Chrissy Teigen Gets Models Dirty On New Reality Series

We all know Drake’s “Started from the Bottom” tells the back story of the Young Money rapper’s life. But who’d have thought Drizzy’s musical biography could serve as the premise for VH1’s new TV series as well?

In the reality competition “Model Employee,” eight pampered models battle it out for the chance to become the face of The Mandalay Bay Hotel & Casino. Unlike other modeling shows such as “America’s Next Top Model” or “The Face,” “Model Employee” has a twist.

In order to represent the brand, their potential employer wants the contestants to understand the company inside and out. And to do so, the ladies are tested each week by having to perform an entry-level job which is mandatory for the Mandalay Bay to function from day-to-day.

“I think they kind of come out there thinking that they are going to be doing modeling challenges,” the show’s supermodel host Chrissy Teigen told MTV News regarding the contestants. “But no, we put them to the test, like they are doing all the dirty jobs. And it hilarious because they’re not used to it, they’re models.”

From cleaning the Shark Reef Aquarium — “That one ends up being totally about periods,” Teigen laughed — to sifting through the garbage for recyclables — “There’s condoms mixed with hamburgers; it’s so freaking gross” — the ladies aren’t only shocked, but they’re unprepared for the tasks.

“The first [episode] is really great because you actually see fear in their eyes,” Teigen explains. “[They] have to clean a banquet room, [which] seems so minor, right? But these girls are like ew, you’re so disgusting.”

Teigen loves playing “Tyra,” she said, and even though she isn’t getting her hands dirty functioning as the show’s host, the Sports Illustrated swimsuit model has no doubts that she would dominate if she were a contestant.

“If the tables were turned, I 1,000 percent would have won this thing,” Teigen said. “I think I would’ve done a great job at it, because at times, there were moments where I was very jealous at what the girls were getting to do. I think it would be fun and plus, I would come in much more prepared then they were. Obviously they had no idea but hindsight is 20/20 but I would kill that show.”

Don’t miss the premiere of “Model Employee” airing Wednesday at 10:30 p.m. ET on VH1!
