3 Rihanna Costumes To Try For Halloween If You’re A Bad Gal

Despite not releasing a new album—boo!!—Rihanna was omnipresent through 2014. As Rihanna put it, “Bad gals just wanna have fun” and dressing up as Riri is probably the most fun you can have on Halloween. We managed to distill Rihanna’s year down to three momentous (and costume-worthy) events: when she wore a completely sheer dress, when she changed all her social media icons to a stick figure, and when she quit Instagram (R.I.P.). Our suggestions are below—check ‘em out, bad gals of the world.

Rihanna: CFDA Fashion Icon

Rihanna, Halloween CostumesAmerican Apparel/Urban Outfitters/Consumer Crafts/Overstock/Trendy Halloween

+ Leggings: American Apparel cotton spandex jersey leggings ($28)
+ Tank: American Apparel cotton spandex jersey bra-cami ($21)
+ Rhinestones: Round crystal AB rhinestones ($19)
+ Glue: Aleene’s No-Sew Fabric Glue ($2)
+ Stole: Vintage Hollywood faux mink stole ($29)
+ Gloves: Elbow-length floral print lace gloves ($6)

If you want to do this costume really authentically, you could just glue rhinestones to your naked body. Since you probably want some sort of clothing to keep you marginally warm, though—Halloween is basically in November, y’know?—a sheer dress + rhinestones + nude leggings + shirt = acceptable alternative. DON’T wear a bodysuit unless you want to never go to the bathroom.

Rihanna’s Instagram Icon

Rihanna, Halloween CostumeOffice Supply/Office Supply Inc./American Apparel/Forever 21

+ Leggings: Favorite capri leggings in white ($4)
+ T-Shirt: Baby rib long sleeve T ($21)
+ Poster: White poster board ($2)
+ Tape: COSCO Art Tape ($1)

This costume only requires that you can fashion a stick figure from tape and are cool with either wearing a mask or tape on your face all night. Extra points for the pink iteration.

Bonus: if you use glow-in-the-dark tape, this could be you.

Tombstone For Badgalriri

Rihanna, Halloween CostumeSharpie/Blick/Staples/Papermart

+ Paper: Bick flannel gray board ($7)
+ Ribbon: Woven-in wired satin ribbon ($5)
+ Sharpie: Sharpie Chisel ($2)
+ Scissors: Westcott non-stick scissors ($9)

And, finally, you can show your respect to Rih’s once perfect, now defunct, Instagram account. Draw a tombstone on the board, fasten on the ribbon to hang it from your neck, and done. R.I.P. @badgalriri (March 2, 2012 – May 5, 2014).
