Daft Punk Nab Second Week At #1 On Billboard Albums Chart

The robots reign once again. Daft Punk tops the Billboard albums chart for a second consecutive week, as their Random Access Memories sold nearly 93,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Last week, the dynamic duo posted the year’s second-biggest debut, moving an impressive 339,000 copies of RAM to claim their first-ever #1 album in the U.S. This week, that number wasn’t quite as high, but it was enough to easily outpace Alice In Chains’ The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here, which opens at #2 with sales of more than 61,000 copies.

John Fogerty’s Wrote a Song For Everyone debuts at #3, with sales of nearly 51,00 copies, followed by British pop act Little Mix, who sold nearly 50,000 copies of their DNA album. Blake Shelton rounds out the Top 5 with his Based on a True Story, which sold nearly 42,000 copies.

Darius Rucker’s True Believers is in at #6, selling nearly 41,000 copies, followed by the “Great Gatsby” soundtrack at #7 (more than 36,000 copies sold), Imagine DragonsNight Visions at #8 (nearly 33,000 copies) and Justin Timberlake‘s The 20/20 Experience at #9 (nearly 31,000 copies). Vampire Weekend close out the Top 10 with Modern Vampires of the City, which sold nearly 29,000 copies.

Outside the Top 10, the-Dream‘s IV Play failed to deliver the goods, debuting at #16, with sales of 22,000 copies, and a pair of rock acts took big tumbles down the chart: The National’s Trouble Will Find Me slips from #3 to #20, and Thirty Seconds To MarsLOVE LUST FAITH + DREAMS drops from #6 all the way down to #34.

Next week’s chart will see debuts from the likes of Ashanti, Queens of the Stone Age and Portugal. The Man … meaning that Daft Punk’s run at #1 should extend to a third week.

Things are a little less static over on the Digital Songs Chart, as there’s a new #1 — Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines,” which jumps up from #3, after selling more than 229,000 downloads — and a new #2: 2 Chainz’s “We Own It (Fast & Furious),” which rises all the way from #19 with sales of 208,000 downloads (a 138 percent increase over last week). Florida Georgia Line’s “Cruise” is in at #3, with 196,000 downloads.

Daft Punk’s collaboration with Pharrell, “Get Lucky” moves up to #4, with 190,000 downloads, followed by last week’s #1 song, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’ “Can’t Hold Us,” which falls to #5. Imagine Dragons’ “Radioactive” is up to #6, with 159,000 downloads, just slightly ahead of Selena Gomez’s “Come & Get It,” in at #7 with 158,000 downloads. Pink’s “Just Give Me a Reason” falls to #8, Blake Shelton’s “Boys ‘Round Here” is up to #9, and Justin Timberlake’s “Mirrors” closes out the digital top 10 with 131,000 downloads.
