beach show include robotic hip thrusting, the swanky hip swings, air drumming and their signature rowboat move. Niall twerked a bit ...

Katy Perry Was On Lock For Bonnie McKee Vid, But What About George Takei?

Bonnie McKee proudly declares she's an on her high-energy debut single, which she dropped last Wednesday. But what makes the song so buzz-worthy is the video that goes along with it, thanks to the star-studded cameos.

Celebrities ranging from close pals like Katy Perry and Ke$ha to less expected ones, including Tommy Lee (in drag!), "Star Trek" star George Takei and legendary rock band Kiss, all appear in the clip. "I know that people when you're not somebody yet people are less likely to help out, so I was taking a chance hoping. I knew that Katy would support me and Ke$ha and everybody, my close friends, but some of the other ones are just a gamble. I'm still shocked actually," she explained to MTV News.

The songwriter/pop singer (who has penned tracks for Ke$ha and Perry, among others) opened up about tracking down the who's who of stars who ended up in the final cut.

"Well Kiss, I've known since I was a teenager. I had the same manager as Kiss for a long time back in the day. So I used to go backstage and hang out with them and they just always were big supporters of me," she explained. "They were kind enough to lend their iconic faces to the video, so they're like old-school friends of mine."

They aren't the only rockers in makeup; a dragged-out Tommy Lee also makes a memorable appearance, drumming and applying makeup. She said, "I know him through kind of the DJ circuit. So [my boyfriend and I] went on a rave ...

Drop City Yacht Club Will Bring ‘Surf And Fun’ To Hip-Hop Album

Drop City Yacht Club are storming the music scene so loudly this summer, you won't be hearing "Crickets." With their first single out, the California hip-hop trio has announced big plans for the release of their debut album this fall.

MTV News sat down and talked with Kristo, A Wolf and THX regarding their summer plans, which include everything from a tour, shooting new episodes for their YouTube series DCYC.TV and finishing up their album.

"We kind of want to keep it a secret but there's very cool surprises on the album," Kristo said. The guys say fans can expect to hear a wide-ranging influence: like if the Beastie Boys met the Beach Boys.

"Musically we've always kind of prided ourselves on doing different stuff, not really doing what anybody else was doing," A Wolf said. Weaving in aspects of laid-back California and the streets of New York, the whole idea was "to show a side of California that wasn't shown in hip-hop music... the surf, fun, feel-good vibe."

With major traction gained after the release of their first single "

"It's kind of like the story of the underdog," Kristo said about "Crickets."

This honesty matched with catchy beats is stirring up anticipation for the first album from the group since officially changing their name from "The Freshman" after signing to A&M/Octone. And if the new name has you scratching your heads, the trio explained its meaning.

"[Drop City] was like the first hippie community," Kristo said of the commune of artists formed in the 1960s. "It was just a ...

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’ ‘Same Love’ Is ‘Perfect’ Anthem For DOMA’s Defeat

It's been a pretty memorable year for Seattle-based poet and singer Mary Lambert: She sang the hook on Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' equality anthem "Same Love," which took society (and hip-hop) to task for their homophobic stances, watched as the song became the unofficial anthem for the Referendum 74 campaign to legalize same-sex marriage in Washington (a measure that passed in November) and a genuine Top 40 hit on radio, and then, earlier this week, witnessed history when the Supreme Court overturned the Defense of Marriage Act.

And though she's been celebrating her successes all year long ("I find any excuse to have champagne as often as possible," Lambert laughed), it was the Supreme Court's decision on DOMA that really had her in the mood to party. And, so, she did just that ... with a fete she dubbed "Suck It, DOMA," and, of course, some karaoke.

"When the Supreme Court decision came in, my girlfriend and I just couldn't believe it! And, to be honest, it didn't hit right away; it felt so progressive and it felt like such a monumental thing," Lambert said. "I had to keep saying it over and over again: 'The majority of the Supreme Court decided it was unconstitutional.' And they're old people!

"So we were all celebrating at this bar and it became a big thing — I kind of just made up the 'Suck it, DOMA' name — and then my partner and I went out to the lesbian bar and sang karaoke," she continued. "Of course, I was really feeling it, ...

