Governors Ball ‘100 Happening’ Despite Threat Of Tropical Storm Andrea

Despite the threat of a possible fly-over by the remnants of Hurricane Andrea on Saturday, organizers of the Governors Ball Music Festivals on New York's Randall's Island say all systems are go for the event. The three-day festival featuring headlining sets from Kanye West, Kings of Leon and Guns N' Roses, kicked off on Friday (June 7) and runs through Sunday night.

A spokesperson for the event confirmed to MTV News that as of press time the show would go on, rain or shine, but said a staffer was not available to speak about the weather action plan. Spokespeople for the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation and the Randall's Island Park Alliance did not return calls for comment at press time.

By the time it hits the New York area, Andrea's winds are predicted to drop below 50 m.p.h., but the threat of coastal flooding remains due to an expected 3-4 inches of precipitation.

Among the headlining acts whose sets could be impacted on Saturday are Guns N' Roses (who played ...

Eminem, Big Sean Brew Their ‘Similar Tales’ Into A ‘Detroit Classic’

Big Sean graduates to the Hall of Fame on his upcoming sophomore album, and one of the privileges that follows major career progress is earning the opportunity to record with the artists you idolized growing up. Sean got that chance when he hit the studio with hometown hero Eminem in April, only to find out that he and Shady had a lot in common.

Sean told MTV News that, at this point, it's to be determined whether the song will end up on his own project, Eminem's upcoming eighth album or neither. But one thing's for sure: "Big Sean and Eminem? It's gotta be a Detroit classic."

The G.O.O.D. Music rapper is confident that the collaboration will be one for the history books, but it wasn't only the music that made their recording session a memorable one. "Being in the studio, I just remembered when my mom bought me his [first] album from Costco or something a long-ass time ago, so you could just imagine going from that moment — being a lil-ass boy — then fast forwarding 20 years later and being in the studio with him," he explained.

"We talked for a few hours before we even worked on music. I was telling him my stories about how we were performing all around downtown Detroit and [it turned out that] he was performing in the same places."

Though Sean is still early in his career compared to Eminem's decade-plus run, the two found that they'd already shared many similar experiences. "It was funny because every story I told ...

Mac Miller, Most Dope Crew Pray For DJ Clockwork’s Funny Raps: Watch Now!

Maybe Mac Miller needs to have just a little more faith in his Most Dope team — after all; he isn't the only one with rap talent.

In a special unreleased clip from MTV2's Mac leads a prayer circle with Q, Dave, Peanut, Jimmy and DJ Clockwork, praying that Clock comes up with a suitable rhyme for a song that they were working on.

"Dear God, thank you for bringing us all here today in good health and good spirits," Mac said to start the prayer. "Please allow Clock to come up with something interesting. Please allow him to go in there and really, really put his soul into this song."

"It was a Most Dope song that Mac was producing and then we all rapped over it. They were all praying that I would have a good verse," Clock told MTV News of the clip that was just released on MacMiller.MTV.com. "It's all just us cutting up, having a good time. Fun rap, it ain't no crazy sh--. They're always just cuttin' up on me and sh--."

Ultimately, Clock says that he laid the verse on the unreleased song and it met Mac's high stands. Since then, the DJ has continued to dabble in rap. Back in March, Clock, Jimmy and Peanut dropped their first comedic mixtape as the Duck Hunters. The Duck Butter Vol.1 tape consists of eight goofy tracks. On Monday, they came out with the video for "Scoter (Wetwalls)," a filthy ode to sex.

Alley Boy’s New Mixtape Is A War Cry From The Streets

Alley Boy specializes in street music, and it doesn't seem the Atlanta rhyme-dealer will switch up much. If you were wondering what you can expect from his latest War Cry tape, all you have to do is revisit Alley's underground discography, which includes works like the raw N---anati, and the uncut Purgatory.

"This just a continuation for all the Alley Boy fans," he told Mixtape Daily about War Cry, which was released online for free Monday.

Before Alley fully gets on his mission, he reminds listeners of his discography on the tape's "Intro": "Dropped Purgatory, street classic/ Alley Boy just getting started/ Definition Pt. 2, we might torture who raised you," he rhymes in his distinct Southern drawl.

