Chance The Rapper’s Brother, Taylor Bennett, Charged With Battery After Party Assault

Chance the Rapper’s younger brother, Taylor Bennett, has been working hard on his music career over the past year, dropping off gems like “New Chevy.” But now the 18-year-old Chicago resident has some legal trouble to deal with.

According to DNAinfo Chicago, Bennett and his friend Jake Kalmin attended a party in Chicago back on September 28, where the rapper reportedly assaulted another man who was drunk and accidentally stepped on his foot.

Prosecutors claim that other party goers captured cell phone footage of Taylor Bennett and Jake Kalmin as they kicked, punched and stomped on the man, leaving him bleeding as they quickly left the party.

Bennett turned himself into police last Thursday, and was charged with aggravated battery for causing great bodily harm. He and and Kalmin were held on $75,000 bond.

The 19-year-old victim received surgical staples in his head and he was treated for bleeding in his brain, a fracture in his skull and now suffers from headaches and a speech impediment, according to prosecutors.

Bennett’s camp has not issued a public statement about the incident.
