First things first, let’s make it clear that we’re fully and totally aware that the “Harry Potter” books are fictional. J.K. Rowling made them up! The movies that are based on the books are also made up.
That said, we think that Emma Watson might actually be magic for real. No, really! She’s fantastic. If she was starring in the new “Potter” spin-off, it would have to be called “Fantastic Emma Watsons and Where To Find Them.” In fact, we may just take that idea for ourselves. Because, guys: she’s great.
Ahead, 27 things that make us totally obsessed with Emma Watson and support our theory that she’s actually magic.
1. She literally laughs in the face of sexism.
A United Nations Women’s ambassador, Watson posted this defiant instagram in response to a Turkish politician forbidding women from laughing in public.
2. She withstood Hurricane JLaw.
That’s not a facesmash a mere mortal could survive.
3. But is too classy to pretend she’s her.
4. She went to college even though she never has to do anything she ever doesn’t want to do.
And finished.
5. Yes, she’s actually super smart.
“Everyone’s taking the piss at me because I did really well at my exams,” Watson told IGN on the set of “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.” “It’s been a bit of an ongoing joke the past couple of weeks, but I think it’s a compliment.”
6. She’s environmentally conscious.
Girlfriend bought a Prius with that “Potter” money at age 19. She refers to herself as the “Prius of my peer group” and said her friends make fun of her ride. “To be fair, it’s not the prettiest car on the road, but it’s good for the environment. It’s sensible and boring—like me.”
7. She doesn’t play favorites.

In a chat with Interview magazine, Watson refused to name her favorite director: “Well, I shouldn’t say I have a favorite director—that wouldn’t be very diplomatic. But one of the people I enjoyed working with most was Alfonso Cuarón. I have a real thing for Mexican directors.”
8. She is aware of her babyface.
9. She may or may not be psychic.
In the same Interview talk, Watson said that from the beginning, she knew she was going to get the role of Hermione, which really worried her parents given the thousands of girls up for the part. “They were trying to make me stay realistic, but I wasn’t having any of it,” Watson said. “I was going to get that part. This is a sweet thing: My dad did a roast on a Sunday, and he gave me the wishbone, and I obviously made the wish that I would get this role. I still have that wishbone upstairs in my jewelry box.”
10. She doesn’t forget her roots.
Yeah girl.
11. She loves to paint.
Watson isn’t just into the acting part of the arts — she’s also a painter who told Interview she’s influenced by Jenny Saville, Egon Schiele, Gustav Klimt, and Francis Bacon. “I guess I’m a little shy about my art, but I love painting people and expressions and faces. I’ve always done art, though not a lot of people know it.”
12. She admits to her guilty pleasures.
In an interview with Rookie, Watson admitted that even she’s not the undistractable force some see her as. While studying for her exams, she let slip that she binge-watched while studying. “The only thing I have been watching—such a guilty pleasure, it’s the perfect study break ’cause you just don’t have to concentrate too hard—is ‘The Carrie Diaries.’”
13. She’s meme-able and she knows it.
14. She gets teen angst, even if you don’t think she does.
While describing to Rookie why she felt so strongly that “The Perks of Being a Wallflower” needed to be made, she acknowledged that some people may think she skipped right over the awkward teen stage.
“I think the person that people imagine me to be is someone who hasn’t gone through a lot of the issues that are talked about in the movie,” Watson said. “When people see me, I’m on the red carpet, perfectly dressed and styled, after two hours of hair and makeup. I’m putting on a show. So when I explain that I have moments when I feel dark or insecure, I understand how it might not really ring true, because there’s this weird double-life thing I have going on.”
15. She enlists friends to help her get ready for big events.
16. She’s a journal fiend.
“I must have 10 different personal diaries: I keep a dream diary, I keep a yoga diary, I keep diaries on people that I’ve met and things that they’ve said to me, advice that they’ve given me,” she told Rookie. “I keep an acting journal. I keep collage books. They’ve given me a place where I can try to figure myself out, because those kinds of ideas feel too personal to put out into the public or even discuss with anyone else.”
17….But she’s not totally highbrow.
18. She wasn’t always an It Girl.
Watson attempted to juggle acting and school for a long time while filming the “Potter” movies. In particular, she recalled to Rookie an uncomfortable moment when her two worlds collided: “I remember when I was young, getting ready to go to a ‘Lord of the Rings’ premiere, and literally getting changed in my school’s toilet. It’s just really surreal and odd. You feel quite vulnerable.”
19. Her sass to class ratio is off the charts.
20. She doesn’t make movies for the paycheck.
“I’ll do whatever as long as I can be part of someone else’s creative vision, someone who isn’t just creating something as a piece of entertainment, but is genuinely creating a piece of art,” Watson told Rookie. “Though it’s nice if it’s commercially successful at the same time.”
21. She has a wild side.
She recently bragged to the Mirror that she had broken into a hotel swimming pool at 3 a.m. with friends. “It was at a hotel, it had a gate around it. My friends turned around and basically I was gone.” she said. “The next thing they saw was me 7ft up in the air, scaling this fence.”
22. She’s not afraid to laugh at her own expense.
23. She can drop a Beyonce ref with the best of them.
24. She still goes to the movies, and will own you if you’re rude.
We don’t think she’s messing around.
25. She’s a yoga instructor!
Watson found a still place in the midst of her crazy life, and got certified to teach yoga and meditation. “I was like ‘I need to find a way to always feel safe and at home within myself’,” she told ABC. “Because I can never rely on a physical place.”
26. She can get meta with her method.
In preparation for “The Bling Ring,” Watson started a Tumblr account as her character, Nikki. (The page is no longer active and another user snagged the URL.) She even had a tacky Zebra background with watermarks, unreadable text and requisite Lohan worship. It’s art.
27. Is she a witch, or what?
Yes, totally. Emma Watson is magic.
Yep.