‘The Heat’: The Reviews Are In!

2011's "Bridesmaids" proved unequivocally that a mostly female cast could not only captivate male and female audiences, but conquer the box office. Its director and one of its stars are back to prove they can make magic happen twice. In "The Heat," Melissa McCarthy plays a loose-cannon cop who butts heads with a straitlaced FBI agent (played by Sandra Bullock) while the two of them investigate drug dealers. Filmmaker Paul Feig ventures into what is typically men's territory — buddy cop movies — for an adventure that threatens to tickle your funny bone and thrill your pulse at the same time.

But do critics think that the "Bridesmaids" follow-up is as funny, and fresh, as its predecessor? MTV News rounded up a handful of opinions from some of the web's top critics.

What's The Basic Breakdown Of 'The Heat?'
"A gleefully R-rated comedy packing intermittent belly-laughs but not a lot of truly inspired comedic moments, 'The Heat' twists the conventional macho buddy-cop movie by making its main characters bickering women — a clever idea that doesn't quite translate into dynamite execution." — Tim Grierson, Screen Daily

How Are Bullock and McCarthy As a Comedic Team?
"McCarthy and Bullock, both naturally funny people, feed off one another and crackle as one of the best comedy pairings since John Cleese and Michael Palin. 'The Heat' is a decent movie; McCarthy and Bullock are outstanding." — Jordan Hoffman, Screencrush

How Well Does The 'Action' Work In This Action-Comedy?
"At its best, 'The Heat' is profane, ludicrous, and violent, but it never feels gratuitous, for some ...

Kim Kardashian Is A ‘Natural’ With North West

In the nearly two weeks since Kim Kardashian gave birth to North West, fans have heard very little from the reality star, who only broke her Twitter silence to wish sister Khloe a happy birthday on Thursday. Luckily, her friends and family have been quick to weigh in on the new mom's new life.

And it seems she's adjusting just fine. Kim's friend, Pussycat Dolls founder Robin Antin, dished about visiting with mom and baby. "When I walked in to see her, Kim was holding the baby," she told Us Weekly, who also reported that Kim has been breastfeeding her daughter, who was born five weeks ahead of schedule on June 15. "I said, 'Oh, my God. You're a natural.' Kim said, 'I know — it's so weird!'"

Kardashians Reveal Secrets Behind North West's Name!

She's not just getting a glowing review from Antin, who cast Kim in her Pussycat Dolls revue back in 2008, but also former E! star Lisa Gastineau.

"She's very chill and nothing bothers her. She just rolls with it. You would think that she'd be all uptight, but she is the easiest person," she told E! News. "I can tell you one thing that she would be happy for me to say, that I can, is that baby is absolutely gorgeous. Everything you would expect. Kim's gorgeous and the baby's gorgeous."

Taylor Swift Picks The Most ‘Insane’ Moments On Red Tour… So Far

You'd think that by now Taylor Swift would be used to the swarms of fans packing in to see her perform live, but nothing could prepare her for what happens when you play some of the biggest stadiums across the globe.

Swift says things have been going pretty "amazing" since her Red Tour of the biggest stadiums across the globe kicked off in March, including stops at such huge venues as the Dallas Cowboys Stadium.

When MTV News caught up with Swift at the Fragrance Foundation Awards, where she picked up the award for Best Celebrity Fragrance, the singer recalled the "insane" experience of playing Cowboys Stadium.

"As far as you look there are people. It was just crazy," she said. "We've been doing a lot of stadiums on this tour and every time we play a new stadium, I'm like, that's the highlight of the tour."

And while playing such enormous venues can be intimidating at times, Swift says positive concert reviews from the likes of the New York Times and Rolling Stone help to relieve the pressure. "After Rolling Stone comes to a concert and gives their review, and when they gave their review I was like, 'OK, OK, OK. We're fine,'" she said.

Between her Red tour dates, Swift added that she's ready to start thinking about writing new music. Perhaps we can expect collaboration between Swift and Sheeran? After all, she's since forgiven the singer-songwriter for nearly stabbing her with his .

Next up, Swift and Sheeran will make their way to the West Coast, and wrap up the ...

Kendrick Lamar Planning An ‘Over The Top’ BET Awards Performance?