During the course of the tape, the Duct Tape Entertainment standout remains confrontational. On "Hate in Dey Face," he goes directly at those who dis him behind his back, but greet him with smiles. On "Mama's House," he links up with his DTE partner Trouble and threatens to bring the drama straight to his adversaries, even if it means camping out in front of their mother's home. "I'ma pull on ya mama, bird ass/ I heard you changed your whole number/ This n---a wanna hide the whole summer/ Green ass n---a, you sorry, you're a cucumber," he flows.

It isn't all murderous, however. On "I'm That," Alley Boy recruits Kirko Bangz to give him a radio-ready Auto-Tuned hook over a choice Key Wane beat, and then he gets introspective and emotional on "Love You," which draws inspiration from Alex Clare's hit "Too Close." ...

Muse Took Inspiration From ‘World War Z’ To Make The 2nd Law

If Muse's end-of-days epic The 2nd Law seems custom-made for Brad Pitt's upcoming apoca-flick ... well, that's intentional. As it turns out, frontman Matthew Bellamy was engrossed with Max Brooks' novel (which the film is based on) while he and his bandmates were recording.

"When we were making the album, I was reading the book 'World War Z,' so it was kind of ideal. I didn't know about anything about the film at that time; I was just reading it because somebody told me it was a great book," he told MTV News. "And the album's got a lot of themes about the apocalypse, the end of the world, surviving in bleak circumstances ... it was just a lovely coincidence that we had these tracks that are inspired by the book."

Pitt also noticed that connection, and reached out to the band to have them contribute a pair of songs to the "World War Z" soundtrack. After years of searching for a signature theme, he finally found what was looking for on The 2nd Law.

"Two years ago, we wanted to find -- remember the theme from 'The Exorcist'? It's called 'Tubular Bells,' " he said. "We wanted to find something like that. At the same time, these guys were reading the book, unbeknownst to us, and were fans of the book. They wrote the album ... [and] on it, we found the song, 'The 2nd Law,' that we thought was exactly what we were looking for for the film. It just kind of worked out in a nice, kismet ...

J. Cole Reveals Hurt On ‘Let Nas Down’ At Born Sinner Stream

NEW YORKJ. Cole didn't necessarily visualize the listening session for his sophomore album being held in a movie theater, but the Roc Nation rapper was pleased that he'd succeeded in getting fans and media to stream Born Sinner in its entirety — uninterrupted and without the chatter — Thursday night at the SVA theater in New York.

Attendees were asked to download the Lisnr app and plug in with a pair of Beats by Dre Studio headphones so they could hear the album exactly the way Cole does during production. Though the Born Sinner stream was scheduled to begin simultaneously in eight cities, Cole needed to get something off his chest first. Fans were clamoring to hear his collaboration with Kendrick Lamar on "Forbidden Fruit," but it was the track "Let Nas Down" that required a 15-minute explanation, during which Cole did his best to make "a long story short."

The tale began in 2009 when he was rolling off the success of The Warm Up and celebrating his new deal with Roc Nation. Dropping an album seemed easy enough, but as Cole toured with Hov, watching him perform hits like "Big Pimpin'" — "The way that moved the crowd every night ... I wanted one so bad," he said — he began a torturous journey to find his album's lead single, which lead him to some real career lows.

Though the pain in his story was obvious, Cole had a sense of humor as he explained Jay-Z's reactions when he presented him with single options like "Who ...

LMFAO's Sky Blu is back and just as ready to have you fist pumping the night away, even if he is one member short. After the party-rocking duo officially went on hiatus last fall, Sky headed into the studio to begin work on his solo effort. And, now he's ready to give the world his Rebel Music.

Listen to Sky Blu's "I Want To Party" now!

"It is called Rebel Music, and it kind of just describes the theme of my life up until this point right now," the 26-year-old said about his July album release. "And I think it's just very appropriate for the time I'm in in my life right now. There was definitely titles that actually fit this project that I really loved, but I guess they were too risqué for me to do."

He continued, "I'm somebody [that] is a habitual line stepper, that likes to push the envelope and it excites me. So without saying too much, I think Rebel Music really just kind of sets the tone for how I'm putting this record out, 'cause it's coming out for free for the world. This is my album ... Me and my boy Mark Rosas [who appears on this single 'Pop Bottles'] worked really hard on this record alongside a few other people. And I can't wait for the people to hear. It's just ...
