Why is this the #1 YA adaptation of all time? To paraphrase the Dread Pirate Roberts, “There’s a shortage of perfect movies in the world… It would be a shame to damage this one.” Romantic, funny and exciting; there’s not a bad moment in the feature, with classic performances that will last a lifetime. It helps that veteran screenwriter William Goldman adapted his own book, but Rob Reiner’s direction — including one of the most memorable sword fights in film history — make this a classic.
