Justin Bieber Unveils ‘Heartbreaker’ Art, Says New Single ‘Coming Soon’

Wondering what the next chapter for Justin Bieber might be sound like? Well, late Monday night, the pop star had this message for his fans: “Heartbreaker #Justinbiebernewsingle.”

There’s no further information about when fans might hear the new tune, but Bieber did offer up some more clues on Instagram, adding, “Tell a friend to tell a friend,” “Don’t tell me your my #justinbieber #heartbreaker” and, most importantly, “Coming soon.” The song could potentially be the first single off his “music journal.”

The singer also posted the artwork for the song on Instagram. It features a purple heart, crumbling, with a Cupid icon shooting an arrow at it.

While Bieber has been taking some time off in between legs of his Believe Tour, he recently shared on Twitter that he’s “been excited about the music.” Just last week, Bieber’s manager, Scooter Braun, tweeted, “Just got a tracklisting of the first #musicjournal. thanks @justinbieber.”

A release date has not been set for the album, but Braun told MTV News back in April that the singer has been cooking it up since last year, when he kicked off his globe-trotting tour. “I don’t ever disclose what our plans are,” Braun shared, “but I will say this: He’s been writing one to two songs a day for the entire tour, and he actually labels them by the city he writes them in.

“We started calling it his ‘music journal,’ and we’re talking about what should come next musically,” he added. “And I think, creatively, he just wants to share all his thoughts through music.”

The music journal project follows up Bieber’s 2012 album, Believe, which spawned the singles “Boyfriend,” “As Long As You Love Me” and “Beauty and a Beat.” He also re-released and re-imagined a number of those songs for the 2013 release Believe Acoustic, which featured several new cuts.

Da Internz, who worked with Bieber on the Acoustic album, told MTV News the 19-year-old has what it takes to transition his career into his twenties and beyond. “I think Justin is definitely on the verge of turning a corner,” Ernest “Tuo” Clark said in February. “A lot of young acts have that problem transitioning from being a kid to an adult and kind of when they turn into an adult, things fall off. But, so far … Justin, the sky’s the limit. He’s one of the top pop dudes in the game.”
