‘White House Down’: The Reviews Are In!

Roland Emmerich already blew up the White House once in "Independence Day." But in "White House Down," his villains have more complicated motives than the destruction of the human race, and they also have a more immediate response team, thanks to Channing Tatum and Jamie Foxx.

In "White House Down," Tatum plays an aspiring secret service agent who teams up with the U.S. President (Foxx) after domestic terrorists invade, you got it, the White House, and try to implement an elaborate plan of retaliation against enemies of the U.S. But how well does the "Independence Day" and "2012" director handle the complexities of public policy in comparison to widespread destruction? MTV News assembled a cross section of reviews from a number of expert voices on the Web.

How Are Foxx And Tatum As The Central Team?
"Foxx has just the right blend of dignity, smarts and affability to make us want to vote for him. Tatum is a consistently likable Everyman who proves his mettle à la Bruce Willis in the 'Die Hard' movies -- with less smirking." — Claudia Puig, USA Today

How Plausible Is The Scenario Depicted In The Movie?
"If the amount of disbelief that needs to be suspended to enjoy this movie could be turned into dollars, it would pay off the national debt with some money left over to buy star Channing Tatum, director Roland Emmerich and screenwriter James Vanderbilt a round of beers." — Kenneth Turan,Los Angeles Times

How Well Does Roland Emmerich's Movie Work As Pure, Dumb Fun?
"Dumb fun is one thing, and I'm ...

Leonardo DiCaprio, Jamie Foxx To Have A ‘Mean’ Reunion In New Movie

Reunited and it feels so mean. Fans of Quentin Tarantino's should be pleased to find out that Jamie Foxx and Leonardo DiCaprio will hit the big screen together again, in what sounds like a very different project.

"Mean Business on North Ganson Street" follows two police officers who team up to solve a string of attacks against the police department in a Missouri town. When the two detectives become targets, they take on the criminals for themselves, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The story is based on the upcoming crime novel by S. Craig Zahler, who will also pen the script. While a director has not been announced, DiCaprio will also produce the film along with his Appian Way production partner Jennifer Davisson Killoran.

The much-buzzed-about "Django Unchained" racked up all kinds of award nominations and wins, including seven MTV Movie Awards nods. Back in April, Foxx went home with a Golden Popcorn for Best WTF Moment along with Samuel L. Jackson.

The news of Foxx's latest role comes on the same day his new action flick, hits theaters. The flick finds Foxx playing the president alongside his pal, Channing Tatum.

Meanwhile, DiCaprio will next play a financial mastermind in Martin Scorsese's new biopic, due out in November. The film, which follows the rise and fall of financial prodigy Jordan Belfort, marks the fifth collaboration between Scorsese and Dicaprio.

Miley Cyrus Is Not ‘A Career-Crazed Kid,’ Director Says

Miley Cyrus shocked plenty of folks when her video premiered last week, but director Diane Martel wasn't worried about the backlash. Because to her, the clip isn't shocking ... it's a statement.

"We set out to make something we would love and we did!" she told MTV News in an email. "I don't see this video as shocking, it's creative."

As Martel explained, several of the video's key scenes — finger cutting, French-fry skulls, furry teddy bear backpacks, etc. — weren't intended to outrage or provoke ... rather, they were carefully selected by the director and her creative team, taken from blogs and pop artists and meant to pay homage to the creative spirit that Cyrus has been channeling on her new music.

And that meant Cyrus was involved with Martel's team every step of the way, because to her, "We Can't Stop" represented a whole lot more than just a comeback; it was personal.

"We spoke a lot and sent photos back and forth; we spoke about her love of her close friends," Martel wrote. "She is not a career-crazed kid. Her music is intensely important to her but so is her social life; [so] we spoke about the joy of tight friendships. To me, she is showing us, the audience, her playful, beautiful self, very freely. [It's] a music video version of what it must be like to bug out and act crazy with her in real life."

And for a director who has worked with fiercely independent artists like Beyonce, Nicki Minaj and Pink, Cyrus' determination definitely ...

Channing Tatum Says Kanye And Kim Should Prepare For A Baby Showdown

If you're going to grill a pair of talented actors during an interview in which they can only answer "yes" or "no," it's hard to do better than Channing Tatum and Jamie Foxx. When MTV News' Josh Horowitz sat down with the "White House Down" stars to discuss their careers, their (very) personal lives and their new film, the two answered as candidly as they could, given their two options.

Tatum and Foxx braved the treacherous waters of After Hours and "The Yes/No Show" and came out on the other side, but not without spilling some secrets along the way, including:

» Channing Tatum on the proper spelling of "G-Y-L-L-E-N-H-A-A-L." (Don't worry, that's a hard one.)