Kendrick Lamar is heading to the BET Awards with eight nominations, including one for Best Male Hip-Hop Artist, but he's set to hit the stage for a performance too. All of that considered, the Compton MC is only focused on having a good time on Sunday night.

"It's just me enjoying myself, me and my team — the people that support me and my music," Kendrick told MTV News on the ASCAP red carpet Thursday night. "BET, much love to them for acknowledging the talents, so we're gonna enjoy ourselves."

K. Dot made it clear that he wasn't stressing, but simply looking forward to the festivities, even rapping a little bit of French Montana's "Ain't Worried' About Nothin" to prove it!

"I'm just going out there to have fun man," he said. "Ain't nothing to it, ain't nothing over-the-top where I've gotta think about it, so I'm just enjoying myself."

His strategy for getting the best out of the night was pretty simple. "Just really thinking about everybody that blessed that stage, those that came before me and recognize them living in that moment," he revealed. "I'll try my best to live in that moment, because everybody don't get to be on that stage, man. It's a true blessing for me to get to do that."

Kendrick Lamar is also nominated for Best New Artist, Best Collaboration and Video of the Year for "Poetic Justice" (featuring Drake). Other performers at the BET Awards include Nicki Minaj, Chris Brown, Mariah Carey, A$AP Rocky and Justin Timberlake.

Demi Lovato’s ‘Made In The USA’ Celebrates ‘How Far We’ve Come’

Demi Lovato is proud to be an American. To prove it, she's picked the Fourth of July to release her patriotic Demi single,

"Well, it's no coincidence that it's being released before Fourth of July," she said on "Good Morning America" on Friday (June 28). "I just, I'm proud [and] I know it sounds really cheesy, but I'm proud to be an American. And I'm really proud of my country and how far we've come."

(Earlier this week, Lovato showed her support for the Supreme Court's ruling that overturned two laws restricting the rights of same-sex couples. On Wednesday it was ruled that ruled both Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) and California's Proposition 8 were unconstitutional.)

Lovato performed the new track during Friday's appearance on "GMA." Of her latest single, she added, "It's a great love song. It's basically about falling in love in the best country ever."

Demi co-directed the music video for "Made In the USA" and confirmed earlier this week it will be released sometime in July. She will also get into the Fourth of July spirit next Thursday when she performs at VH1's Philly 4th of July Jam along with the Roots and John Mayer.

This was Demi's second appearance on "GMA" this week. On Thursday she opened up about her father, who died last weekend, noting that "it's difficult" handling the loss. She also announced that she'd be starting the Lovato Treatment Scholarship, launched in conjunction with CAST Recovery. It will cover treatment expenses for those struggling with ...

Jay-Z Ponders ‘The Paranoia Of Not Being A Great Dad’ To Blue Ivy

Jay-Z gets deep on a pair of new Magna Carta Holy Grail previews, "Heaven" and "Jay-Z Blue."

In the "Heaven" teaser clip, which premiered late Thursday (June 27), Jay can be seen explaining to producer Rick Rubin that the song "is toying with the idea of [there] being heaven or hell on earth," and the uncertainties that idea raises: "Have you ever been to heaven? Have you ever seen it?" he asks, rhetorically.

"For me, my idea is heaven is in your daughter's laughter; hell could be if your child is missing for three minutes — you're in three minutes of hell," Jay continues, as Rubin nods in agreement. "It's just not my belief that a just God would make you burn or eternity for [the] free will that He gave you."

Earlier in the week, Jay revealed the lyrics for "Heaven," which see him shooting down those Illuminati rumors, and crib a few lines from R.E.M.'s classic "Losing My Religion."

As you can probably infer from its title, the second Magna Carta clip, "Jay-Z Blue" is also inspired by his daughter, though in a completely different manner. On the track, HOV ponders his past, lamenting that his absent dad didn't prepare him for fatherhood or manhood, and, ultimately wondering if he's able to handle the responsibilities of raising his daughter while also maintaining his marriage to Beyoncé.

"[She's] something that we both created; we still marvel at her," Jay beams to Rubin while discussing baby Blue. But then, his mood shifts as he discusses the somber song: "It deals with my ...
