Let’s keep this short, just like the superhero at the center of his news: “Ant-Man” has begun.
Director Peyton Reed announced the start of shooting on Marvel’s “Ant-Man” on Twitter today, writing:
For “Ant-Man,” it’s been a long, hard, and not always pleasant road on the way to production. Edgar Wright came and went, after numerous years developing the project. The search to replace Wright was difficult and public, ultimately landing on Reed, director of “Yes Man” and “The Break-Up.” All throughout, casting was solid: Paul Rudd signed on as modern Ant-Man Scott Lang, with Michael Douglas signing up shortly after to play original Ant-Man Hank Pym. Also aboard: “House of Cards” and “The Strain” veteran Corey Stoll as the film’s villain, Yellowjacket, and Evangeline Lilly as Pym’s daughter, Hope, expected by many to assume the Wasp mantle.
Soon, we won’t have to make assumptions. Soon, “Ant-Man” will be here. For now, production is underway, with a release date less than a year away: July 17, 2015.
