She’s back! That’s right — Dianna Agron will return to McKinley High for the 100th episode of “Glee.”
Show creator Ryan Murphy confirmed the news on Thursday (December 5) via Twitter. Agron, who played Quinn on the long-running sitcom, joins alums Heather Morris (Brittany S. Pierce), Harry Shum Jr. (Mike), Amber Riley (Mercedes) and Mark Salling (Puck) on the episode, airing March 18 on Fox. Occasional “Glee” actress and Broadway star Kristin Chenoweth will also make a cameo.
The episode, likely to be graduation themed, will also include 10 songs voted on by fans. The campaign, billed as “Glee 100th Gleeks Choice: You Vote. We Remix,” closed out Tuesday. The 30 tracks in the running included “Bad Romance,” “Forget You,” “Like a Prayer” and “Toxic.”
Agron, along with the rest of the returning crew, had been phased out of the show at the end of season four. Shum, Riley and Salling all made an appearance on the show during the Cory Monteith tribute episode, “The Quarterback,” which aired back in October. Agron, whose character Quinn had a one-time, onscreen relationship with Monteith’s Finn, was noticeably absent from the emotional episode.
She addressed her absence from the episode in an interview with The Irish Independent last month, dismissing any gossip that she wasn’t invited to appear. “Bad news spreads faster than anything good. And I think it’s just such a shame, especially involving someone that we love so much, that the good old Internet has taken everything that they want to say about it and spread it like wildfire,” she said.
“I’ve nothing but love for that show and everybody involved in it, and it was such a huge part of my life,” she added. “I think it’s equally hard when I’m not there every day anymore, I don’t see all of them every day anymore to have things like this fly around. It’s more heartbreaking than it would be if I was there with everybody. It makes me feel even farther away from our show.”
