Miley Cyrus Is ‘A Self-Proclaimed Party Animal’ … And Proud Of It

Miley Cyrus has been putting Hannah Montana behind her for years now, though on Monday, she made her most mature move yet, with the premiere of her all-grown-up party jam

As if that song’s pro-party sentiments and electro-pop leanings didn’t make the point abundantly clear, well, Miley is all grown up. Though, as she explained to MTV’s cameras on the day of her single’s debut, “We Can’t Stop” is less about a reinvention as it is a revolution: She’s getting ready to launch the next phase of her already amazing career; and she’s doing it on her terms.

“Moms, they remember their daughters watching [‘Hannah Montana’], and kids remember watching the show, but that’s not who they think I am,” Cyrus explained. “I’ve done so much on my own, like putting out my twerk video … the biggest thing people say to me is ‘I love that you don’t care what people think.’ And I don’t; I can take all the constructive criticism in the world, and … of course I want people to love my music, but at the end of the day, I make music for me. I make music because I love it and I put good energy into it, so it will be all good.”

And though she may no longer be the Disney princess, there’s one thing Cyrus has kept from her past: an unparalleled work ethic, one that will surely be put to the test as she begins promoting her new album. But she’s ready … after all, “We Can’t Stop” may be all about celebration, but Cyrus is prepared to put in work, too.

“People think of me as a party animal, which I am a self-proclaimed party animal,” she laughed. “But I also am the hardest-working person you’ll ever know.”
