The rumors are true, y’all. Disney announced earlier today that they’re making a Frozen-inspired wedding dress, which is a collaboration between Disney Consumer Products and designer Alfred Angelo, who is known for his range of bridal gowns based on Disney Princesses.
“[Frozen character Elsa] is beautiful and elegant, and her inner beauty shines through when she is ultimately not afraid to embrace who she is with confidence and poise,” Alfred Angelo’s Chief Creative Officer Michele Piccione told InStyle. “We wanted to translate Elsa’s inner beauty and individuality into a sophisticated gown that exudes this.”
The result is an “ice blue sheath gown” with a sweetheart necklace, all-over beading that mimics freshly-fallen snow, and a Watteau train, which is a classic style of train that falls from a bride’s shoulders to the floor. Piccione adds that it’s a final touch that “captures Elsa’s regal appearance and her bold personality.” Those wanting a slightly more traditional gown will able to purchase it in ivory as well. The Elsa wedding dress will be available January 2015 both online and at Alfred Angelo stores.
So, why a Frozen wedding dress? Well, it was the highest-grossing animated film of all time for one, and it has inspired a fervent following. One quick glance at Pinterest—the internet’s leading site for ladies who are fantasizing about their future weddings—demonstrates that there is a definite want and need for a Frozen-themed gown.