» The current location of the Academy Award nomination unfairly stolen from Jamie Foxx for his role in "Django Unchained."

» Channing's predictions for the eventual Dewan-Tatum baby versus North West showdown.

» The shock revelation about the last time Channing watched pornography.

After Hours wasn't the first time Foxx and Tatum went through a stressful situation together. In "White House Down," Tatum plays John Cale, a wannabe Secret Service agent who is forced to be the real deal when terrorists storm the presidential digs. Foxx plays the president, whom Cale must protect for the future of the country and the safety of his daughter.

Check out everything we've got on "White House Down," out Friday.

Pink Reveals Her Inner Sex Addict In ‘Thanks For Sharing’ Trailer

Bold is a word to describe not only Pink's music, but also her role in the new sex-addiction comedy,

Alecia Moore joins a who's who of skilled Hollywood vets, including Mark Ruffalo, who plays a fellow sex addict, a lingerie-clad Gwyneth Paltrow, Carol Kane, Tim Robbins, "Love and Other Drugs" actor Josh Gad and Joely Richardson.

In the brand-new trailer, fans are getting a glimpse at Moore's acting prowess. The story follows a group of sex addicts trying to balance their addiction and romantic lives. Ruffalo is dating Paltrow, who at one point tries to seduce him in sexy lingerie.

"Isn't that something that guys just say when they're caught cheating?" she wonders when he confesses he has an addiction.

Pink, on the other hand, is attending meetings, which she's billed as "a sausage fest." There's no shortage of quips from the singer in the trailer. "Damn, dude, you just got all Jack Bauer on me!" she tells her pal, played by Gad, when he tries to stop her from from meeting up with her ex.

The film, which is expected to hit theaters later this year, was directed and co-written by "The Kids Are All Right" helmer Stuart Blumberg, who talked to MTV News back in 2011 about Pink's stellar performance.

"[Pink] could not be a more ideal fit for this role," he said. "She carries with her just the right combination of heart and edginess for the part of Dede, and we're incredibly excited to share her acting talent with audiences."

Ed Sheeran Says New Music Coming In ‘January’

Ed Sheeran took to Twitter on Wednesday for an impromptu Q&A session in which he revealed plenty ... including his favorite flavor of Ben & Jerry's (Phish Food), go-to brands of toothpaste (Colgate or Aquafresh) and style of underwear (boxers, since he "needs space to breathe").

More importantly, he also answered a few questions about his music, too. When asked by a fan when we'd get to hear something off his long-in-the-works follow-up to + — you know, the one he's previously said would either be a or find him channeling his inner — Sheeran replied, rather matter-of-factly, "January."

It's not known if January is also when Sheeran plans on releasing his new album, though in recent interviews, he's said that the disc will be out "early next year" and that he plans on spending October, November and December plotting its release. A spokesperson for his label, Atlantic Records, did not respond to MTV News' request for comment on the matter by press time.

Sheeran also said that, though he's been spending plenty of time in the U.S. in recent months as the opening act on Taylor Swift's seemingly endless Red tour, he's "definitely not" planning on moving to the States on a permanent basis (there was no update, however, on whether we'd ever get to hear the Swift song he has ).

And, reflecting back on his rather rapid rise to fame, Sheeran answered a fan's question about his 2010 Loose Change EP, admitting that it represents a bleak period in his life, but ...

Will Channing Tatum, Jamie Foxx Go On Tour After Viral Vid?

Jamie Foxx and Channing Tatum are building their box-office clout with "White House Down," a surefire crowd-pleaser that should have moviegoers jumping out of their seats. But the actors told MTV that they're especially excited about their other collaborative effort — a musical one which kicked off with the recent unveiling of the single "(I Wanna) Channing All Over Your Tatum," a song they debuted after the Oscars on "Jimmy Kimmel Live."

"It was just fun," Foxx told MTV News' Josh Horowitz during the press day for "White House Down." "And that's what people like to see, people having fun. And we're going to reboot the song and put some real things on that joint."

Last week, the song got a video treatment with Gabourey Sidibe, Olivia Munn and Miley Cyrus.

Tatum revealed bigger plays for their musical misadventures. "We're going to start touring," he confessed. "We're going to start off in Laos."

In "White House Down," Foxx and Tatum share the screen in almost every scene, playing the U.S. President (Foxx) and an aspiring secret service agent (Tatum) who tries to protect the Commander-In-Chief from terrorists. Tatum explained that the two shared a comfortable relationship off screen as well. "We're both from the South. I liked his whole crew," he said. "And it's just nice — it feels like home. It's comfy."

Although Tatum more than showed his stuff in "Magic Mike," when asked how well he would fare in protecting Foxx if asked to do so during their interview, he insisted he could handle anything — but then again, ...
