Justin Timberlake Brings Surprise Guest To New York Show … And It’s Not Jay-Z!

Before embarking on his Legends of the Summer stadium tour with Jay-Z, Justin Timberlake gave fans a sneak peek at what’s to come at a New York City concert on Sunday night.

For the first time in more than six years, the “Suit and Tie” crooner played a full set at the Roseland Ballroom. While most of the audience expected Timberlake to start things off with something from The 20/20 Experience, JT and his Tennessee Kids had something else in mind. Instead of playing new material, the 32-year-old began the evening with a throwback from his debut album, Justified.

Rocking a tuxedo and untied bowtie, he greeted the crowd by yelling, “Make some noise, New York City,” then jumping right into his 2002 hit “Like I Love You.” From there, Timberlake treated concertgoers to the FutureSex/LoveSounds track “My Love” and a mash-up of “Cry Me a River” featuring Juicy J’s “Bandz a Make Her Dance” and Jay-Z and Kanye West’s “Paris.”

“Is anyone drunk yet?” Timberlake asked the audience before playing “Pusher Love Girl,” the first track on The 20/20 Experience. “Well, good for you,” he laughed.

Throughout the rest of the show, JT indulged fans with a mix of favorites from his solo career, sprinkling in covers of INXS’ “Need You Tonight” and the Jacksons’ “Shake Your Body (Down to the Ground).” But it wasn’t until after he ended the night with “Mirrors” and “Suit & Tie” that fans received the biggest surprise of all.

Just as everyone thought the show had wrapped, JT took the stage one last time for an encore performance. With him he brought a red Solo cup as well as longtime collaborator Timbaland. Naturally, the audience went wild, with no doubt in anyone’s mind regarding which song the duo would sing: “SexyBack.”

JT’s Legends of the Summer stadium tour kicks off in July.
