2 Chainz isn’t closing the chapter on his “Based On A Tru Story” series anytime soon. The saga continues with his upcoming album “B.O.A.T.S. III,” and it will stretch out far beyond that.
“When I signed with DTP Records, I remember Ludacris wanted to give me my check,” Chainz said, recalling his first record deal. “I didn’t have a bank account because that was my first job, so he had to give me my bank account, like — fool I can’t just give you no money.’ So [“B.O.A.T.S”] is just a healthy timeline of how I’ve grown and of the things I try to embody, [like] the city of Atlanta.”
“I finished school,” he continued. “A lot of people talkin’ about how they dropped out and made it, well I went to school and made it, but I still have that ratchett style. So there’s just a few elements [of 2 Chainz] in there.”
After the Super Bowl on Sunday, 2 Chainz posted photos of himself partying it up with Cam’Ron, Juelz Santana and Dame Dash. He wouldn’t admit to a collaboration with Dipset just yet, only saying that he might “get some work done.”
“At the end of the day I’m really fans of these guys and I acknowledge that,” he said. “I see Dame and I just be trippin’ like — ‘You’re Dame! Forget what you talkin’ bout, this is Champagne Dame!'”
2 Chainz is currently out on the road for his 2 G.O.O.D. 2 Be Tru tour with Pusha T, August Alsina and Cap 1, so it’ll be awhile until B.O.A.T.S. III arrives, but in the meantime he just dropped the new single “Ima Dog.”
