Tony Stark’s having a party. Didn’t you get the invitation?
New information about “The Avengers: Age of Ultron” reveals that ol’ Shellhead’s throwing a shindig, designed to help Earth’s mightiest heroes shmooze with some bigwigs. Outside of the core Avengers squad, there are plenty of Marvel Cinematic Universe characters we hope to see at Tony’s party — especially considering we know that James “Rhodey” Rhodes, aka War Machine, will definitely be in attendance.
Aside from the Avengers and War Machine, here are the 21 people we want to see at Tony’s grand gathering at Avengers Tower:
1. Pepper Potts
If Rhodey’s in town, Pepper can’t be far behind. Not cool to invite the best pal but leave the loved one behind — and Tony Stark doesn’t do “not cool.”
2. Sam Wilson
If best friends are tagging along as plus ones, then there’s no one better for Captain America to bring along than the Falcon — although he might want to keep an eye on his stars and stripes.
3. Peggy Carter
There’s no better time for that last dance.
4. Phil Coulson
Everyone thinks he’s dead, but he’s not, as “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” fans are well aware. What better opportunity than Tony Stark’s Avengers party to come out and surprise the people who thought they saw him die?
5. Hank Pym
He’s not the designer of Ultron in the movies, but he is the designer of Ultron in the comics; a Tony Stark party presence would be a nice wink and nod to the first Ultron inventor. Besides, with “Ant-Man” coming up just a few weeks after “Avengers,” this would be a great opportunity to set things up with a Michael Douglas cameo.
6, 7 and 8. The Warriors Three
Word on the street is Thor and Jane Foster aren’t an item, so why not bring some of his bros to the party to take his mind off things? Just keep Volstagg away from the buffet table, ’cause he’ll eat everything in sight.
9. T’Challa
The King of Wakanda has yet to make his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut, and it’s likely he won’t until his very own feature film. But if Marvel wants to set up the Black Panther early, there are few better ways to do it than by having him tag along as a guest at Stark’s soiree.
10. Carol Danvers
Likewise with the woman better known as Captain Marvel. It’s just a matter of time before Danvers gets her own movie; why not set her up as one of Tony’s guests?
11. Stephen Strange
Likewise, still, with the Sorcerer Supreme. He was already name checked in “Captain America: The Winter Soldier.” Let’s take that one step further by bringing him into party pool.
12. Thunderbolt Ross
The mustache-twirling military man has no love for Bruce Banner, but he seems to be pals with Tony Stark, based on the ending of “The Incredible Hulk.” Now that Tony and Bruce are Science Bros., maybe Stark can help smooth things over between the two enemies.
13. Peter Parker
Never going to happen, but man would that be cool.
14. Wolverine
Also never going to happen. Also would be cool.
15. The Shawarma People
Someone’s gotta cater this shindig, right?
16. Loki
In disguise, of course. Wouldn’t want to alert anyone to the fact that he’s free from prison, let alone alive.
17, 18, 19, 20 and 21. The Guardians of the Galaxy
It’s never too early to get Groot to the party.
