Are y’all ready to feel old? Yesterday–exactly 10 years ago–Laguna Beach premiered its first-ever episode on MTV. That’s right: in 2004, Lauren Conrad, Kristin Cavallari, Stephen Colletti, Lo Bosworth, and the rest of their Cali crew bravely broadcast their teenage lives for the entire world to see, but TBH, us style nerds could only focus on one thing: THOSE. OUTFITS. You might remember tons of mid-2000s mini skirts, halters, and capris, but looking back, we realized we’d actually still wear some of these trends today. Seriously! Check out 8 Laguna Beach looks we’d totally sport in 2014.
CHOKERS
MTV
Wowowow. This whole K-Cav outfit is speaking to us so hard. In case you haven’t been around humans/on Tumblr in the last few years, the ’90s are back in full force, and chokers are making a serious comeback. This summer goth look is absolute perfection, and, dang, are we even loving her frosted lip?! #confused #halp
BACKWARDS SNAPBACKS
MTV
Man, we thought we were cool for rockin’ the snapback since 2012, but it looks like Stephen totally had us beat back in ’05.
SHIRTS TIED AROUND THE WAIST
Michael Muller/MTV
OK, so our 2014 version of shirts-around-the-waist trend is definitely more grunge and less preppy (as seen on Jared Leto!), but we gotta give it up to Lo for being 10 years ahead of her time.
OFF-THE-SHOULDER TOPS
MTV
Yep, we’d totally wear LC’s ’90s-inspired off-the-shoulder top RN, but, you know, minus the trucker hat. OK, all three trucker hats.
PLASTIC GLASSES
MTV
Do we even need to explain this one? See: all of Brooklyn.
DENIM JACKETS
MTV
Lucky for us (and everyone), distressed denim jackets still haven’t gone out of style. Honestly, if we saw Alex in this outfit today, we wouldn’t even bat an eye.
SMOKY EYES
MTV
We’re totally feeling this smudgy, metallic smoky eye look Kristin has going on here. Girl, can you whip up a quick tutorial for us commoners ASAP, please? Thaaanks.
MIDI DRESSES
MTV
Dudes, look at what Kristin wore to prom–a simple-yet-dressy coral midi dress that is so on-trend today. Um, why did no one tell us to skip the poofy gowns?
