Madison Square Garden has always been a symbol of success for musician. It’s a stage that demands a performance as legendary as the venue itself, and this Saturday, producer/DJ Eric Prydz will bring his EPIC 3.0 show to the New York City arena.
“Doing a show like Madison Square Garden obviously is the biggest venue I’ve taken on so far in terms of my EPIC show” Prydz told MTV News. “It’s very exciting and a bit scary as well. I’m not really nervous; I don’t really have time to [be] because there’s so much preparation in the music and the productions and everything going into the show.”
While the EPIC show is surely going to be exactly that, Prydz seems to be preparing everything except what he will be playing.
“As always, for me, I don’t really prepare. I go to a club or to an event like this and I improvise” revealed Prydz. “And you know there was this whole thing about these EDM DJs and these new big production shows where people just press play and it’s pre-programmed, and I think with EPIC, we can show people it doesn’t have to be like that. You can improvise and you can improvise with the visuals and with the whole production side of it as well as with the music.”
Not only will the show be improvised, but fans can expect a slew of special edits and remixes unique to show.
“For the EPIC shows, I do a lot of original material just for that show like EPIC remixes or EPIC edits of my music, and also brand-new compositions that I make just for that show,” he said. “So, obviously, everyone is in the loop of the music that I’m working on for the show and on the day everyone knows roughly what tracks are going to be played but they don’t really know in what way or how.”
What else can we expect from the MSG extravaganza? Lots and Lots of new material.
“Yeah we are doing a three-hour show and it will include everything from Pryda side, the Cirez D stuff, the Eric Prydz stuff and loads of new material that people haven’t heard before as well,” he admitted.
And sneaking in new material is nothing new for Prydz, who confesses to often slipping in a few hidden gems in his set.
“I play new stuff all the time; it’s how I keep myself sane when I travel between shows,” he said. “You know, I make music all the time and every set I do there’s almost always something new in there. I love to play new stuff and I think the people coming to see play kind of expect that as well.”
